Hillary Rodham Clinton isn’t certain she would accept the Secretary of State post even if Barack Obama offers it to her, several people close to the former first lady say.
So, he hasn't offered it to her? Once again, it's what Hillary wants...
Primaries all over again.

You know?! It's becoming all about her, again.

I halfway think he talked to her about SoS to see if her people could keep their mouth closed. This week should confirm the Clinton's can't do anything quietly. As someone pointed out there were zero leaks during the campaign and Obama's first days as PE. Put the Clinton's in the mix and all your business is in the streets.

Eric Holder is a wonderful choice. I am so glad we will have our first Black Attorney General. Hopefully he and Obama will make electoral reform a priority.
Holder is immminently qualified - deputy AG in the Clinton Administration, former federal prosecutor, and partner in a prestigious Washington law firm.
I remember this guy. He made enforcing Civil Rights under Clinton palatable, considering Clinton sold the farm on Affirmative Action and Civil Rights to stay a step ahead of Orrin Hatch.

I believe he first served as US Attorney for D.C. after a judgeship on the local court. I remember him as a low-key and extremely capable. Again, I see this as a very good selection.

Two months before he leaves office, Sen. Chuck Hagel is increasingly unrestrained by political niceties.
Appearing at a forum at the Johns Hopkins School of Advances International Studies, the outgoing Nebraska Republican leveled harsh criticism at his own party, the lack of intellectual curiosity among some of his colleagues, the Bush administration's handling of nearly every aspect of governance and -- perhaps most bitingly -- the conservative radio voices that often dictate the GOP agenda.
"We are educated by the great entertainers like Rush Limbaugh," said Hagel, sarcastically referencing the talk radio host who once called him "Senator Betrayus." "You know, I wish Rush Limbaugh and others like that would run for office. They have so much to contribute and so much leadership and they have an answer for everything. And they would be elected overwhelmingly," he offered. "[The truth is] they try to rip everyone down and make fools of everybody but they don't have any answers."
THERE IS MORE.
Sooooo, what does he want? :>)
President-Elect Obama! :>) First Lady Michelle! :>)
1600. That’s the magic number. If Mark Begich can increase his lead from 1022 to 1600, it will put him over the recount threshold. If the margin of victory is under .5%, the state will pay for a recount if requested by either candidate, or a group of 10 citizens. If the margin is over .5%, then the candidate would have to pay for a recount himself. An automatic recount is generated only in the unlikely (but nothing would surprise me at this point) event of a tie.
Will Stevens ask for a recount if he comes up short? It’s anyone’s guess. If anyone would do it, it’s Ted. But he may decide to leave well enough alone, and spare himself from his almost certain expulsion from the US Senate. But Stevens is not one to back down. Ever.
Let me be the first to say that Alaskans are eagerly looking forward to this election being over. We were all prepared to wrap it up on November 4th, and are now faced with the election that wouldn’t die. But, there is a bright side to a potential recount. Recounts are done by hand count. It would be interesting to see how a good old-fashioned hand count fared in comparison to the suspect results that come from our particular brand of nefarious vote counting software. It might be the only vote of integrity Alaskans will have seen for several cycles.
And, if it flips the other way and Stevens regains his advantage, maybe Mark Begich will demand a recount.
The counting finishes tomorrow with approximately 24,000 ballots coming from Anchorage, Southeast Alaska, and the Kenai Penninsula remaining. When all is said and done it looks like Alaska’s percentage of voter turnout will be about 65%, which is less than the 66% voter turnout just four years ago, despite Palin and Obama on the ticket, and despite the addition of more than 20,000 new registered voters this year. There are many loose ends to be tied up before this is all over, and once the votes are counted.

