I am so happy to see this. I'm class of '86, and even though that was a long time ago, my wonderful years at TAMU feel like yesterday. I decided late in 2007 that Barack Obama would be the best choice for our country. I live a long way from Texas now, and I often wished I could have been closer so I could convey my thoughts about this man to today's students, but it looks like the students and the BCS area already got the message. Good Ags Vote Obama. Gig 'em.

I used to be a part of Aggieland myself. Bryan and College Station are basically separated by a street, I think. Not two miles, really. They border each other.

A & M, as everyone described is very traditionalist, militaristic, and conservative, insular, and intolerant of dissenting thought.

However, looking back at the Democratic primaries, Brazos Country, which covers both Bryan and College Station, voted overwhelmingly for Barack Obama instead of Hillary Clinton.

While the endorsement for Barack Obama is still shocking, the primary vote was the indication earlier in the year that it might happen.

Likely the appeal to hope and change found favor with the college students. And a promise to end an irresponsible use of military resources, particularly young recruits, appealed to parents, community leaders, and university faculty.

Francis,

I've tried to get ones from folks that DO NOT drink the Kool-Aid. They may not gush, but bottom line - they know Barack Obama is better for this country than John McCain.

Regarding the papers that endorsed Bush on '04 but are now endorsing Obama, I've picked up on a recurring theme: it seems that McCain's selection of Palin was a dealbreaker for them. If you go back and read those endorsements almost all have a paragraph saying that McCain's judgment is suspect because of his VP choice.
