IM DISGUSTED THAT HE WON! MAYBE THE NEXT ROAD I HAVE TO TAKE IS TO POP OUT A FEW KIDS AND QUIT MY JOB!
  • Terri
For a moment there, the americans had convinced me that racism was too deep rooted and that they would never elect anyone other than a white person in to the White House. They had also convinced me that they were quite happy with what they had and relish the thought of another eight years of the same. But I was wrong - and boy am I deliriously happy that I was wrong. Congratulations and well done America. It would appear that you do know your self worth and that you deserve only the best and not just that, you do know that what happens in America affects the rest of us in the world. I look forward to this new era..
  • ochyming
    WOW!

Yes, USA took off its old clothes.

    A NEW DAWN indeed!
  • Bronze Trinity
You actually did it!!!! I'm so happy for you all, for Black people everywhere, and for the world. Can you believe this is happening??? This is bananas!!!! How can one man be so AMAZING!!!? Oh man, I wish he was my Prime Minister!
  • Teacher
O gave a great speech as always. He never disappoints. He seems so tired though, and perhaps now will be able to mourn the loss of his Gran. Michelle, our First Lady, looks so happy and radiant. Lord, please build a hedge of strength and love and protection around them. It seemed like I could detect a bullet proof vest on him and that breaks my heart.
  • CraigHickman
Yes. A bullet proof vest and a bullet proof screen around him.
  • BIGGIE_4_OBAMA
what happened to Michell Bachmann from Minnesota?
  • nickwah22
cnn.com is still calculating it. 47% to 43% for Bachmann
  • Teacher
I hope that psycho heffer loses.
  • TruthSeeker
Awww....they're all dressed up, and colour coordinated!
  • rikyrah

    Good Bless you

    President-Elect Obama
  • MsKitty
There are a half dozen slightly inebriated fortysomething sistas dancing in my living room, but I had to break away to say is this awesome or what? My emotions are all over the place but I wanted to say congratulations to my fellow JJPers. We did it!!! Best birthday present ever!

    Back to the party.
  • Lilytiger
    Great visual. Have fun.
  • bigassbelle
    joy.

  • Michigander2
    yes....President Elect...

    I will sleep well tonight......

President Obama will have our back for the next four years.
  • rikyrah
'President-Elect' Obama - David Gregory just said it.

and, I'll point this out. 11:46 pmEST, and Indiana still hasn't been called.
  • nickwah22
or NC. i am gettting impatient. They're so damn close!
  • babyming
I always thought I would be so happy to hear that Obama won. And I think it's wonderful news. Unfortunately, I'm so miserable about the death of my cat, I don't feel the happiness about Obama that I was hoping to feel. So I can't leave the "happy comment" I thought I would leave. But even without the happy feelings, I know how wonderful this is for the entire country. Best wishes to all of you who, like me, cheered Obama on during all this time. I felt honored when I voted for him this morning, and I'll be proud to have him as my President.
  • babyming
I just came back to look at the responses. I thank everyone who responded to my comment below. Yes, his name is Ming Skadaling, and he almost made it to 20 years and 3 months.
I actually feel some good feelings (not sure if it's happiness) this morning about Obama's victory. Love is love, and he's a good guy, and we all know he'll do his best to make this a better world. Of course, in addition to being a good person, he's extremely intelligent, accomplished, and experienced. So I'm sure we have some great things to look forward to.
  • Teacher
I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your cat. I understand, friend. If my cat passed. I'd feel just like you. Go ahead and mourn. It's ok.
  • Lilytiger
You mean ming, the one you named yourself on this site after? Oh I am sorry. I have my own little boy snoring next to me. This is his last year, I fear. They love like nothing else.

    I am sorry.
  • bigassbelle
oh honey, i'm so sorry about your kitty. (((hugs))) to you :(
  • Melinda
I'm so sorry about the loss of your pet; I hope that when your grief is less raw you will feel all the wonderful feelings about Obama's victory that are in your heart----he will be President for a long time, and there will be many opportunities to celebrate that fact. So take the time you need to mourn your loss and know that others understand and empathize. We'll all be here when you're ready to join the celebrating.

I still ache over the loss of a dear cat of mine who died last January, so my sympathy is very genuine.
  • 19082008
I'm 44, born two months after LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act into law. Right now, I'm happiest for our elders. My mother, who will be 81 next week, was born into Jim Crow and I'm d*** sure she's ecstatic now.
This will be good. Just so happy that Americans kicked the idiocy of J-Mac, SaySay, Joe the Plumber, etc. to the curb.
  • nickwah22
    AKA?

