Obama would not be competitive if Dean hadn't of laid the groundwork.

Kudos to Obama and Axelrod for seeing the wisdom of Dean's 50 State Strategy

Harold Ford ignored Dean's strategy and lost his bid for the Senate as a result.

That means Harold Ford will be looking for new dance partners if he still has his job as DLC Chair after January, because none of his candidates are winning re-elections.

Harry Truman said it best: “If you're going to give people a choice between a fake Republican and a REAL one, they will pick the REAL Republican every time.”

The DLC cost Gore and Kerry their elections back in 2000 and 2004 by admonishing them not to fight back against the ReThug Smear Machine. Barack Obama ignored them and fought back and answered every smear, which is what we wanted Gore and Kerry to do in the first place.

The first cry of protest you heard was when Dean got elected as DNC Chair. Obama would do well to reward him by either giving him a Cabinet position – but my preference is that he throw his weight in support behind Dean to be re-elected to another term as DNC Chair. He has done well in the job.

Which is why I still get pissed off that after Dean's initial success back in 2006, James Carville went on TV, pronounced Dean a “failure” and suggested that the DNC replace Howard Dean with Harold Ford.

Fortunately for us, people threatened to quit the Democratic Party and withhold money from the DNC if that went down. Shutting up Carville was the right move.

The Democratic party is much stronger and unified now than it was four years ago.