Clinton got his knob polished in the Oval Office. Guess what? No war on his tenure. I like knowing this POTUS has prime rib at the house and won't be trolling the DC streets for hamburger or ground round.
Well, Justice, you know its true. I can see Obama in the Oval Office, chilling, and Michelle attending to her "duties" as his wife (wearing him out every evening, so all he can do is take a bath, eat and fall asleep so he can take that 3am phone call that Hillary wanted to do) - being so relaxed to the point he can concentrate on the job.
If Hillary had been on her job - Bill Clinton could have kept the scandal down to a low mute. He had zipper issues cause Hillary might not have been handling her business. Just sayin'....LOL
Shoot, if I'm Michelle, I'd be thinking about the fact that the White House has 132 rooms, and I'd be planning on how he and I would "Christening" them all (spread out in four year increments and scheduled around when he wasn't traveling, that is)

LMAO! I have thought about it, but try to keep my mind and heart "clean and pure" when thinking about our First Couple. Flutters eyelashes.
I realize that it's gonna be hard not to think of the First Couple in the chaste and pure way we used to look at First Couples, because by the time most of them got to the White House, they looked like they had "long-in-the-tooth, worn-out" marriages.
Consider the Kennedys were the last couple in the White House who actively were getting their groove on (Jackie Kennedy had a fourth child who died two months before Jack was assassinated).
The Obamas are the first couple in the White House under fifty, with young children and married less than 20 years. You damn right they will be getting their groove on, and they will be so damned smooth about it, no one on White House Staff will be able to sell stories to the National Enquirer (who is beginning to look more like a reputable newspaper than tabloid).

rikyrah: Tuesday, NOVEMBER 18, 2008, DAY -63 - On His "JOURNEY TO JANUARY"
1. "WORD(s)" for the DAY - GREEN/ENERGY; TRANSITION
Marc Ambinder reports on the Obama team's somewhat unsuccessful attempt to run a tight ship:
Several Obama transition staffers have put a version of that quotation in transition co-chief John Podesta's mouth.
Many of the major staff appointments so far - Rahm Emanuel as chief of staff, Greg Craig as White House counsel, the fact of the Clinton meeting, along with details about internal thinking on Gitmo and other subjects - have escaped whatever barriers the Obama team has set in place.
Every transition staffer and adviser has signed a non-disclosure agreement, and staff members are regularly warned by their superiors not to talk to the press.
My guess is that the sheer size of the universe that Obama's now dealing with - huge agency teams, reams of outside advisers being asked for their opinions - renders silence virtually impossible.
Malia and Sasha Obama are in Washington with their mother checking out new schools. Michelle Obama brought 7-year-old Sasha and 10-year-old Malia to visit the future first family's top choices, her spokeswoman Katie McCormick Lelyveld said Tuesday. She would not name the schools.
"She brought the girls to visit choices for their new schools to make sure they find the right fit," she said. "Their move to Washington is her top priority."
A small motorcade was parked at the back entrance of Georgetown Day School on Monday afternoon, with a few Secret Service agents standing around. The motorcade left after a group of people emerged, but Michelle Obama was not seen among them.
When asked if Michelle Obama had visited the school that day, some parents and students said they did not know. Other students who appeared to be in middle school said that they were not allowed to answer reporters' questions.
The Obamas were expected to tour Sidwell Friends on Tuesday. Officials at both schools did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
The soon-to-be first lady visited both elite schools last week, without her daughters, when she also toured the White House with first lady Laura Bush.
Georgetown Day, founded in 1945, was an early pioneer in integration and prides itself on its diversity. A report posted on the school's Web site says about 35 percent of its estimated 1,000 students are of color.
Sidwell Friends is a private Quaker school that Chelsea Clinton attended.
The president-elect's family has also discussed public school options for the two girls, Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty and Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee said last week.
THAT'S ALL FOR NOW! :>)
President-Elect Obama! :>) First Lady Michelle! :>)
Unless Fenty and Rhee are going to offer top-notch public charter schools as options to the First Family, they both need to GTHOH with their shyt because the rest of DC Unified is a Hot Mess, and I have this on authority from friends of mine who wanted me to come there as a sub teacher and I chose Alexandria City Public Schools instead.
The DC teachers asked me for applications so they can get out of DC Unified....'nuff said.
I want the Obama girls safe and if it's diversity, Georgetown Day sounds like a good choice, especially if 35% of the 1600 students are ethnic.
Sidwell Friends is a good choice, but may lack the diversity of Georgetown Day. I have a friend who's a well-known artist and her kids go to Georgetown Day. She swears by that school, and said she sent her kids there for the diversity (she's white) exposure they wouldn't get in the private school her ex-husband had them in.
Its amazing how people think folks who are not financially well-off can just up and put their kid in the really nice charter school 8 miles away as opposed to the public school 4 blocks away...although mommy and daddy have NO car and both take MARTA to work....choice and reality don't always coincide.
True, not all are: I toned the statement down a little.
It can be that simple: if the public schools around you suck, you send your child to a private/charter school. Your locality (or state) subsidizes you (in the form of a scholarship or tax breaks) until the public schools are up to par. Subpar schools are shut down and teachers/administrators fired (publically), and public education is rebuilt from the ground up.
That's it.

