Obama Team getting it done from Al Giordano over at The Field. I have 2 words: organzied & Thorough. No cabinet announcements to be made until December.
In the CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Tuesday, 59 percent of those questioned said Democratic control of both the executive and legislative branches will be good for the country, compared with 38 percent saying such one-party control will be bad.
Miranda
Ummmmm....a big NO Mr. Mayor......the Obama girls cannot go to a public school, period. I don't want to hear any foolishness on that even being an option. Hell no.
What Barack and Michelle have done for black Americans is completely immeasurable.
Lilytiger
And us other minorities.
I am so thankful to see this day. I cannot wait for January 20th.
We will walk behind you and support you, President Obama.
Miranda
So Michael Steele is trying to make a play to be chair of the RNC?? lol...he's about to find out just how black he really is....and sadly, that statement is just as true even if he succeeds...LOL
Town
He better ask JC Watts what time it is.
sdg1844
Whatever happened to his news station? Wasn't he supposed be be buying a network or something?
Miranda
JC who??? lol
TRW
I actually think it would be wise to name him the chair. If the Republicans are committed to diversity, they should start acting like it. Steele has been a cheerleader for them for years. And if they are serious about courting the Black vote, he may know how to do it.
msmartin
I am so glad he is. He will get just what he deserves either way.
MsKitty
This is not going to end well.
Miranda
LOL - nope...it sure won't.
RonnieB
Agreed. Steele, as I've noticed in the last year or so, has been trying to shed that Uncle Tom image. But he'd better realize that the Republicans are in no mood for strong, self-loving Black men right now.
msmartin
You can say that again. LOL. They don't want see anything black.
spirit_55z
Word, msmartin. President-Elect Barack Obama is all the RNC can't even stomach as a black man.
Miranda
HA! You ain't neva lied! He's in for a rude awakening if he tries to flex, and it looks like he might just try. I hope his wife is strong enough to pick up the pieces.
CHICAGO — President-elect Obama planned to honor fallen troops Tuesday, taking a short break from his primary task of mapping out his administration to mark Veterans Day.
The Democrat was slated to lay a wreath in Chicago, accompanied by Tammy Duckworth, a disabled Iraq war veteran and 2006 failed congressional candidate who now is the Illinois governor's veterans affairs director.
Aside from the brief public appearance, Obama planned to huddle in private with top advisers planning for the transfer of presidential power in January.

One of the (seemingly never ending) comedies is the amount of press being given to the Sno' Ho' to fabricate how she had no part of being on the receiving end of a landslide last week.
The 50 gallon barrel of electoral Whoop Ass opened up on the Repugs last week by the American Public...
Had nothing to do with the fact that the Rethugs tried to jam another intellectual deficient moron down our collective throats again...
Despite the last intellectually deficient effete rethugly blowmonkey nearly tanking the country.
If I was one of Obama's campaign strategists, I'd be on my knees right about now, pleading to the powers above...
"Oh, Please let the Rethugs run the Sno' Ho' in 2012!"
"Sno Ho"?...................OMG....LOL...you are SO wrong for that.....LMAO!!

Did Bristol and Levi get married on the 4th? I hope someone asks her in one of themany interviews she's going to give.

Heck no, it would have been in the news....I got $5 that Bristol has not seen Levi Johnston since they got back to Alaska - that boy is soooooo outta there. He's not going thru with it.

