A black bourgeoisie perspective on U.S. politics
Already there’s a lot of speculation about who will replace now President-Elect Obama in the Senate. Since Governor Rod Blagojevich is a Democrat, Obama will probably be able to handpick his successor. According to TIME, these are some of the top contenders:
Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., Obama’s former national campaign co-chair
Jesse White, former Illinois Secretary of State
Emil Jones Jr., recently retired former president of the Illinois state senate
The Washington Post adds a few more names:
Valerie Jarrett, A Chicago Businesswoman who is close to the Obamas
Tammy Duckworth, Illinois Director of Veterans Affairs
Lisa Madigan, Illinois Secretary of State
Jan Schakowsky, Representative from Illinois
What do ya’ll think?