This entity is a monstrous undertaking. It just is. :>)
CHESS v CHECKERS.
Town
The "shut bad schools down" argument is silly because it ASSUMES the problem is with the teachers.
The problem ain't the teachers, it's what they have to work with. RayRay can't learn if the teacher is constantly having to get after Byron, Shykeisha and Nomeo for acting up in the class. It's hard to get Byron, Shykeisha and Nomeo to do right if Nomeo's momma is cussing you out on the phone for calling her house AGAIN or blocking your phone number.
Until you change the mindset of the students and their parents you can close down all the schools you want to, but the education will remain the same.
Until the school choice people acknowledge that the problem is not just with "bad" teachers or "underfunded" schools, it also has to do with bad kids and their equally bad parents, shutting down a bad school to "rebuild" it better is a joke.
For the kids...well, my 1 year old gets spanked. For the adults...not sure.
The flipside is that some of the teachers really don't now what the hell they're doing; hell, a lot of them are kids themselves. Nor do we have the right people wanting to be teachers, cause "giving back" doesn't pay the bills.
Do teachers shoulder all the blame? Of course not. But the ones who do need to be done away with. And if an administrator thinks that hiring more poor teachers is the way to go, they should be done away with as well.
Town
YOU might spank your 1 year old and correct him.
Keylolo thinks that Nomeo cussing is "cute." Until Nomeo gets to be about 12 and 13 and is bigger and taller than her and acts up so much she decides to drop him off in Nebraska.
You still are trying to heap the blame on bad teachers rather than the bad kids and their worse parents.
NO teacher can effectively teach like that and if there are 18 kids in the class and all of them but 1 are doing what they are supposed to, that one kid will drag down everyone else.
The insistence that if we just get rid of "bad teachers" education will miraculously improve is why education will not improve. You've got to have the parents and the students on board, too.
You know, when I was in school-up to and including high school-if I acted a fool in school or wasn't doing my work, my teacher would go upside my head.
When I got home, my mom would do the same, cause of course she'd get the whole story.
And for the short time I remember my dad being around, he'd do the same.
What happened to that?
I hear what you're saying. And short of waterboarding, there's no good conservative solution to bad parenting. There are some, though, to fixing education.
Town
"And short of waterboarding, there's no good conservative solution to bad parenting."
And everyone knows that but they'd rather blame the TEACHERS for the school being f'd up instead of blaming the bad kids and their parents. It does not matter how good or bad the teacher is if everyone's worrying if Nomeo's bringing a gun to school or if Byron's cutting up in class again. Most parents regardless of income or class level want their kids to succeed but until bad kids and their parents are dealt with, it doesn't matter how many bad teachers you fire or schools you shut down, nothing will change.
If you bring a rusty car to the mechanic for repairs, you can get rid of the mechanic but until you get rid of the rust nothing will change.
So let's start rounding the bad parents up. Stand up; fight with me!
And at what point do we start holding teachers/administrators accountable?
GreenLadyHere
D: So let's start rounding the bad parents up. Stand up; fight with me! RAOTFL!
Somadem is "STRAPPED!"
BUT, I'll follow you from about 50 miles back!! :>) :>)

