Those kids at Morgan State don't play. When I asked them about that alleged "incident", they said to me: "Ms. Stills, we're in college. We don't have a lot of money. As expensive as Oreos are, we wouldn't waste our money to buy cookies to throw at Michael Steele to make a point."

That's all I needed to hear to verify Steele was lying. The fact he tried to lay it on a Historically Black College, damned near put him in the Slave Catcher category. No other college he visited in Maryland, did he make this allegation - but he goes to Morgan State University and floated that rumor.

Its a good thing that Charlie Rangel is a Democrat who still has "important work" to do for the Progressive cause. Otherwise Rikyrah and Christian Progressive-Fundamentalist would be attacking him for preserving the tax shelter of an Oil company:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/25/nyregion/25ra...

The Congressman, the Donor and the Tax Break

$1.1 BILLION in taxes lost to the US Treasury.

Good job Rangel. You knew that the usual suspects would be silent. They might even argue that the $1m donated to the school named in your honor will educate far more people than the $1.1 in taxes paid to the government would have.

Gee Webb - here I was prepared to read your line of thinking by going to your BLOG SITE and - low and behold - you don't have any postings on it for me to evaluate your line of thinking and your mental state.

For a person who is writing a book on the TREAT of "Colin, Clarence and Condi" I would think that you would actually WRITE on your own blog.

Webb - I've been monitoring "Black Quasi-Socialist Progressive-Fundamentalist Racism Chaser" talk radio during this "After Obama" period in America, as coined by Spike Lee.

I've noticed that the BQPFRC Operative achieves optimum organism with his audience when he can fit in Clarence Thomas or Condi Rice in his conversation in regards to the need for Obama to appoint "quality Blacks" in his cabinet.

I need your help. Besides the fact that neither Rice or Thomas are elected and considering the fact that there are now mover 10,000 Black elected officials in this country.....what exactly provides you with mental pacification that in attacking these few Black Conservatives with power that you are on a pathway to address the vast problems within our community that the "Unchallenged 10,000" are presiding over?

I can't image that your book would be worthy of spending money on.

a VOTER SUPPRESSOR.

Everything that Black folk did to get the right to vote, and what are we supposed to call someone who would lie down and help those who want to take our vote away?
Rikyrah – could you contrast the “voter suppression” by SoS Ken Blackwell with the “voter suppression” of the current SoS of Ohio who just happens to be a DEMOCRAT?

It appears to me that the only difference is the party.

You need to decide if you are INDEED for Voting Rights protection or if you only are an operative – looking at the offenses of your enemies.

I thought that this is what the White racist judicial system did and you were fighting to change it?
I posted a link to a Washington Post article that tried to explain to the rest of us why African-Americans would want to continue membership in a party affiliation that continues to SHOUT at them that they are not really wanted in the party except as decoration when the leaders want to hollar about how “diverse” they are (face it, having 36 African-American delegates in attendance at the RNC National Convention, out of an estimated 2000 is as much diversity as they can stand).
Christian Progressive:

Can I let out the proper analysis of the situation that the Black Democrat faces?

You and other Progressive-Fundamentalists choose to look at the Republicans and make note of the lack of Black people and thus charge that they have a low tolerance for diversity. You are comfortable that as "Democratic Sellouts" you are on "the right side".

I challenge you to pull out a map of where Black people live in highest concentrations and make note that these are some of the strongest Democratic areas in the nation. All of this despite the realities of the status of education, public safety, economic development in these same places. As the logic goes among the "Black Quasi-Socialist Progressive-Fundamentalist Racism Chaser" community - despite the fact that the Democrats dominate these institutions.

Continued HOPE is achieved in that the Democrats and Progressives promise Blacks that in receiving their continued SUPPORT rather than CRITICISM their continued advocacy at the national level will one day allow resources to be RAINED DOWN UPON the Black community......as long as it doesn't criticize the interim outcomes that the Democrats are delivering and as long as we Blacks stay unified.

Christian Progressive - what YOU NEED to be noting about the absence of Black folks in the Republican party is that their finger prints are not on the controls of Black America - despite the blame that they receive (New Orleans, etc). The fact that Progressive control both the politics and the MEDIA in Black America makes it no surprise that the ODD MAN OUT is the problem rather than those who are actually RUNNING IT.

This web site is a part of that propaganda circle.

Answer me this Christian Progressive-Fundamentalist - at what point will you be satisfied that the Progressives run enough of the US government where YOU are comfortable in DEMANDING effective changes FROM THEM rather than working as an advocate WITH THEM to bring change?

It is clear that you and others are complicit in the ongoing problems that are left unchecked WITHIN the Black community.

Christian Progressive:

Can I let out the proper analysis of the situation that the Black Democrat faces?

You and other Progressive-Fundamentalists choose to look at the Republicans and make note of the lack of Black people and thus charge that they have a low tolerance for diversity. You are comfortable that as “Democratic Sellouts” you are on “the right side”.