Ah, sweet home Alabama. Where a ballot provision to remove anti-miscegenation laws (already declared unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court decades ago) from the state's constitution only passed by a 60% margin--meaning 40% thought the unenforceable laws should stay on the books.
My state always does me proud.
Miranda
Ah yes, sweet home Alabama......wasn't this ballot provision on the 2006 ballot before (may have been 2004)?? Hey, let's just be happy it passed this time.
Miranda
I promise y'all...Obama won Georgia...some nefarious activities took place Tue night. I know how much it would have hurt for one of the true cotton states to go blue, but it SO did. Well, it may have been prevented from going blue, but its definitely gonna be purple. Saxby Chambliss MUST go!
Justice58
I believe you! I saw the lines. It was a sight to see. It gave me chills seeing all those people waiting to vote! omg it was beautiful. Lord, I pray, let the trickery come to light!
sdg1844
I believe it as well. GA was my "sleeper" and I believed 100% that the state would come thru for Obama. Some real bytchass-ness is going on there and it's not right.
rikyrah
I believe it. I totally do.
parker404
You are so right, Miranda. I vote in GA. I saw the lines wrapped around during early voting AND on Election Day. There was definitely some trickery going on.
BTx
Yeah... And you begin to understand why Obama's election didn't do anything to make a post racial America.
What it did was to prove that a large enough MINORITY of white folks in America either a) don't hold any racial animus, or b) despite holding some racial reservations were clear headed enough to vote their own best interests instead of voting for ignorance.
The Republican "white people's party" will undoubtedly raise it's ugly head again in 2010 and 2012, judging from the fawning admiration of the Sn' Ho' by the backwoods set. The racial remnants of the Jim Crow confederacy are likely to be with us for a while.
I think they might try another fake out and promote Bobby Jindal because you know he's Indian American so they can claim to be post racial. Of course he's very brown-skinned and a lot of the Red State citizenry might mistake him for Native American...or Black! Ha. I see it now Jindal/Palin the losing ticket of 2012. Palin doesn't want to play second fiddle anymore, but she is delusional if she thinks she could stand to run a campaign with the gloves off. Katie Couric was hardly difficult with her.
rikyrah
Jindal is not stupid. I swear, if he makes it through being Louisiana Governor without any scandals or indictments, the GOP should kiss his feet and offer him anything.
whiterosebuddy
Obama who is soooo prescient was on target again. He has a divided nation, north vs. south, just like Lincoln.
Folks says he is 'obsessed' with Lincoln, but Obama knew before he was elected that he too, just like Lincoln, was inheriting a divided nation. What he did not count on was the financial crisis overlaying that...but he understood that we are a nation at war with ourselves.
It is sometimes called the blue vs. red divide but Obama understood that at the core is racism...the vestiges of the Confederacy and the stars and bars flags that still fly over the state capitols in SC and GA. Obama is here to unite this country some 200 years AFTER the civil war was fought, yet the South has not once conceded. They have merely bubbled back up with new ways to keep the old divisions alive.
Obama has not been studying Lincoln all this time for no reason, he understands the deeply held convictions on both sides and he is determined to make this a more perfect union as it was intended to be when the US Constitution was written.
How rich in irony will be it be that a black President was the one who had to finally UNITE this nation? O what the history books will say and the stories they will tell about the African seed born in this nation that rose up to be the 44th President, unbowed by slavery ancestors, and who demonstrated the supreme equality of all men from African nations when allowed to compete on equal footing to achieve all the ideals of the American creed. Ah the stories they will tell, about the immense joy of Moses people lead by the leader of the Joshua generation.
A man who told his own story before it was written, who went to Bloody Sunday in Selma and told the ministers and leaders during Moses time that it was time for the Joshua generation to lead. He said this in the church with John Lewis who was afraid to give his endorsement cause BubbaBill was pressing him so hard not to.
A man who stood on the steps in Springfield, Ill rich in symbolism and said he would need us to help him run and get elected. A man who told us his beliefs and convictions in 2004 and when he ran he held true to them.
Obama will unite us ..he will put the nail in the coffin of the confederacy...even Richmond, VA understood that...Virginia is on board as the home of the confederacy and so soon will be SC where the first shots were fired.
What a glorious time in American history to be alive!!

You have articulated his drive and desires well and I agree with you whole heartedly. Obama is not finished with the South. He will have to take it down one brick at a time - the way it was built up by slaves.
The first brick is Saxby Chambliss. He sent a team down to help Martin end his power and I believe they will succeed. BTx don't underestimate Obama and team.

