Therefore it would be beneficial that blacks and gays engage in dialogueon differnt aspects of this issue so that we can form bonds where possible in order to keep this from becoming a wedge issue that makes people start voting for people who dont have their best interest in mins,(basically republicans). You se when we start calling these people racist rich white gays that dont care about Black issues or take other conrntational stances regardless of whats been said by the other side we playy right into the hands of provacateurs and agents of dis-unity.I dont mean to sound arrogant but Im a free thinker and therefore take a lot of shots,I believe knowledge is all about continuing to challenge our perceptions and putting ourselves in the others shoes,Ive learned this from experience from being subjected to a lot of racism in all white scools and later witnessing raw racism in the pen,Racism is the by product of lack of self worth and when you call someone a racist you only reinforce their racism and lack of self esteem Remember a soft word turns away a grievious attack.Obamas campaign was an illustration of this in motion

It is my observation that a lot of these comments stem from anger at white people and most of the threads are perceived from a us vs them reality Whenever I bring up the subject of Black racism.and we as people being subject to manipulation from sources stoking that anger I become the subject of charachter attacks rather such as being called arrogant, batshitcrazy, etc,If nothing else I am confident in my ability to access elitist world governmental strusture.pscho sociological media manipulation and most important cause and effect in relation to objectives,I fell that we as Black people can greatly enhance our power by viewing are problems outside of the context of race, realizing that these are universal problems and bonding with like minds to solve them,We tend to get to caught up in the boundaries of racial dialogue, therfore limiting action on the problem,Prop 8 is a good example. There are many different reasons why “some in the gay community are blamig blacks.,I doubt that pure racism is a factor although some element of racil discord is evident. Most people arent racist on the level of white supremist. So I would take race out of the equation and deal with the fact that the majoritty of blacks that voted for Prop 8 did so out of religious reasons, Basically Prop 8 is unconstitutional,Most laws that dont protect your body or property are unconstitutional, therfore it is a civil rights matter,However you cant equate it with Blak civil rights because one is basic human rights another is whats socially acceptable,The other thing is that Blacks have been fighting for basic rights for over 200 years,Gays have been trying to get marries just recently It takes time. Well, everyone doesn't -- Obama simply overcame an extra-high hurdle. I strongly recommend the article on the first page of the NYT Week In Review section on how Obama won over working class whites in PA. Basically, they were deeply prejudiced against him -- he just was so good he won them over. Personally I don't think they will ever be able to be as prejudiced as they were again after that vote and with this president. I just think subconscious stuff is too strong and looking at a black man doing a great job (which he has yet to do but I truly believe he will) at the world's toughest job (or one of them) will play a huge role. I hope the Obama folks will let us in and propose some stuff that his former volunteers and ardent supporters can do to help him succeed besides emailing our congresspeople from time to time -- that would be great.

That kind of attitude from the WSJ is why I couldn't stand McCain's concession speech — like, whoo hoo, no more having to hear that everybody doesn' t have the same shot. I have every since the 2004 speech. He was speaking to my heart. Just as someone mentioned on another thread, he set out to stop the demeaning of one group for another. Call me simple, but I don't see whats wrong with doing the right thing. A part of the right thing in politics is stating your case without demeaning others and groups. Bush and his ilk had made it so popular to demean whole groups of nameless faceless A.m.e.r.i.c.a.n.s. I don't know many other people felt it, but because of the rhetoric that republicans spit, I was devalued as a person because I am African American. It hurt. I can't tell you how many times during the primary that I cried and prayed and wondered why for so long minorities (all) have been treated and thought of in such a terrible way. I cried at the way Bill and Hillary turned on us and called out for "their" folks to help them win. I cried when I thought of these things and of recent times when I hated been treated horribly because I am a proud black woman. I literally cried out to God and asked why with a broken heart. The better Obama did, the more he fought (quietly), the more he came out on top of all the ugliness, I got stronger.

I said all this to say, if he could build strength and hope in me and millions of others and stand up tall (like I always do) and believe in and keep walking for what is right regardless to what he was up against how could any black man speak out against that. I have not forgot one of those mother fuckers - Not one.

rikyrah, I had and have so much faith in Barack Obama. I have every since the 2004 speech.