D, there is no way to fairly evaluate a teacher who is trying to FEED a child who came to school hungry, who is busy trying to figure out why lil Sara refuses to speak but draws wierd pictures of her step-father with fangs, who can't get a parent to return a darn phone call on Eric's terrible math grades. I'm not even making these stories up..these are actual accounts from friends who TEACH. When I watched the documentary of Hard Times at Douglass High, it was clear what the main problem of that school was, and it wasn't the teachers. There were some worn out , beatdown teachers there...there were some that were just trying to make it to retirement...and you know what? I couldn't blame them.
So what are we to do? Heap the blame on the kids/parents and continue to let underperforming teachers underperform?
I'm hearing what you ad Town are saying, and it is something I hadn't considered. But, like I told him, there's no government solution to bad parenting.

Miranda
You seem to be under the impression that public schools are allocated per child the exact amount necessary for child at a private school within a reasonable distance of said public school. Where did you get that idea from? I didn't know that all private schools charged the same amount...and didn't know all public schools were allocated the same amount per child. I guess I didn't know that because in the public school system that I grew up in was dirt poor. There were hardly any property taxes to speak of...and I'm wondering what private school would have been an option seeing as there was one private school in the entire county.
Yep...its real simple.
GreenLadyHere
Miranda: SPEAK!! Unfortunately, D, has NOT been exposed to the financial basis of "educational systems." But, i'm SURE that he will NOW begin his THIRST and QUEST for THIS KNOWLEDGE.
You're being contrarian. And the Obamas have this school choice because the leaders of YOUR PARTY have decreed that too many People of Color are getting educated and have systematically eliminated funding for public education since the Reagan years.
If you don't think so, ask yourself why Orrin Hatch was good to go to get rid of the Education Department during Clinton's administration, and because a Person of Color was in charge?
Bush comes along, gives that position to Rod Paige, who proceeded to act like the slave catcher he was in implementing No Child Left Behind, which got paid promotion by Armstrong Williams, masquerading as a journalist when not being busy sexually harassing his male personal trainer.
You have way too many sexual images for today. That's as far as I think I can safely take that.
I said on my blog that the Obamas should send the kids to a school in SE-not the Navy Yard, but actually across the river!-just to see what miserable conditions the rest of the District's children have to put up with.
I don't think it's about too many "People of Color" getting educated, I think it's just the fact that public education is just that bad. And it seems a little hypocritical to me that the Obamas can pack their two off to whatever school they choose, while everyone else is stuck with the scraps (which I don't see Obama leaning on the Congress to lean on Fenty/Rhee to do a whole hell of a lot about).
MsKitty
I said on my blog that the Obamas should send the kids to a school in SE-not the Navy Yard, but actually across the river!-just to see what miserable conditions the rest of the District's children have to put up with.
But why should Malia and Sasha have to be made an example of? They didn't volunteer for this. As I said a few days ago, it's nobody's business what school the Obamas send their girls to. No doubt they'll be called elitists and hypocrites, but considering what their daughters mean to them I'm sure they'll gladly take the hit for it.
I wouldn't call them elitist. Hypocritical, maybe.
No, no one should care. To me, it's practice what you preach.
Sagittarius
Malia and Sasha Obama are currently in private school. (University of Chicago) Lab School is a private school.
Miranda
That's ridiculous...it wouldn't matter if DC had excellent schools. Common sense dictates that the kids go to a school with more secure grounds. As children of a President, its not even debatable that they go to a private school. Its not hypocritical, its common sense and its the 21st century.
Denise
I couldn't agree more, Miranda.

