President-elect Barack Obama's two daughters Malia and Sasha have stepped foot inside the White House for the first time.

The two girls, aged 10 and seven, were taken on a tour of the building that will be their new home.

At the invitation of Laura Bush, the pair got to see their new bedrooms and the rest of the house. The tour was part of a trip to the US capital that also involved visits to potential new schools.

Alison Stewart will sub for Rachel tonight...just saw it on the website...I had to look because if Arianna was subbing I would be watching a rerun of Law & Order on TNT or slitting my wrists...anything's better than listening to Arianna host a news talk show. Last night was truly painful.

Mad that I missed Alison tonight...I've had a media crush on that woman since her MTV days.

Arianna is alright as a guest. As a guest host...not so much.

Maybe this has been addressed already, but I am trying to figure out why now there seems to be such a love affair between the Clintons and the Republicans. There seems to be this overwhelming support from everybody that appears on the cable news shows. I know that Hillary aligned herself with McCain during the primaries against Obama, but besides that, what else have the Clintons done to get favor from their party? I really am trying to understand all of this.

Just goes to show you how corrupt the gov't is and how they work to subvert the citizens of this country. Also the Clintons will do ANYTHING to stay in power. They are Democrats in name only.

Word, H&F. II it's one thing I've learned is labels are oh so limiting. Democrats, Republicans,conservatives, liberals etc.; they are labels. They are used to define and coveup,manipulate and manuever one's agenda. It doesn't matter what you name it, along as you claim it.

I agree that the label that seems to apply the most is opportunists.

Clinton's DLC was basically Republican Lite. It was Southern, it was centrist, but it certainly did the bidding of Republicans during the Nineties.

Did you see Lieberman's press conference after the vote today?? Better her than Sarah Palin. I agree the health care reform position makes much more sense.

Just two weeks since The Election....I'm starting to get used to the sound of the words "President-elect Obama," but I still smile inside each time I hear them or read them.....

I don't cry happy tears every day, but probably every other day. It's been such an emotional roller coaster, all those months leading up to The Election. I confess I did not truly believe America would do the right thing. I was shocked and surprised and elated on November 4th----after the polls closed out West----and I have just been savoring each day since then.

Finding new footing with my Republican friends, finding our way toward a "new normal" wherein their ways of thinking and their choices for leadership in our country are on their way out. And where I can feel more bold, more empowered, and a lot less alone. I live in a Republican area---have to sing the "livin' in a Red state blues" pretty often; but now I feel connected to a *majority* of Americans, who made the same choice that I did. Very nice feeling.

I am certain that I will not agree with everything PE Obama does. But my, oh, my, the difference it makes to be able to trust and respect the President. It's a new day, indeed!

At least once a day I catch myself shaking my head and either thinking or saying "we have a BLACK president!"

That's crazy to me; I really didn't think it was going to happen and boy was it a hell of a ride.

Thanks......I see that I will have to do this because I'm not taking 8 or 9 pills a day like half my family does.

"Countdown" and "Rachel Maddow" are the only two news shows I regularly watch. As much of a news guy I am, I really can't stand to sit and watch the newschannels much during the day--a lot of their time filling material is absolute dreck. I'd much rather follow it online. As such, I'll subscribe to Talking Point Memo's YouTube channel or other linked video clips I find from reading blogs and various sites.

Don't let a bunch of talking heads get your blood pressure up, Miranda!
