		<description>I was home in New York City, on the Upper West Side, with my husband and two sons, champagne at the ready.  Since I remember going to bed with Gore being president and waking up to Bush as President, I was SCARED!  Then CNN called it at 11, and New York went wild. All of us were screaming, we went out on the terrace and watched all the other people on their terraces screaming, banging pots, honking horns, running up and down the street.  Folks poured out of the bodega across the street, yelling O-BA-MA!  Everybody&#039;s cell phones were ringing.  I was way too happy and stunned to cry--so my 11 year old owes me $10, because he bet me I&#039;d be crying the whole night.  But I don&#039;t cry when I am supremely happy, so I didn&#039;t cry on my wedding day, or when I got ordained, or when my kids were born--or when Obama was elected.  IT WAS JUST TOOO GOOD!!!!!!!!!</description>

We all started counting down to when the polls closed out west, and the cheering became many decibels louder as we all realized the screen read: Projected Winner, Barack Obama!!  Then we joined the rest of the city out on the street, marched to Independence Hall, then marched back to City Hall to join up with the thousands that had gathered on Broad St.  I have never seen so many happy Philadelphians!!  And there was no  sense of vandalism like when the Phillies won the week before.</description>

		<description>Tuesdy morning I called my 85 year old dad.  He told me he&#039;d already gone to the fairgrounds in Maryland and cast his vote.  The polls opened at 7 am. He told me he was the first in line and the first to go into the booth.  His heart was rich with excitement and confidence.  He told me that &quot;Barack&#039;s got this.&quot;  His voice was music to my ears.  I said I love you Pop, and went to work.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The energy that day was so intense.  At times I had t remind myself to breathe.  I chatted with my daughters online.  They live in D.C.and Baltimore.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I celebrated election night at a party with frends.  We met a Tory&#039;s house.  She&#039;s a Minnesota Delegate who went to the DNC in Denver. I sat with her 80 year old grandfather, Mr. Barls the whole evening..  He celebrated his 80th birthday on election day too!  he was beaming with pride and joy!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;My dad lives in Maryand, so I wanted to be in the presence of my elders.  I wanted to hear about his life  journey.  Mr. Barls told me that he thought he&#039;d &quot;never live to see the day&quot; a black man would ever become POTUS. He never once complained about his experiences.  He carried a sweet grace and confident strength.  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;We all sang happy birthday to him just before they announced Barack the winner.  I watched  the tears streaming down Mr. Barls cheeks and we hugged.  Everyone started screaming, crying and hugging each other.    I still keep the tissue close a hand, because the tears still flow from time to time.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;President-Elect Barack Obama!</description>

(took a tequila shot every once in awhile just to calm my nerves...lol)  When the networks called Iowa the minute the polls closed, I cried and felt so freaking proud that my state turned blue. We did it on January 3rd and we were fired up and ready to go for the general. Mostly I cried because we were a part of this campaign as a *family*--our boys rode bikes when we door knocked, they shook Barack&#039;s hand several times at rallies!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;We were watching with our boys when Keith called the election, I cried (did you hear KO&#039;s voice quiver??) and we had a huge family hug. He was like, &#039; I&#039;m no math genius, BUT...and then he mentioned the West Coast&#039;. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I scrambled to the interactive electoral college map, clicked on CA, OR, WA and HI, and saw it - over 270. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I didn&#039;t really believe it. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;And then, I realized they were just waiting for the polls to close out west. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Once that happened, David Gregory kicked it to Keith O, who said it.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;i&gt;Barack Obama is projected to be the next President of the United States of America. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;NBC News Calling for the Democratic Candidate,  the states of California - 55 electoral votes, Washington -   11 electoral votes, Oregon -   7 electoral votes and Hawaii  - 4 electoral votes. &lt;/i&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I wont forget that Sista at Spelman collapsed on the floor.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;then, the phone began to ring.</description>