Farewell Bush. Now it is time to undo the damage
  • TruthSeeker
There's a huge crowd of celebrators gathered outside the White House, as per CNN.
  • nickwah22
Did anyone notice that Arizona hasn't been called yet? There is still a chance for a terrible and embarrassing spanking!
  • nickwah22
    nevermind..
  • freespiritbty
I called my mom. My 95 year old granddaddy and 90 year old Aunt...I am so happy that my parents, my nephews, 19, 14, 13 have seen this day. I am happy beyond words. We have a long way to go in race relations, but Obama becoming President is a step in the right direction.

Obama has inspired not only blacks, but all of Americans, black, white, native american, east indian, asian, hispanic, it's so historic.

JJP have been my refuge for the past 2 years. Thanks so much for such a powerful tool and discuss politics.

    PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!

    SCHADENEFRAUDE!!
  • allheavens
They have called Florida and Virginia for Obama. I want them all. Come on Indiana!!
  • babyming
Listening to McCain's concession speech now, it's interesting to see how positive he is; he actually sounds like Obama: positive, classy, generous. This is how Obama has ALWAYS been! I'm glad McCain was classy, but he should have been classy more often.
  • Nate_Wesley
How different this campaign would be had he stuck to his promise of running a honorable campaign on the issues.
  • BIGGIE_4_OBAMA
where was this for the entire campaign?

damn, he would have been better off telling rove to go screw himself

    I AM BARACK OBAMA
  • Esquire
Wow. Although it was inevitable I still am a bit stunned.
  • Admiral_Komack
I know exactly how you feel!
When I saw that Obama went over 270, I had a quiet moment; I stood still and the world got very quiet.
I don't think I will ever experience that again.
  • nickwah22
I can't go to sleep until I see Sen Obama speak and the MO, IN and NC results. Let's get this poppin!

They have a sign up sheet for volunteers to help Bush pack his sh!t and get the hell out on Nov 5th. I signed up for the 3 - 8 shift.
  • nickwah22
Speaking of Palin, does she go back tomorrow?? This is so exciting!!
  • Nate_Wesley
Hey, more time to shop for fancy snow boots to wear while on her snow machine.

The RNC will pay for it, of course.
  • Nate_Wesley
John McCain is conceding right now.
  • nickwah22
I just got a report of fireworks and gun shots in brooklyn =/
  • Trumystique
Umm I heard fireworks in my hood in BK but no guns. Where were the shots heard?
  • Nate_Wesley
Somebody tell the jiggaboo crowd to shut that shyt down. It's celebration time, but it's not time for America's Freaknik.
  • msmartin
John McCain is giving his best speech of the campaign. He is real.
  • CPL
And he admonished his supporters to shut up the booing. This is the classiest I've seen him.

And he's giving one hell of a concession speech. But he just blew it with the mention of Caribou Barbie. Cindy's looking like she could slap homegirl for causing her husband to lose. She looks like she wants to cry, and the First Dude looks relieved...
  • Nate_Wesley
McCain: "I don't know what more we could have done to win"

Oh, I don't know. Run a coherent campaign on the issues. Pick a credible running mate. When the economy tanks, have a sound economic plan. Stuff like that.
  • delfinajones
Dear God thank you for letting me live to see this day!
  • CPL
    Jesse in in TEARS, Y'all.

I'm doing the snoopy dance. And McCaint is giving his concession speech.
  • Rhondacoca
Yes I did! It was very touching!
  • NO ID
    WOW OMG
  • rikyrah
Anyone watching Jesse crying on MSNBC?
  • CPL
Caught that before they went to McCain's concession speech. McCain finally acknowledged us and is making many references to African-Americans in history.
  • nickwah22
    Cell phone lines are down.
  • rikyrah
You ain't lying. I can't get in touch with my sister.
  • allheavens
"O" Man had me on my knees tonight. Thank you God, Thank you Jesus. Thank you Barrack. Thank you people of America!!!

  • OSIRIS1906
We did it !!!!!!!! Congrats !!!!!!!!!
    I'm in shock !!!!! in a good way !!!!
  • Michelle
    We're both crying here.

It started in earnest when NPR just now reported that McCain just called Obama to concede.
  • CPL
Did he refer to Obama as "That One"?

"That One" just whipped your ass, McCain. Now go take it out on Caribou Barbie.

John Lewis is about to make me choke up as he shares his thoughts on Obama's election.
  • kalagenesis
    Barack Obamaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  • Jean
    Sublime. Nirvana.

Thank God, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

November 5th is my 60th birthday. Look what I got for my birthday! I thought I would write something deep and prolific... but I am without words. Joyful tears have drowned the words. Yes. We. Did.
  • CraigHickman
