A journalist for the "Daily Press" newspaper wrote an article detailing the hopes of 5 Tuskegee airman who live on the Virginia Peninsula.

I seriously doubt that the gay activists will 'get it'. I do believe that there actions of late revealing the deep and long abiding racism within the gay community is going to result in a growing fissure between them and blacks.

There were already wounds that were festering due to the way the GLBT movement clawed their way into mainstream thinking on the backs of the predominately black civil rights movements as their constant prototype for how their issue was the same. Most thinking blacks, including Powell, found such a comparison revolting. It was such a repulsive analogy that homosexual behavior was somehow lhe same as being black. The very idea was disgusting to most POC. As we knew race was not a behavior. Nor something you get to consent to.

And now, the GLBT is at it again, smearing President Obama in their attempt to achieve their political goals and sense of white entitlement as the basis for 'human rights'

It is the most disingenuous deceitful scurrilous facet of their politics to date.

They reached too far, calling Obama a bigot. Hillary does not even support DOMA and she was never called a bigot. Neither were those Bushes, called bigots, nor the Cheney's despite their anti-gay GOP platform.

Only black folks do not have to be accorded any respect. Only black folks can agree with gays politically and incur their wrath and hate at a sustained level like this.

It is sad. It is abominable. It says to mainstream...you all hate blacks, so do we. We should not be treated likeyou treat blacks. We are better than black people.

I think the best response to this irrational hatemongering and character assault on President Obama is the same as Bill Clinton received when he engaged in the same racemongering behavior. We need to get organized and vote against every single gay political issue.

Until they come to understand what the real struggle is for human rights in this nation is about.

It's just plain sad what the gay and lesbian movement has come to. November 4 was so extraordinary, so magical. The whole world seemed to come together. Except for gays and lesbians in California. We were supposed to feel crushed over Proposition 8. And now the whole scenario is gearing up to repeat itself on January 20: the whole world will celebrate the inauguration of the first black American president and the end of the George Bush insanity - the whole world except gays and lesbians who will be protesting Rick Warren's presence at the inaugural.

How is it that queers became the odd ones out at such a momentous turning point in history? By pushing an agenda of stupid issues like gay marriage.


Gay marriage" turns the real issues of equal rights for sexual minorities upside down and paints us into a reactionary little corner of our own making. Yes, married people get special privileges denied to others. Denied not to just gays and lesbians, but to all others. Millions of straight people remain unmarried, and for a huge variety of reasons, from mothers whose support networks do not include their children's fathers, to hipsters who can't relate to religious institutions.

KAILUA — President-elect Barack Obama returned for his third — and last — O'ahu visit of 2008 yesterday, and in the process transformed a quiet Kailua neighborhood into perhaps the most secure street in all of Hawai'i.

Residents of Kailuana Place lined their block with beach chairs and waved to Obama's black Cadillac limousine as it — and Obama's motorcade of Secret Service agents, about 30 Honolulu police motorcycle officers, patrol cars and a bus full of White House media — pulled up to the beach-side estate of three homes where Obama and his family are expected to stay through the holidays.

Kailuana Place, on the Aikahi end of Kailua Bay near Marine Corps Base Hawai'i, suddenly turned into an impromptu block party for the arrival of a native son who will be sworn in as America's 44th president on Jan. 20.

David and Linda Oifer even set out a bowl of chips and dip as neighbors sat in the Oifers' beach chairs to watch all of the law enforcement activity and the strangers who continually drove up and down their street asking a simple question: "Obama?"

"Look at all the lookee-loos," Ember Shinn said from across the street.

Ember and her husband, Alan, hope to see the Obamas on the beach or in their neighborhood in the next few days and were happy he and his family will get to enjoy a Hawai'i Christmas.

"We want him to have a good, restful vacation because he has a big job ahead of him in Washington, D.C.," Alan Shinn said.

Obama's chartered United Airlines 767-300I jet touched down at Honolulu International Airport at 3:06 p.m. yesterday after a flight from Chicago.

He left the plane wearing khaki pants, a black polo shirt, black jacket and ball cap of his favorite team — the Chicago White Sox. Obama walked off the jet with his youngest daughter, Sasha, who was wearing a large peace symbol on her T-shirt.

They were followed by Michelle Obama and oldest daughter Malia.

The White House press pool had already exited the rear of the jet to capture Obama's arrival but he offered a single wave to the local media sequestered several hundred yards away.

Obama's arrival also was watched by Secret Service snipers in black tactical gear. His motorcade included an ambulance and specially equipped Honolulu Police Department sport utility vehicle, which then zipped across O'ahu via H-3 Freeway to the Windward side.

In Kailua, Obama's limousine entered an impromptu security gate at the end of Kailuana Place at 3:58 p.m. and the family remained inside the compound for the rest of the night.

Biden To Chair White House Middle Class Task Force

WASHINGTON — As vice president, Joe Biden will oversee an Obama administration effort to find ways of building up the ranks of the middle class, that ambiguously defined segment of society most Americans identify with.

The task force will include four Cabinet members as well as other presidential advisers, the Obama transition team announced Sunday.

The goal is to recommend proposals to ensure the middle class is "no longer being left behind," Biden said. The proposals could include executive orders and legislative plans.

"Our charge is to look at existing and future policies across the board and use a yard stick to measure how they are impacting the working and middle-class families," Biden said in a statement released Sunday. "Is the number of these families growing? Are they prospering? President-elect Obama and I know the economic health of working families has eroded, and we intend to turn that around."

Overseeing a task force has become tradition for vice presidents.

Biden said the measure of economic success in an Obama administration would be whether the middle class was growing.

The transition team promised the task force's work would be transparent, with annual reports on its findings and recommendations. Also, any submissions from outside groups are to be posted on the Internet. By comparison, Cheney, a former oil man, fought to keep the White House energy task force's deliberations secret.

Task force members will include the secretaries of labor, health and human services, education, and commerce, as well as the directors of the National Economic Council, the Office of Management and Budget, the Domestic Policy Council and the head of the Council of Economic Advisers.

I think it's symbolic. Americans need to CARRY what you can CARRY.

Actually, I read (I don't remember where...) that he insists on carrying his own bag. I kinda like that about him. I think he is trying to stay as 'normal' as possible. If that's even possible, he would be the guy to figure out how to do it.

Similar to how he and Michelle said that their girls would be making their own beds and cleaning up after the dog at the White House. They really are trying to live an everyday "American" life.

This was the first month of the primaries, I believe, when he was hoofing it through IA, earning those votes.

My favorite thing about the end of the year is the "best of" or "worst of" list that come out around this time.

So how about it JJP what your best moments of Obama or the Obama family.

well I have tickets to the inauguration but according to alternet and it's closed door policies on TRUTHFUL comments ie your posting about the whites commiting violence on blacks in NOLA.

When the truth is that there were many whites beaten, disarmed and etc. BUT, just the fact that you DIFFERENTIATE it as a color thing pulled the card. Which is ridiculous. Go watch ALL the youtubes. Stop driving a train filled with hate. It's an embarrassment.
Luckily despite my racism and ignorance I'll find my way to the inauguration. Maybe I'll ask Mr. Obama if he can have a word with 'his people' about driving a hate train.