GreenLadyHere
rikyrah: -Er, -ummmm, the ONLY thing that I can add to this discussion is the "OPENING" to the television series that I use ta watch as a child! :>) :>)
Rikyrah, I read the first two books, and I liked the vampire storyline. I try to stay up on my young adult lit because I teach middle school. It is a nice easy read, if you don't analyze it too closely you can probably recoomend it to some teenagers.
jelana
A good vampire series is written by L A Banks. It even has a teacher's guide. It may be more appropriate for high schoolers though. The 1st book is called Mignon. I think the website is http://www.vampirehuntress.com
sdg1844
Love the series and have read every one of the books. Damali, Carlos, Marlene and Shabazz bring some serious spirituality and reverence for the ancestors up in there.
rorysmomma
I will definitely check it out. I try to pinpoint reluctant readers and introduce them to books that contain their interests. Thanks for the recommendation.
HUGE teen audience. There was a damn near riot in SF last night from the male lead of the movie version doing an in-store appearance. The books are ok but the author is a Mormon with some very obvious racial prejudices as well. The Black vampires are supposed to be especially extra evil.
Modern day vampires + Romantic love triangle + Excruciatingly bad writing x Sexually repressed white female fans...
Okay, I should probably take that last part back. LOL. I enjoy a good vampire romance myself but the Twilight series is not at all worthy of all the attention it has received (in my opinion).
pinksun
I'm a librarian in Detroit and the Twilight series is even popular her with teen girls. It's not the best writing ever but compared to the Triple Crown/Urban books that the kids love to read I find Twlight pretty harmless. Here is a link with more info. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twilight_(series)
I defer, with much respect, to your expertise and experience, pinksun! I just took a look at what Triple Crown Urban is publishing and if the choice is between "Twilight" and "Crack Head 2: Laci's Revenge" (http://www.triplecrownpublications.com/catalog_...), then I say, please let me personally buy copies of Twilight for every teenage girl I know. Yikes!
rikyrah
this is random news.....but it seems as if we're inching closer to a DVD release of FRANK'S PLACE
Thank you for posting this random news! I loved Frank's Place way back when and I can only imagine how I'll view it after so many years. That was an awesome show that never got the love it deserved...
rikyrah
I hear you.
CBS just couldn't handle it. They didn't grasp the complexity of what Tim Reid was trying to do.
I love this post. It's too difficult for them, Brown Man Thinking, for them to admit that Obama ran the most brilliant campaign in at least a generation. It's too much for them to admit that HE was in control of his campaign (you know the ' he was controlled by others' memo that some tried to push.)
It's too much for them to admit that he learned from the South Side of Chicago, how to organize A FRIGGING COUNTRY.
It's too much for them to admit that he was brilliant every step of the way.
If this election has proven to me anything, it's that the Mainstream press is a fucking joke.
The Democratic Primary season was OVER the night of the Wisconsin Primary, yet they continued with the bullshit about this being a ' horserace'.
The General Election race SHOULD have been over 10 days after Caribou Barbie was chosen. If they had taken the same rectal exam approach to Palin as they had done to Obama, the General Election would have been over 2 weeks post her selection. Her selection, above all else, proved what a SHAM McCain's entire campaign was, because it was a complete betrayal of America.
Love the post.

Brown Man: There was no horse race this fall, not even close. Now see, this info coming out proves that the McCain-Palin ticket deserved to lose.
They were so busy trying to dangerously paint their opponent as a terrorism sympathizer when they brushed off a much more damning (and accurate) characterization: That Barack Obama is a nerd who collects comic books and reads Harry Potter.
To all my fellow nerds who collect comics and read Harry Potter - LOL:
Cue condescending female voice over:
He sided with the Hufflepuffs against the Voldemort uprising. And now he wants to teach sex education and the Dark Arts to young Muggles. Barack Obama. Not ready to lead.

But for real.....doesn't Dick Cheney look like Voldemort?
Miranda
LOL.....Yeah but then he turns around and loves "The Wire" and the Fugees..........I don't think I've ever known anyone who could pull off the nerdy-cool quite like our President-elect. He should hold a class.

When the Bushtwit strode into his purloined office in 2001, granted to him by the felonious 5 on the extreme court, the first thing he did was a blanket recall of every Executive Order made by Clinton.
Contributing to 9-11.
The Bushtwit Administration has utilized the Executive Order process to implement a number of Constitution shredding actions (wiretapping American citizens), as well as to implement policy which wouldn't pass Legislative muster.
One of the first things President Obama can do on January 21st is to rescind a majority of Bushtwit Executive Orders.
To get the recovery started.

