This is a no brainer for folks that cater to the African American demographic.

There will be pently of African American folks focused into these two channels for the inauguration, you can bank that. They will have high audience numbers because many African Americans trust the lily white major networks even less.

If I had cable (or a tv) I would be tuned into BET. I have almost forgave Tavis Smiely for the little games he played during the election cycle. Cornel West is my man!–simply a first-rate intellect with compassion that oozes from his semi-poetic discourse.

Since this is a major historic moment, i think that almost whoever covers the story will do their best at it- let it be BET or C-SPAN, they both will do a good job because the competition for viewers will be greater than ever before.

BET pretty much showed its sincerity when it had a chance to show live coverage of the Coretta Scott King funeral. To be fair, nobody could know that it would become newsworthy–but even TVOne decided it could give up it's rerun schedule for one day. BET put up a webfeed online and kept showing videos on the main channel, with a spokesperson trying to spin it as enhanced coverage.

BET has coverage? Sorry, I would rather watch Telemundo which will have better coverage, than what they will put out. For crying out loud they have the gall to try to do something positive after years of spreading some of the most vile stereotypes about black men and women in history? No way and I wish they would take it off the air and give me TVOne.

Really, isn't BET a day late and a dollar short (yet, again?) Who will be watching BET that day? The folk that normally watch (to see those tacky, often degrading videos) won't be interested, and folk that are interested in political issues will not be watching BET, but CNN, MSNBC, or one of the network channels. I am sticking with CSPAN.

I'll be watching C-Span, their coverage of the conventions was EXCELLENT. No talking heads, no commercials, I felt like I was really there.

I wouldn't watch something as monumental as The Obama Presidential Inauguration on Buffoon Entertainment Television if someone paid me to…

Glad that there will be some coverage aimed directly at the African-American community, but the BET brand is so tarnished….why them?

All this comes to prove that minorities have lost ground in the media over the years. Under this new president one must address the issue of the 'Fairness doctrine and media ownership'

But sorry, I will not watch it on BET… TVONe not available in my part of the world.

I hope TVOne boosts their online presence. I think C-Span is the way to go. Twitter will be heavily used as well as Current TV and Democracy Now! Forget the networks and the cable news noise machine. Maybe I'll catch Gwen Ifill.

I don't like BET and don't tune in to it. Why start now. I'll be in DC for a few events, however I would love to have taped coverage for later viewing and archiving.
