Now Rikyrah – the CBC Report Card? Please!

This is nothing more than a stake in the ground by which a Progressive-Fundamentalist group has stated “This is what WE BELIEVE to be the correct policy positions to obtain the BEST INTERESTS FOR THE BLACK COMMUNITY. If you are in line with our BELIEFS you get an 'A'. If you don't vote as we expect – you get an 'F'”

But wait just a minute Rikyrah – WHO inspects the CURRICULUM of “CBC Watch” so that an objective observer can make note that these policies that are POPULARLY ASSUMED to be the best interests of our people CAN IN FACT DELIVER these BEST INTERESTS rather than PERPETUALLY ATTEMPT TO DELIVER?

Beyond POPULARITY, Rikyrah must stand EFFECTIVE RESULTS.

Too often the Progressive-Fundamentalist focuses on intensifying their own representation and ground cover. Sadly some of the places that vote for these policies are also some of the most threatening places for Black folks to live. (especially those who plan to live past 35).

For a people who advocate TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNMENT – why are you all so loathed to place your own ideology out on the table for inspection?

If it passes with flying colors – GREAT – I can be ignored as the “Charter Member of the Clarence Thomas Fan Club”.

But if you find some key elements of your ideology and your machine that needs updating – with the recognition that when your favored ideological operatives are IN POWER OVER YOUR COMMUNITY – the methods that you use to retain focus on your PERMANENT INTERESTS must change as well.

I have been sitting in the audience of too many Black banquets in which the Black elected official says “Black folks – our schools are messed up, our streets are not safe – WE have more work to be done”. I appear to be the only person saying “Negro!! YOU are running these entities – YOU need to be held accountable as you PROMISED that 'things were going to change once WE/you are in charge”.

Stop allowing your favored leaders to step off of the stage once they make such comments and LEAD THE AUDIENCE forward against the closest REPUBLICAN..far, far outside of your voting district. He knows what YOU HATE and he is going to continue using this HATRED to the advantage of his own political career and to the advantage of the party. As for the Black community – well we'll just continue FIGHTING rather than MANAGING.

Gee AgentX – I figured that you were going to say:

“Rep Cao and any other person who represents majority Black voting districts had better watch out for the Black voter that has been smitten by CHANGE! If they fail to deliver upon their promises of:

* Quality Public Schools
* Heightened Safety on our Streets
* Greater Local Economic Opportunities
* Healthy Lifestyles for the People

they will be summarily tossed out of office as our community purses its PERMANENT INTERESTS.

The fact that you believe that the only thing that Cao can do to remain in office is to CHANGE PARTIES speaks volumes regarding what the real problem WITHIN the Black community is.

whiterosebuddy has a point, go back to the original mission statement and fall in line. It's the safest way to handle the situation.

But there is something to be said for Change (ha ha, like how I did that?). Cao is an Asian-American representing an African-American majority. I think it behooves him to gather as much information about how to effectively represent his consituents, the CBC should allow him in….oh wait… on the the other hand, never mind. I keep forgetting, the CBC work for themselves, not the people who voted for them.

My bad, I'll keep it moving.

However, Cao is only gonna be there for 2 years. He's not gonna win reelection, unless he switches parties. He might as well just join the Asian caucus, if there is one.

Well I don't TRUST the CBC, nor their ability to “decide” the matter. They “decided” to defend Jefferson rather than THE FACTS.

If i were Rep Cao – I would not even pursue the matter. The Congressional Black Caucus represents ONE PERSPECTIVE of Black American political thought. In as much as this is the PREVAILING thought their ideology and policies need to be inspected as to its ability to actually DELIVER what they perpetually chase after in their policies. Too many of the areas where this “prevailing thought” is present – Black people suffer the most despite this machine being in control of the social institutions (schools, mayors office, police force, etc)

Ironically a corrupt Democrat representing this same district in Louisiana which is a “killing fields” for Black people was welcomed into the arms of the CBC as a QUALIFIED member, accepted and defended mostly because of his SKIN COLOR.

If the CBC is to be “WATCHED” they should be inspected not for their ALIGNMENT with the policies that certain Black ideological bigots hold as part of their own vision of right and wrong. Instead they need to me managed based on the RESULTS IN THE COMMUNITY:

* Public Safety
* Quality Schools
* Sound Local Economics
* Healthy Lifestyles

Mr Cao should consider his own principles in raising the quality level of these 4 key elements within his district. He needs to advance the notion that the people of New Orleans should focus on their PERMANENT INTERESTS in that their PERMANENT FRIENDS have failed them so in the recent past.

If the policy initiatives of the CBC are counter to the principles that he holds for REFORM (and with many of the CBC membership presiding over some of the most impoverished, dysfunctional and deadly districts in America this should not be too hard for him to do) Mr. Cao should reject membership in the CBC and form a new caucus:

The Caucus of EFFECTIVE Urban Reform

Why “caucus” with a bunch of people who do not want you in the place because of your SKIN COLOR and your PARTY? In 2 years Mr. Cao will not be able to do ANYTHING to convince certain bigots that he is a good man and is a net positive for the districts PERMANENT INTERESTS when the people who render the vote in his district were so bigoted that they could not see that the other guy and the machine that he is a part of is a NET HARM to their PERMANENT INTERESTS.

Cao does not have to be a member of the CBC to represent his district well.
Neither is he prohibited from hiring Black staff members to help him with properly representing his district.
Further, I am sure that Cao considered how he would ably represent his district before he decided to run for office.
I am guessing that joining the CBC did not factor into his decision to seek office.

Is it representation for constiuents or is it a platform for political power for those in the caucus?

If the purpose is delivery politically for constiuents then the answer is yes, admit those who represent the black constituency in their district.

If the purpose is for the Congressional reps to learn how things work in Congress and build a power base from which to set forth policies and legislative agenda, then it would not necessarily be empowering to non-blacks.

Their response to the “BLACK CLEAN CANDIDATE FROM CHICAGO” was rather TEPID ALSO!!

It made no sense to me about Cohen. They let the likes of the Derelicts belong to the Caucus, and I know Cohen has a better record than the CBC Report Card Derelicts. They should start some Auxillary for Cohen and Cao. Let's be blunt, CPL. Even if Cao voted straight Republican – he'd be doing as well as some of the Derelicts of the CBC.

The CBC needs to drink a tall can of STFU. After all, these mofos didn't coalesce around a Black CLEAN candidate from Louisiana. They gave money to DOllar Bill.