Senate Democrats have voted to allow Sen. Joe Lieberman to retain his chairmanship of the powerful Homeland Security Committee.
Watch how fast Lieberman comes back to bite the Democrats in the ass.
Who were the thirteen brave Senators who called out this mofo?
And I will be helping Jane Hamsher at FireDogLake to start that petition to strip Harry Reid of his Majority Leader Position - due to his failure to send Lieberman the message that traitors will not be tolerated.
Boo!...I AM PISSED...LIEberman said some pretty unsavory things about Obama and insinuated a lot more. LIEberman is a "Judas" IMHO...his ass should have been cast away.
Barack Obama's incoming administration is unlikely to bring criminal charges against government officials who authorized or engaged in harsh interrogations of suspected terrorists during the George W. Bush presidency. Obama, who has criticized the use of torture, is being urged by some constitutional scholars and human rights groups to investigate possible war crimes by the Bush administration.
Two Obama advisers said there's little — if any — chance that the incoming president's Justice Department will go after anyone involved in authorizing or carrying out interrogations that provoked worldwide outrage.
Now my senator from Oklahoma Jim Inhofe, is a certified lunatic but he makes sense here WASHINGTON -- U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe said Saturday that Congress was not told the truth about the bailout of the nation's financial system and should take back what is left of the $700 billion "blank check'' it gave the Bush administration.
"It is just outrageous that the American people don't know that Congress doesn't know how much money he (Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson) has given away to anyone,'' the Oklahoma Republican told the Tulsa World.
"It could be to his friends. It could be to anybody else. We don't know. There is no way of knowing.''
Inhofe, who on issues like global warming is something of a know-nothing, is nonetheless absolutely correct on this one. Bailoutsleuth.com has been reporting how Paulson has tried to shroud bailout expenditures in secrecy, while Bloomberg News recently reported that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is refusing to release the names of the recipients of about $2 trillion in taxpayer-funded loans.
Inhofe will likely find an ally in Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who issued this press release this morning:
WASHINGTON, November 17 - Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said today he will introduce legislation to stop the release of a $350-billion second round of the Wall Street bailout.
Sanders, who voted against the $700-billion package Congress approved in October, said he has serious concerns about how the Bush administration and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson are spending the bailout money that was already released. He also said it was unacceptable that the oversight provisions in the bill were ignored.
When the bailout originally passed over bipartisan objections, many voices began demanding Paulson refrain from buying bad mortgages, and instead buy voting stock in banks on terms that force banks to make loans off the new capital, restrict bank salaries/dividends and protect taxpayers' investment. Paulson partially buckled to that pressure, first a few weeks ago, then again late last week. Indeed, he discarded his original proposal (which would have been a straight-up giveaway) and began buying stakes in banks. The problem is he opted to buy non-voting stock on bad terms that do not protect taxpayers and allow bank executives to continue paying bonuses.
Now, with bipartisan congressional anger mounting, we may see a forceful legislative campaign to take back what remaining money Paulson wants to give away to his friends on Wall Street. The guy is working overtime to shovel out as much taxpayer money - our money - to his buddies before January 20th comes and he's out of a job. It's time to stop the kleptocracy, take back the money and spend it on a major economic stimulus to bolster the real economy here in "real America" where real people work real jobs - not simply give it away to a few financial industry fat cats in Manhattan.
Hope this BBC article by Kimberly McClain Dacosta ( Associate Professor of African and African American Studies and Social Studies at Harvard ) is NOT already discussed.
It is ONE of the MANY reason I refer to myself as an African and NOT a Black person and WHY I choose NOT to call people Black and white.
So, to the article bits:
It presumes that race is a real entity, something fixed, or natural. It seems to deny what scholars have laboured for decades to demonstrate - that the criteria used to classify people in racial categories, the categories used in a given society, and the uses to which those categories are put - vary by place and time. They are, as academics are fond of saying, "socially constructed". Yet the predilections of the scholar fail to satisfy those who claim to know what race Obama "is", for these are really statements about what the speaker thinks he ought to be.
...
... African American writer, Debra Dickerson, famously objected to calling Obama black on the grounds that because he is not descended from slaves, he is not of the people properly defined as "black." Ergo, he is not black - at all. ...
...
As recently as 20 years ago, the question of Obama's racial position would be presumed settled before it was even asked.
...
It was in our families where we first felt love and protection as well as the first sting of racial prejudice.
...
For us, being black and mixed-race are not mutually exclusive. We have learned to live with the contradictions.

