I've noticed that the BQPFRC Operative achieves optimum organism with his audience when he can fit in Clarence Thomas or Condi Rice in his conversation in regards to the need for Obama to appoint “quality Blacks” in his cabinet.

You and other Progressive-Fundamentalists choose to look at the Republicans and make note of the lack of Black people and thus charge that they have a low tolerance for diversity. You are comfortable that as “Democratic Sellouts” you are on “the right side”.

I challenge you to pull out a map of where Black people live in highest concentrations and make note that these are some of the strongest Democratic areas in the nation. All of this despite the realities of the status of education, public safety, economic development in these same places. As the logic goes among the “Black Quasi-Socialist Progressive-Fundamentalist Racism Chaser” community – despite the fact that the Democrats dominate these institutions.

Continued HOPE is achieved in that the Democrats and Progressives promise Blacks that in receiving their continued SUPPORT rather than CRITICISM their continued advocacy at the national level will one day allow resources to be RAINED DOWN UPON the Black community……as long as it doesn't criticize the interim outcomes that the Democrats are delivering and as long as we Blacks stay unified.

Christian Progressive – what YOU NEED to be noting about the absence of Black folks in the Republican party is that their finger prints are not on the controls of Black America – despite the blame that they receive (New Orleans, etc). The fact that Progressive control both the politics and the MEDIA in Black America makes it no surprise that the ODD MAN OUT is the problem rather than those who are actually RUNNING IT.

One example, oddly enough, is Al Sharpton. There was a period of time when he was extremely vocal about how the Democratic party took Blacks for granted every political season — to date us, wine us and dine us, but never take us home to meet Mom and Dad. Sharpton went so far as to suggest that Black voters consider leaving the party and becoming independent (which I did).

I think that Black Republicans are in a position where they MUST do this or something similar. Otherwise, you'll never get the respect you want — from Dems or Republicans.

I do so totally understand where you are coming from. In terms of GOP recruitment, I will say depending on the region that you are from will determine whether the efforts of recruitment by the GOP will be successful.

When I was young not to long ago in my area, Jack Kemp was huge into sharing the message of the GOP with Black folks. Also, I believe more folks in my area were card carrying members of the party as well.

On a personal level, I have learned over the years that all of my Pastors and their wives have been and are Republicans, first because of social issues, then the stance on taxes, schools, etc.

But me, my friends, pastors we vote according to our interests and what is in the best interest of our community.

In regard to the process, I know a brother that was recruited by the GOP to run for office, when the democrats didn't give him the time of day. Of course he was qualified ( I hate even having to say that), has the beauty family, but important to me, has a long history of demonstrated service to our community. Not only did he run as a republican, he won and had a very impressive win.

There is a politician in my area, that recently won a very dirty race, he is white, but this man is at every black event, party, community forum etc. and people were like I don't care if he is a republican, I am voting for him because he has shown his commitment to our community.

He didn't “drum up” an issue to galvanize our people to have them come out and vote for him like his opponent did. They knew his service, and again demonstrated commitment to our community.

All I am saying is, when folks like James Harris, that begged John McCain to go act Barack, or Ken Blackwell, we tend to be skeptical of their motives, especially when we haven't seen them at work for us regarding issues of concern.

If all we have are images of them giving the company line if you will, people will not give them the time of day.

Prior to the election, I didn't have a problem with Michael Steele, now I must admit, I do.

In conclusion, I feel you, but I don't agree with the methods as one posters described here “…not the party of Lincoln, but the Party of Rove.”

I'm not offended by the terms used here, because some of the behavior of my fellow black conservatives/Republicans has been that degrading. Not only to others, but to the very image of black conservatism in America. Thanks to people like, say, James Harris, we're (mostly) all viewed as a bunch of coons who love life on the plantation and wouldn't have it any other way.

Like I said to Miranda yesterday, the GOP and conservatives do have to acknowledge their checkered relationship with minorities. We've screwed over everyone except whites in the name of political expediency. And part of that acknowledgement includes enduring the name-calling and slammed doors, whether they're deserved or not. So, to me, that's fine. I can't get upset or offended about an image that we ourselves created and allowed to spread unchecked.

All that said, I don't think the labels apply to Michael Steele. He seems (and I've only become a recent follower) to be conservative enough to appeal to some elements of the base, but smart enough to realize that in order for the GOP to survive, it needs everybody's-black, white, whatever-voice. If Steele wins the chairmanship, a lot of the fringe elements of the party will bolt (they already aren't fans because of his somewhat moderate stance on abortion). I see that as a good thing.

As for Ken Buckwell, he's another story. He's content to be the token Black apologist. His job is to ingratiate himself with as many white folks as possible, in hopes that he'll be seen as one of the few “good ones”. He's already proven that he will cut our figurative throats at the polls, if it means helping Republicans stay in power.

Buckwell is the kind of kneegrow that need not be shouted down or argued with. He just needs to be mysteriously removed from the scene, never to be heard from again. ;-)