Answer me this Christian Progressive-Fundamentalist – at what point will you be satisfied that the Progressives run enough of the US government where YOU are comfortable in DEMANDING effective changes FROM THEM rather than working as an advocate WITH THEM to bring change?

It is clear that you and others are complicit in the ongoing problems that are left unchecked WITHIN the Black community.

The minority members of the GOP-once we unite and come up with a coherent plan ourselves-need to give the GOP the finger until they recognize that they can't win without us.

The GOP doesn't get-or deserve-first rights to a strategy on how to do minority outreach just because minority members of their party created it. Not without a big reconcilliation.

GAME OVER.

And “Run Tel Dat” is a direct reference to a Martin Lawrence comedy concert, but you probably don't even watch entertainment like that.

I'm a liberal and damned proud of if. What was your point?

Well said, my brotha. I would add, if I may, that the few Blacks and Latinos who remain in the GOP, need to become much more vocal and active in their opposition to how the party regards the masses of Blacks and Latinos.

One example, oddly enough, is Al Sharpton. There was a period of time when he was extremely vocal about how the Democratic party took Blacks for granted every political season -- to date us, wine us and dine us, but never take us home to meet Mom and Dad. Sharpton went so far as to suggest that Black voters consider leaving the party and becoming independent (which I did).

I think that Black Republicans are in a position where they MUST do this or something similar. Otherwise, you'll never get the respect you want -- from Dems or Republicans.

Brother or Sister Republican 2008 ,

I do so totally understand where you are coming from. In terms of GOP recruitment, I will say depending on the region that you are from will determine whether the efforts of recruitment by the GOP will be successful.

When I was young not to long ago in my area, Jack Kemp was huge into sharing the message of the GOP with Black folks. Also, I believe more folks in my area were card carrying members of the party as well.

On a personal level, I have learned over the years that all of my Pastors and their wives have been and are Republicans, first because of social issues, then the stance on taxes, schools, etc.

But me, my friends, pastors we vote according to our interests and what is in the best interest of our community.

In regard to the process, I know a brother that was recruited by the GOP to run for office, when the democrats didn't give him the time of day. Of course he was qualified ( I hate even having to say that), has the beauty family, but important to me, has a long history of demonstrated service to our community. Not only did he run as a republican, he won and had a very impressive win.

There is a politician in my area, that recently won a very dirty race, he is white, but this man is at every black event, party, community forum etc. and people were like I don't care if he is a republican, I am voting for him because he has shown his commitment to our community.

He didn't "drum up" an issue to galvanize our people to have them come out and vote for him like his opponent did. They knew his service, and again demonstrated commitment to our community.

All I am saying is, when folks like James Harris, that begged John McCain to go act Barack, or Ken Blackwell, we tend to be skeptical of their motives, especially when we haven't seen them at work for us regarding issues of concern.

If all we have are images of them giving the company line if you will, people will not give them the time of day.

Prior to the election, I didn't have a problem with Michael Steele, now I must admit, I do.

In conclusion, I feel you, but I don't agree with the methods as one posters described here "...not the party of Lincoln, but the Party of Rove."

I had no intention on weighing in on this, but since my name came up....

I'm not offended by the terms used here, because some of the behavior of my fellow black conservatives/Republicans has been that degrading. Not only to others, but to the very image of black conservatism in America. Thanks to people like, say, James Harris, we're (mostly) all viewed as a bunch of coons who love life on the plantation and wouldn't have it any other way.

Like I said to Miranda yesterday, the GOP and conservatives do have to acknowledge their checkered relationship with minorities. We've screwed over everyone except whites in the name of political expediency. And part of that acknowledgement includes enduring the name-calling and slammed doors, whether they're deserved or not. So, to me, that's fine. I can't get upset or offended about an image that we ourselves created and allowed to spread unchecked.

All that said, I don't think the labels apply to Michael Steele. He seems (and I've only become a recent follower) to be conservative enough to appeal to some elements of the base, but smart enough to realize that in order for the GOP to survive, it needs everybody's-black, white, whatever-voice. If Steele wins the chairmanship, a lot of the fringe elements of the party will bolt (they already aren't fans because of his somewhat moderate stance on abortion). I see that as a good thing.

While I agree that Ken Blackwell is a classic Uncle Ruckus, I think that Michael Steele has worked to remove himself from that category. He appeared at the 2007 State of the Black Union and actually talked with some sense, and he has gone out of his way to criticize the GOP for its refusal to reach out and hug Black voters the same way they embrace Joe the Plumber.

As for Ken Buckwell, he's another story. He's content to be the token Black apologist. His job is to ingratiate himself with as many white folks as possible, in hopes that he'll be seen as one of the few "good ones". He's already proven that he will cut our figurative throats at the polls, if it means helping Republicans stay in power.

Buckwell is the kind of kneegrow that need not be shouted down or argued with. He just needs to be mysteriously removed from the scene, never to be heard from again. ;-)