Morning all.
There's been concern about the number of former Bill Clinton appointees being involved in the Obama transition, and possibly the Obama administration. I believe it was Josh Marshall from Talking Points Memo who openly speculated days ago--that while the Clinton folks could prove problematic to Obama's campaign mantra of change--there would be no better witnesses of Bill Clinton's mistakes. Something to think about.
Got a job fair to attend, and later, some birthday cake to munch on. Later ya'll!

Happy Birthday!

Don't gloat too much. You know how undisciplined and fractured the Dems are. The Rethugs plot for years in advance (well except for now of course). Evil never sleeps.

I feel like I'm living in a Friday the 13th series and they keep finding ridiculous ways to come back. Ugh, just die already....
Save your $$ and starting in January, start ordering seeds to plant your own garden. That's if you want to get through this economic crisis...

Co-signing, msationalone. And I'd highly recommend to JJp bloggers a newsletter called 'Early Warning Report." It's written by Richard Mayberry. I've been receiving it for years.
He reports on world trends, and gives practical analysis and tips on how to survive and thrive with all the economic changes and particularly during the wars in Iraq and Afghanastan. he gives some great investment tips too!

Sounds like SHE would have been a lock for the SoS position instead of Billary.

About HRC as SOS.......
Maybe this is PE Obama's way of getting revenge on WJC & HRC for the crap they pulled during the primaries? Through the vetting process, their business dealings would be exposed, particularly the Kazakhstan Deal and the dealings in Columbia. Like Rikyrah has said, "It's all about the donor list baby!".
My girls in the ATL are going to make me hurt somebody, showing their behinds on TV like they don't have good sense.
The Housewives of Atlanta is the best laugh I've had in awhile. A bona fide clown show, complete with professional clown makeup artists, cause they Divas like that.
The funny thing is, I will be passing the white chicks townhouse in a few minutes, cause its around the corner.
This shit is almost as hilarious as Being Bobby Brown, another "Only in the ATL" kind of show.
Amos and Andy will be back on next at this rate.
Miranda
Brown Man...its the best train wreck on TV. I'm just happy its on Bravo because that limits its reach. I'm not sure...is it progress that we can be seen just as shallow and dense as the Real Wives of Orange County?? I guess in a warped, bizarro world kind of way...it is.
spirit_55z
Miranda, I was channel surfing last week and happened on this show. In this particular episode, a sista was helping her son do his math homework. They were working on fractions. She couldn't figure out if 1/3 was more or less than 1/2 of pie. Her husband had to come in and try to break it down for her. This is shameful! LOL!
All that money and nothing but cotton between the ears. No self-respect. I heard it was bad, saw a clip on youtube I think and that was enough for me. I won't pollute my mind with foolishness.
Miranda
Ha! I didn't see that show but based on just that description, I know it was NeNe. I don't know whether to laugh or cry watching it sometimes! I look at it about the same as I would Desperate Housewives - its not REAL! you can't make me believe it is!
Texas_Girl_in_LA
Miranda,
I blame you for tipping me toward this "train wreck". I couldn't back away from the t.v. I had to run errands this weekend and I did it AFTER the marathon.
Question: Why does NeNe constantly ask for water - in a wine glass. Does that make her...classy?
My mother was knew about the show before I did. She said...oh I know about..you are late.
Miranda
LOL!!!!! Ummm....yeah I'm pretty sure Nene thinks that makes her classy....Lawd, they are so funny! Only Lisa has some common sense and word on the street is that she slaps Kim on the reunion show next Tue! I always wanted a black version of "Dynasty"...I guess this is it! I was hurt when NBC cancelled the black soap "Generations" a LONG time ago...this is as close to it as I can get...its a shame that these are actual people though and not fictional characters.
Parents...don't let your children watch this foolishness.
jelana
I was channel surfing this week-end and saw it as well. I also thought Lisa is the only one with any sense until my daughter told me she was married to Keith Sweat and rumor has it that he received custody of the children because she was a crack addict. If true, she seems to have gotten herself together now. The show is a train wreck indeed. These fools with ALL that money!