Interestsing article about Justice Ginsberg and the current Court. judges coming up for retirement.
U.S. Supreme Court Pundits Ignore Justice Ginsburg’s Plans to Remain on the Court
Posted 4 hours, 26 minutes ago By Debra Cassens Weiss
Pundits are predicting that three of the Supreme Court’s most liberal justices will announce their retirements after Barack Obama takes office so he can name like-minded replacements.
The theory is that Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, David H. Souter and John Paul Stevens will all step down, Legal Times reports. Stevens is the oldest at age 88, followed by Ginsburg, who is 75, and Souter, who is 69.
But the prognosticators aren’t listening to Ginsburg, who says she has no plans to retire, the Legal Times story says. Speaking at Columbia University on Oct. 25, she referred to Justice Louis Brandeis. Ginsburg said Brandeis “became a justice at age 60, as I did. He remained on the bench until age 83. My hope and expectation is to hold my office at least that long."
Well....there is a Black social elite. And we see how some of them (Condi Rice comes to mind) just don't have a care in the world for the lower classes. They can be just as bad if not worse for their exceptionalism amongst classes and choosing to be with their kind of people as white racists. The rest of us could be damned. Hence the shoe shopping during Katrina. Meanwhile Sean Penn flew in, got a boat and actually rescued people.
I just love how the commoners Michelle and Barack got the White House before any of them did.
Think_About_It
A reporter on CNN said one of the things President Elect Obama will have to get used to is being "followed OJ style" by security. They then cut to a scene with President Obama's Jeep surronded by security driving down the highway. OJ STYLE! WTF?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ARGGGGGGH
I am 'bout to do another media blackout for a few days--they folks are losing there "damn mindsaaaaaaaa".
whiterosebuddy
Think about it...Obama has some EFFIN serious protection around him. It called to mine visuals from movies of multinational corporate executives in Bogota or Columbia. Here is home my morning paper described his motorcade in DC yesterday;
"The Obamas traveled the streets of Washington and up the White House drive in a motorcade upgraded from campaign mode to full-blown presidential level. There were the two identical black, heavily armored limousines, one a decoy, like those Bush rides in, only without the seal or flying flags. There was also a hazardous materials truck, a communications vehicle and an ominous-looking, armed-to-the-teeth counterassault team filling the seats of an open-windowed Suburban."
I was like WTF? hazardous materials (can u say biologic weapons) and a friggin counterassault team?....with no need to let windows DOWN?!!
I was like MOTHER F...DAYUM this brother got SERIOUS ass security....shoot first ask questions later...
Couldn't help but be reminded of how terrible the threats to his life are. Michelle has to be going out of her flippin mind seeing that!! I mean there is security that in knowing they doin everything they need to but damn the fear of knowing why they need to go to such lengths has to be borderline insanity at moments.
Obama had SS protection since day one of his campaign when he started getting Death Threats.
He's ALREADY USED to the surveillance and protection; although, for my money, I still say he needs to call Farrakhan on the QT and ask for 30 NOI brothas who can get security clearances and be trained as SS agents to be assigned to his detail.
sdg1844
Ypu ain't never lied on that one CPL. NOI don't play that!
caligirl
a few FOI on the case would be good.
whiterosebuddy
CPL, Obama may be planning to do precisely that. The right wing radio is screeching and ranting and bellowing about how Obama has called for a 'national' security force.....of course they spin that into nationalism and the rise of the Reich.
My thought was he has so many threats that Barack HUSSEIN Obama is contemplating having a trained team in every friggin state so he does not need to rely on locals....
this here shyt is serious...too serious to even think about....I am glad I am not Michelle. I couldn't take it. I called my husband just READING that shyt...he 'assured' me that in DC near the capitol where he works it is commonplace occurence when these VIPs are in town to see armed men standing in alleys outside behind buildings. He was not even phased when I said a counterassault team riding shotgun with windows DOWN.
So, Obama may need his own friggin army...hahahaha...just think protection looking like Huey and Bobby flanked by the Panthers will be walking around on the white house lawn.
hahahaha..,.they won't be talking 'OJ style" protection...hahaha it will be like Black Panthers style...I can just hear one of those pundits saying 'Wolf I haven't seen sights like this since the 60s ....with the Black Panthers & Underground Weathermen.
ctfu!!!

Co-sign the NOI idea. We KNOW they would keep a brotha safe.
Not to underestimate the stupidity of the American people but if she is the nominee for the republicans in 2012 to quote Bush "Bring it on" There is no way she gets over 45% of the vote.

