Myth, Black people have been going backwards since Civil Rights was won. It's this type of helplessness and negative thinking that's causing us more harm than racism. Obama didn't win because of the economy, though the culmination of all the damage this current administration has done was perfect timing. He still would have won. Don't you get it: Barack and Michelle believed and took every action necessary to make their belief a reality. If you see obstacles, you'll run into them. If you dream beyond your wildest imagination and get help you can achieve. It might be something as simple as adding more fruit to your diet, or living abroad or being President.

I hear you about for the first time being proud. That's not an unfair thing to say. But I think you don't give OB enough credit by saying he's only prez because of the economy. We'll never for sure, but he ran an amazing campaign and I think he could have pulled it off regardless.

Ali, for the first time in my life, I am proud of my country. I don't expect you to understand the full ramification of that statement but it's so true. You see, African Americans in this country have been disappointed election after election. We barely can get African American's elected in single member council districts. For most of America to have embraced Barack is something none, I repeat no African American expected until we saw it happen. That's the reason for the emotion. We realized that had it not been for the failing economy, Obama probably would not be present. So there is still much negative sentiment to overcome. You elected to join this forum, so with it comes the honesty that I hope you can handle. For most of us, for the first time in our lives we are proud of the fact that our country elected the son of an African to the highest office most powerful position in the world. Mind boggling. Continue to read and hear our heartfelt sentiments.