Hillary needs to be NOWHERE near Obama's Administration because I don't trust her to have his back in any Cabinet position she were to get. Even in the harmless agencies like Labor or Education, she would look for ways to publicly undermine Obama, because of her damned sense of ENTITLEMENT.
She would also be looking to set him up so she could challenge him in 2012. I think we all would pass on Hillary, because of her polarizing nature and her introduction of race into the political campaign when she had nothing left to throw at Obama.
In all seriousness, Hillary has no military experience and no battle strategy tactical experience, either. Should Obama need to make a statement by putting a woman in as SecDef, Colonel Janis Karpinski should get the nod; she's battle-tested and trained in tactical approach and strategies; not to mention estimating the United States' chances for success in the event of military engagement.
Plus, she would be a cool head who would be expected to consider ALL options before advising Obama to go in anywhere guns blazing.
Gates needs to stay on through whatever conclusion there is to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Beyond that....my opinion is that the Secretary of Defense should be someone who has extensive experience with the military/intelligence community in the private sector/academia, or a retired flag officer.
Clinton's five years on the SASC don't give her enough experience to run DoD, liked or not.
djchefron
I used to think that Gates should remain at Defence. Now I am not so sure. He was involved with Iran Contra and where would his loyalties lie.He is within the inner circle of the Bushies and I remember when Kennedy kept Dulles, a holdover from Eisenhower and it was him who gave us the bay of pigs.
As I said to djchefron a while back, Clark sold whatever military knowledge/influence he had to the highest bidder, and Obama didn't win that election.
You could make a case for Clark to placate Hillary, but since she's (probably) getting State, Clark can crawl back under whatever rock he came from.
Why wouldn't Hillary want to be Secretary of Health? Kennedy recently said no to her request to head up his subcommittee to tackle health insurance, shutting her out, and she has a long memory about her aborted health care legacy. Then there's Max-Whomever, the D-Senator, who wants to claim the win for himself.
Further, as Colin Powell showed, you can be out of a job in a couple of years, and I can't remember a SoS who ever lasted eight years. (Can anyone help me with this?)
So why would she want to be SoS, and risk being out of a job in four years max? We all know Robert Kennedy Jr wants her Senate job. That slot will be gone, unless she moves back to Chicago.
I suppose Hillary has enough spanky-spanky in her relationship with Bill to slap him down if he acts like Extra-President-on-a-Plane and undermines her dealings with foreign governments, but why risk it. Bill's mouth is getting more Bideney as the reverse is true.
I can't figure this out. There's something else afoot. I can feel the pea under my mattress.
Her alleged "BASE" is NOT going to fight the GOP LEADERS and demand that she be put in a leadership position! IFFF they did, they would look as UN-INTELLECTUAL and as STUPID as HER.
Oh! Wait. . . . People DID support her! -UN-INTELLECTUAL & STUPID!
I'm telling you, listen to some Republicans and they think she's the Second Coming (of either Christ or Reagan; not sure which). Especially among some of my fellow black conservatives/Republicans...which I'm still trying to understand.
No, and it would still be called "Dap" except for the terrorist newscaster at Fox Noise who turned it into an object for discussion by calling it a "Terrorist Fist Jab."
TV Newser has learned that Fox News anchor E.D. Hill is leaving the channel after her contract was not renewed:
TVNewser has learned veteran Fox News Channel anchor E.D. Hill will not be renewed when her current contract expires. Hill, who has been with Fox News for more than 10 years, will continue with the network for the next few months until her current deal expires.
SVP of Programming Bill Shine tells TVNewser that he "chose not to renew E.D.'s latest contract" but noted that "Hill has been a valued contributor to the success of FNC over the years, and we wish her all the best."
Hill gained notoriety several months ago when she referred to the "pound," "fist bump," or whatever you want to call the handshake that Barack Obama exchanged with his wife Michelle as a "terrorist fist jab."
At some point, it starts to lose its significance.
Okay, I'll allow Jesus....but that's it.
(like I've got the final say on that one)