It's disgusting how the media is celebrating her ignorance. Can you imagine how the QUALIFIED and EDUCATED Republican female politicians feel?
rikyrah
you saw that none of the QUALIFIED GOP women stumped for her...that says it all.
I saw that. It was like Kay Bailey Hutcherson, Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, Christie Todd Whitman and a few others told McCain to go to hell with that, and I don't blame them one bit.
They will probably engage in a hen-fight circular firing squad on her ass come 2012, and I'd pay money to see that bloodletting.

IFF the Repugs go for her, THEN THEY will DEMONSTRATE to the WORLD, AGAIN, that THEY support the UN-QUALIFIED and the UN-EDUCATED!!
Annnnnd, they will continue to ATTRACT the SAME!

BUT, I'm still believin' that the Repug wives (of former front-runners) and other women (who are INTELLIGENT) will NOT let the UN-VETTED ONE ever get that far entrenched into a LEAD position, AGAIN! We'll see. [But, I really am tired of all this news coverage!]

Everything changes and remains the same...whitefolks ain't learned a darn thing.
Whoever it was upthread that called her the SnoHo was right.
islandgirl550
OMG! I thought this exactly when Palin was first picked. Olymipa Snowe and Susan Collins must have crapped on themselves. I think I may have even saw pain and agony on Peggy Noonan's face as the weeks went on. But they, unlike Democrats fell in line and supported this uneducated, country bumpkin unequivocally. It's just gross.
I'm sorry, but this neo-con faction of the Republican party seems to hate educational excellence... and then Joe Scar talks about poor schools in the black community. They made the Obama's love of education and excellence seem uppity, elitist, and not average. Which is it? I mean, really!!!

The kind of mother who does that is one who comes from a home with incest.
I suspect we could eventually learn that Trig is Bristol's brother.
GreenLadyHere
whiterosebuddy: Ya know, I am convinced that Trig is HERS because of the general factors which influence the production of a child with "Trisomy 21", namely: "non-disjunction of paired alleles [genes] which has a greater chance of occurring in "older eggs." This is NOT negative; it's just what occurs.
I would be more prone to believe that Trig was a product of her "affair" which was reported in the National Enquirer. However, I'm a little skeptical of their reporting since they didn't "follow-up" annnnd, they didn't produce a "bigger bomb" after all that time spent in Alaska. Hmmmmmm.
Oh. well! :>)
caligirl
well... i can't lie... i have referred to both of my sons as "brother" on more than one occasion when they were little---especially when they were tryin' to get a little attitude! it can be a term of endearment. in fact, it was the most endearing thing i've ever heard come from that person's ignorant mouth.
GreenLadyHere
caligirl: My APOLOGIES TO YOU>
For her, I'm "searching for some endearment!"
Look how the Obama's INVOLVE their children!! How often does SHE refer to her children? NOT MUCH!
Annnnnd, again, I ask, what mother Jumps up out of the maternity ward after 3 DAYS?? Annnnd, what physician allows them/recommends that they go back to "bui'ness as usual" in that amount of time? At her age? With a "special needs child"? Where's the BONDING?? That's what I'm referring to.
And speaking of that little segment where the reporter asked if she "would want mommy to do this again?" The daughter gave an honest answer - "I DON'T KNOW??" After HER MOTHER RE-ASKED the SAME QUESTION [in a somewhat coaxing voice - like you betta say somethin'. . ] she said "YEAH" [or close to that.] To which "the UN-VETTED ONE" said, "Yeah! It was fun!" I was tha-rough!! Those EDUCATIONALLY and SOCIALLY POOR children!
Sooo, I'm really trying to DISTINGUISH YOUR tern of ENDEARMENT from hers because YOURS WAS - a term of ENDEARMENT!
THANK you very much for "picking me up" on this!! :>)
WE GIRLS!! Virtual 'DAP'! :>) :>)
caligirl
greenlady--no apologies necessary! :-)
and yes, i did notice how she tried to speak over piper in that segment--kids that age will tell the TRUTH... and she knows that.
Honey01
Greenlady did you seen when Matt Lauer asked the little girl if "she missed school and her friends" and if she was "having a hard time catching up" in school?
Palin tried to spin the numerous days the children spent out of school and on the campaign trail as "life experience". She propositioned that their campaign experiences probably outweighed textbook learning. I say that is BS when two out of five of your kids are high school dropouts! They need to be in school as much as possible.
GreenLadyHere
Honey01: That/those statements make me "scream!"
The UN-VETTED ONE claims that her mother is a teacher. SHE knows that those children are suffering - INTELLECTUALLY [cognitive development] and EDUCATIONALLY [the factual materials.] Their SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, as it relates to their peers is also suffering! That child probably doesn't have that many friends. Annnnnnd, carrying around that baby is NOT BONDING. She has to sit with him and "talk" with him, especially since he may, more than likely, be DEVELOPMENTALLY DELAYED! He NEEDS stimulation NOW!!
Whew!! **shaking my head** Deep Breaths!! Those children are in bad shape! BS on the "life experience" EXCUSE!! Ask "KID ACTORS!"
I'm tha-rough!!! For NOW!!
caligirl
both she and papa palin are negligent.
GreenLadyHere
caligirl: ABSOLUTELY!! HE is CHAPTER 2! He has been "de-testiculated" since DAY 1 - probably of their relationship! His FUNCTION - RUN the STATE!!
You rarely saw the children "clinging" to him [or her for that matter!] He's been snow-boarding, etc.
Notice how the media has hidden him!? He is a DRONE!! He feels like a "dead-beat dad" living right in the house!!
Now I'm tha-rough - kinda! :>) :>)

