Comments on: What do they mean when they call Obama a ’socialist’?

Will any of you please satisfy your views and judgements with actual resarch about policies and how they match up with the Constitution. If the overall policy package proposed by Obama creates a government that takes away the ability of American citizens to govern themselves, by enslaving through over taxation and regulation, then that resembles Socialism. This is the fundumental “change” Obama wants to move this country toward. Only racists themselves look for evidence of racism. Conservatives principles bring freedom and opportunity to everyone. The Government seeks to control and gain power through dividing people in the way that this article seeks to divide through false acusations that are so far fetched and unfounded. Be honest with yourselves, drop your hatred and political bigotry toward Conservatives that want fredom for everyone and believe in the power of the individual, not the government.

I am really disappointed by xenophobia, fear and hate the McCain campaign is using to try to change the subject from the economy. The McCain campaign even admits that is the plan:

A ‘top McCain strategist’ said, “It’s a dangerous road, but we have no choice. If we keep talking about the economic crisis, we’re going to lose.”(1)

It is doubly frustrating because I was pulling for McCain to come through the primaries because I thought he was the best candidate the Republicans had to offer and would run a good campaign. It is like the Republican Party has hijacked his campaign and is in win at all costs mode.

I think Obama confirmed he is a socialist when he told the plumber who questioned him about his tax plan that he wanted to to “spread the wealth around.”

This is such bull. Look up the Communist Manifesto on Wikipedia. Read about Karl Marx. Compare his philosophy to Obama's plans. They have a lot in common. I wouldn't vote for Obama or Marx and one is black. The other isn't.

The irrational hates just keep on comin'.

Yeah, when I start reading about Obama was going to bring socialism in America I knew where it was coming from. I remember way back when I was a about 11 or 12, then President Reagan was against MLK birthday being a national holiday. his justification was that MLK had some kind connections with communism. I didn't understand what it meant. All I knew was that did not make any sense. MLK was a man of God and communism was godless.

It is only when I began studying in college did I come to understand that calling Black leader commies and socialist was code speak for "dem darkies simpletons are happy with their lot in life. It's those commie pinkos agitating them into wanting empowerment.

Well ain't Barack the darkie suppose to satisfied with just being the democratic primary race. No. He wants more. He wants to be president. He must be up to some commie pinko stuff.

I'm not surprise that white folks says that about Obama. It is just sad the quite a few Black folks are falling for this hook line and sinker.

Mr. Lewis was right; their rallies were/are setting the tone for some unhinged person to get the idea and hurt Barack and or his family.

My mother is the same age as Mr. Lewis and lived in the south enduring the injustice of the system and later was an active participant in the civil rights movement, and she sees from the McCain/Palin team what she saw during those times.

My mom agrees with Mr. Lewis and said he shouldn't take anything back because he was speaking the truth and she said if anything were to happen to Barack, she would personally hold McCain responsible.

She said my husband is not alive to see this day, but I am and the Lord willing if I am alive on election day, I will vote for Barack in his honor.

Our elders know ugly when they see it and at this point McCain isn't trying to hide it. I have another Aunt who went as far to say IF Barack doesn't win, she will never vote for another white person again....
