The sad part is that well meaning progressive minded folks just don't UNDERSTAND hoe POLITICS works! Politics is the ART of compromise and trading. If you don't have SOMETHING to TRADE then you cannot participate in real politics. Nere is a simplified roadmap of the DOTS behind the Obama/Clinton political smooze. Politically Barack has most of the civilized world behind him, but on capital hill he's just a new kid on the block. (During the primary Billary used the DC coded words “inexperienced” to describe Obama's political life underscore this fact.) Now Barack is smart! He knows that he needs Bill Clintons political capital in order to get his Domestic recovery legislation through the Congress. Bill says ,”maybe Barack, but what have you got for me?” Now Bill's foundations are primarily international in scope and that's where Bill's future interest resides, so…. Barack says, “how about the State Department for Hillary?” Bill's eyes light up and he says,”now you're talking… it's a deal.” Two things are left on the TO-DO LIST before this puppy can be put to bed. #1 – Bill must disclose funding for his foundations, to prevent any conflict of interest with foreign personages and Hillary's new job. #2The Congress must pass a special reduction in the salary for the Secretary of State position, otherwise Hillary's appointment will be a violation of an Article of the Constitution.

Grow up. This pick is genius on Barak Obama's part.
Obama knows that his election came about in part because
of the HIlary supporters and yes because of Bill. Never underestimate the power
of WJC to bring out the vote. The President elect also understands that
the SOS is a position that is KEY to his success. Hillary was a great pick.
She will do a terrific job - Barak will be re-elected - what more can the
Democrats want?

It is really amazing to me that some participants of this forum are still obsessing about
Bill's skirt chasing? Hello? Who cares? Apparently, HIlary doesnt care anymore, so why should you?

You know, I've been trying to accept HRC as SoS, but I just can't.