She just said in an interview clip that "we didn't get the Hispanic vote." They didn't get the black vote at all. Why doesn't the media talk about that? The republican's need to make serious inroads with blacks if they hope to get our vote.
IslandGirl, Blacks and Latinos got the wake-up call when Tavis the Hater held his GOP Presidential Primary debate; a prime opportunity for the GOP to present their case to Black people why we should consider them for POTUS.
Only Tom Tancredo showed up. The rest (and that included McCain, Romney and Huckabee) didn't even BOTHER TO SHOW UP.
Eff the GOP. They have already been told numerous times about their failure to engage in outreach to the African-American and Latino communities and they continue to ignore that advice and those strategies - which is all I need to know about how serious they are about reaching out to me and mine.
And the Blacks and Latinos who are in the party aren't doing their share of heavy lifting, either; not by repeating ReThug talking points when trying to make their case to US, and condoning the bigotry of their colleagues by REMAINING SILENT.

and if they had any doubts...remember, they dissed the forum offered by Univision too
Looking back over the campaign, everyone now seems to see that there were a few key moments when John McCain did things that surrendered whatever chance he had to beat Barack Obama. At the top of the list has to be the choice of Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential nominee -- a choice that seemed fatal from the first for those who had eyes to see it, and soon revealed itself as such over the concluding weeks of the campaign. And McCain staffer and alter-ego Mark Salter is now conceding that the campaign suspension is probably another.
But what is easy to miss in these key moments is that most of them weren't simply what McCain did but how Obama reacted -- and the critical synergy between the two.
The campaign suspension was the key example.
It wasn't just that McCain suspended his campaign (and tried to postpone the debate). That wasn't the point at all. He unilaterally suspended his campaign and dared Obama not to suspend his. That was the key. Either Obama had to follow McCain's lead and suspend his campaign or reveal himself as the self-serving, all-about-himself, unpatriotic freak McCain's campaign had spent so many millions of dollars to portray him as. It was a classic play at the Republicans' 'bitch-slap' theory of electoral politics, with all the gendered weight and macho-hierarchy-setting the unlovely phrase implies.
But Obama didn't budge. I think there were a lot of Democrats who were really worried that McCain had put Obama in some kind of box or that Obama would see it as such and react accordingly. But he didn't.
And it went from McCain bigfooting Obama (with all that would have entailed), to Obama turning the stunt around on McCain. It undermined one of McCain's key selling points against Obama -- that he was tougher, more seasoned under pressure -- and further cemented the image of a man who was erratic and showed questionable judgments under pressure.
Sooo, let's REVIEW McAncient's Campaign FAILURES:
1. Choosing the UN-VETTED ONE as a VP running mate! DEMONSTRATED: POOR JUDGMENT and ERRATIC BEHAVIOR
2. "Suspending" (????) his campaign. DEMONSTRATED: ERRATIC BEHAVIOR and POOR JUDGMENT
3. President-Elect Obama DID NOT fall for the "OKIE-DOKE!! :>) :>) DEMONSTRATED: He could MULTI-TASK!! :>) :>)
Considering that bailout now stands at $900B with all the extra money AIG just got - the added tax loophole is just beyond reprehensible. Bush is doing all he can to set up Obama and wreck the country in the process.
Found this in the comments section at Ta-Nehisi Coates:
To anyone who thinks $600 million is too much to spend on a presidential campaign, here is a little context. Obama was not just running against another candidate, he was running against more than 300 years of American culture and mythology depicting Black americans as sub human. Think about all the books, newspapers, folk tales, movies, magazines etc. that in ways big and small were devoted to promoting this canard. At less than two million a year, I'd say that's the bargain of this or any millenium.

