It would have been worse for JJJ to get the appt and then Blago get arrested. But JJJ would have had the Senate seat and they would have to prove the payoff…if they did that JJJ would have been toast.

Now, he gets to keep his Congressional seat and just be tainted and not adjudicated, teehee

Either way, JJJ can kiss upward political mobility goodbye because he is tainted. IMHO, he would still have the whiff of corruption on him had the appointment been announced, then the feds arrest Blago and release the tapes containing a new version of Mambo Number 5.

Soooo, now we know why JJJ was spining that 'I'll be adjudicated and vindicated and my enemies will be repudiated' at his presser. He knows he is not on tape. Which is reasonable since him and daddy both knew that Blagojevich has been under investigation for 3 years...they would have to be complete idiots to be caught saying anything to Blagojevich. If it wasn't JJSr who was the emissary, who was it that would have been KNOWN to be their agent?

Word on the street is that this deal for the Senate seat for JJJ was in the works PRIOR to the election...and I do recall first hearing about it during the primaries when JJJ was on a panel with Tavis Smiley.

Word also on the street is the reason Fitz came out early with the complaint is because the deal was done, following the 'publically official 90 min mtg with JJJ & Blag...that Blag was set to make the announcement of JJJ's appt on the very morning he was arrested.

So, all of this was to HALT the chain of events of the auctioned Senate seat.