I am thrilled that a black woman will be First Lady of the United States of America. But there is something about this article that just doesn't sit right with me. Yes, a black woman wrote the article, but does that give her license to objectify Michelle's ass? I don't think so. I know black women of all shapes, sizes and colors in all walks of life. Whether on not they have "the badonkadonk" has never occured to me.
I am tired of stick insects being the model for what passes as "beautiful" because there's no way in hell Kate Moss should have a job as an international model. She looks more like an escapee from a concentration camp.
Michelle rocks. Ask brothas who like "junk in the trunk" and white guys who were all over a sista in the U. K. as well as American white guys who like some meat on the bones, not to mention hips, thighs and breastists...
I'm sorry, "Ceephus and Reesie" just came out, LOL. David Alan Grier used to crack me up on "In Living Color" referring to breasts. LOL
Miranda
"stick insects"..........ROFLMAO......I immediately envisioned a Praying Manthis....LOL. Why was that ever considered cute?? Even Naomi and Tyra at their peak runway days, still looked like they ATE..I don't even remember Cindy Crawford looking like she missed meals. This whole "heroin chic" thing is awful.
The magazine lost their minds when Tyra really started eating. Remember that cover of her on People Magazine, at her true weight of about 160lbs? Shyt, I wish I looked that good at 160...and she told folks to get over her weight gain.
Then she sold out and lost the weight - caved in to pressure, I guess.
Miranda
Industry pressure for sure...and that's a real shame because from what I've seen and heard from every guy I know, their vision of beauty is a Serena Williams. Heck, I would seriously consider selling my soul for Serena's body.
I think it's less about objectifying her ass and more about noticing that she's a healthy, full-figured woman, and not some anorexic, rail thin archetype.
That's how I read it anyway.
At least the essay gives a socio-cultural history of what all means.

Hey, you can't help but notice that baby's got back!

First lady got back I'm a black woman who never thought I'd see a powerful, beautiful female with a body like mine in the White House. Then I saw Michelle Obama -- and her booty! By Erin Aubry Kaplan http://www.salon.com/mwt/feature/2008/11/18/mic...

Funny!! And oh so true, Michelle has a fabulous figure. She is repping for the sistas, I giggle with delight every time I see her on tv...
freespiritbty
I cracked up when Michelle was on The Colbet Report and he seem "transfixed" singing to her and what not, lol. Colbert was flirting with her. lol
Texas_Girl_in_LA
Yes! Freespiritbty,
It's still in my DVR. I thought it was sooooo cute! He was just smitten by her.
freespiritbty
I watch it on youtube from time to time, lol! It really was cute to watch. Like his guard was down for a bit. :-)
Me, too, BAP. WE full-figured sistas were already getting play - now I expect my prospects to increase because of Michelle Obama, and really, in person, she's more statuesque than big-boned, and has a tiny waist (to me, anyway).
I like the fact she has a lil' junk in her trunk and I know the POTUS will appreciate it too. At least if Bush had been getting laid on a regular basis, he wouldn't have started a war with Iraq.
Clinton got his knob polished in the Oval Office. Guess what? No war on his tenure. I like knowing this POTUS has prime rib at the house and won't be trolling the DC streets for hamburger or ground round.
spirit_55z
ROTFLMAO!!!! Goodness Gracious, Great Balls-o-Fire!
You ain't never seen Billy Jeff with an anorexic woman, EVER. Even Gennifer Flowers was curvy in all the right places.
And that's why Paula Jones complained - she was ugly and skinny and had to make shyt up about Clinton sexually harassing her bony, corn-eating country ass.
Most people ragged on Monica; I thought she was cute but naive in the sense that she confided to Linda Tripp about blowing the POTUS.
That is a secret I would have taken to my grave, and Clinton had Vernon Jordan hook her up with a phat job and everything to keep her mouth shut (no pun intended).
parker404
OMG, I loved Monica's hair!!!
Miranda
It was thick and very healthy - real nice head of hair! LOL