rikyrah: Tuesday, NOVEMBER 11, 2008 - VETERANS' DAY!
Sharing: I attended church with a BUFFALO SOLDIER for about 3 years. He passed at the age of 96. Before that time he was the second (I think) oldest living Buffalo Soldier!
He used to present programs and bring descendants of the Buffalo Soldiers to the program! It was VERY INSPIRING! :>)
God Bless them on their "special day!" :>)

First time I ever heard about Buffalo Soldiers was from the Bob Marley song Buffalo Soldier. That is so sad. Here an American first heard of this part of our history from a Jamaican songwriter.
"Buffalo Soldier Dread lock Rasta Buffalo Soldier Born in America Hey ya ya Hey ya ya Hey ya ya Hey ya ya"
I'm already on record saying that I think it should be Jesse Jackson, Jr. He's more than prepared for it, and give him 2 years to see if he can win over downstate Illinois. If he can't, he'll probably be knocked out in the Democratic Primary in 2010, and so be it. But, give him the chance.
Has anyone Read Jesse Jr's Book "A More Perfect Union"?
If you get a chance, it's a good read, and I think he more than made his case for a Cabinet position as Education Secretary.

This is from yesterday's Open Thread by BW Scott, but I thought it was so on point:
Axelrod said about Obama's ambition. This comment is from the CBS 60 minutes article.
"But it was whether he had that pathological drive to be president. You know, so often, what defines presidential candidates is this need to be president, to define themselves. He didn't have that. And, you know, we told him, 'You're gonna have to find some other way to motivate yourself.' And he did, which was what he could do as president."
This is the advantage Obama had over every candidate for President since Ronald Reagan and perhaps Paul Tsongas. He wanted to do things for the country, that he felt uniquely qualified to execute. I believe RR, TP, and perhaps Jimmy Carter wanted to move the country in a certain direction. RR was charismatic and succeeded. Carter and Tsongas were not good politicians. Carter has proven he is a moral person with genuine concern for justice and development.
None of the serious candidates in 2008 and 2004 were as in touch with the "do" part of President as Obama. The "be" president ambition will lead you to major in minors, as HRC and Johnny Mac campaigns did when they started losing.
There is a lesson there for all of us. What are you to do as a parent, Christian, Muslim, sister, brother, spouse, child, nephew/niece, cousin, uncle/aunt, etc.
But that same year, researchers discovered that some gay men astonishingly remained uninfected despite engaging in very risky sex with as many as hundreds of partners. These men had inherited a mutation from both their parents that made them virtually immune to HIV.
The mutation prevents a molecule called CCR5 from appearing on the surface of cells. CCR5 acts as a kind of door for the virus. Since most HIV strains must bind to CCR5 to enter cells, the mutation bars the virus from entering. A new AIDS drug, Selzentry, made by Pfizer Inc., doesn't attack HIV itself but works by blocking CCR5.

What is important to note in this article is that the CCR5 mutation is NOT found in folks of African descent...
However, there are cases of immunity found in African commercial sex workers which have a commonly different route of immunity:
More fodder for the suspicions that we don't have the healthcare needed in this country because the pharmaceutical industry can't make their money without the drugs.
whiterosebuddy
Yes CPL, They have known since the 90s that there has been a group of African female commercial sex workers who have immunity to HIV...despite there jobs they have not gone on to develop full blown AIDS.
But as usually the black doctor could not get a grant to do the research, now we have this study where they are talk about a group of European males with HIV ' O how reach...they probably learned the european males did not have the same genetic mutation capability as the African female commercial sex workers.
