Well …. It would probably be easier to see her aspirations in this direction if she had decided to marry a politician who became POTUS, THEN become a Senator, THEN run for president.

That is the correct path.

And come to think of it, Caroline Kennedy has not lived in the White House with her spouse, brought peace to Northern Ireland, or fatally mangled a health care project given to her by her husband the president.

I don't see anything that would suggest she has aspirations.

I'm just saying.

I'm for this pick of Caroline for that scenario alone. And I think she'll make a fine Senator. She gets two years to get her feet wet, learn the ropes, and then make a campaign run in 2010; the same way Triple J would have had to do, if he hasn't tripped himself up with the Blagojevich shyt.

I like fine, just as l like looking at good art – but there has to be more than a man's good looks to get my interest. I need substance to go with the good looks – otherwise a good-looking, but lacking substance man soon bores me.

Caroline, OTOH, is smart, accomplished in her own right, and never capitalized on the Kennedy name to achieve her accomplishments. The Clintons wanted to pimp on the Kennedys and the Kennedys TRAINED people in Pimping 101. They got upset that Caroline and Ted wouldn't join THEIR bandwagon. But when have the Kennedys been spectators on ANYBODY's bandwagon?

I like this pic because she's a competent woman who does her father proud. Jack Kennedy had no political experience either, when he first ran for Congress in 1946, then became a U. S. Senator in 1952. Who IS an experienced politician when they first seek office?

Compare Caroline to Hillary in terms of political experience and Hillary capitalized on who she was married to – as far as being First Lady giving her political experience, then by that logic, Laura Bush should be challenging Cornyn or Hutcherson for their Senate seats in 2010.

My understanding from NYC circles is that Nydia Velasquez, who would have been a good pick, wasn't terribly interested in the job and that's why her name wasn't thrown out there. And Louise Slaughter is willingly stepping aside for Caroline.

I need to understand something here – Caroline, a Native New Yorker, is catching flak for pursuing this seat because her last name is Kennedy; but y'all gave Hillary Clinton a pass and allowed her to relocate to your state and run for the Senate for similar reasons; because her last name is Clinton; a name she acquired by virtue of being married to Bill Clinton – and a last name she rarely used until they headed for the White House and the Southern Saltine Republicans threw a snit that until she became First Lady, she was known as HILLARY RODHAM.

And, as this goes on until Inauguration, you are going to see more in-depth questioning of Obama's Cabinet choices, because if he wants to be a one-term POTUS, picks like Hillary, Bob Gates and now Arne Duncan, are sending a message that is not the Change we voted for, or we Believe In.

I bear no shame in admitting I would be shallow as all get out and sing his praises based on trivial nonsense, without nary a clue as to anything about him other than he was really really cute.

But you are right, I forgot when it all boils down to it, politics is a popularity contest.

How silly of me to think that I would prefer a senate candidate to represent my state who actually done a lot of leg work and help push good legistation. Maybe someone like Nydia Velazquez. But she is weak because she does not have the celebrity status as Kennedy, Hillary, and Guiliani.

I personally don't give a damn about that Clinton feels threaten if Kennedy has the Senate spot. I just want a someone who toiled the fields getting the spot for a change.
