I think there's no gold or silver to guarantee taking over $700 billion in Paper that will be worthless if China calls in their loan and there's not enough to liquidate to pay it off.

I also heard this bill includes more tax breaks for the ones who started this shyt, and very little oversight from Congress (another “trust me” from Paulson and Bernanke).

No oversight, no accountability and no one to hold responsible if it doesn't work.

I just got out of the sauna.

I will be trying to get people to their town clerks tomorrow to vote early by absentee ballot in Maine.

And then I'm calling voters in North Carolina, North Dakota, and Missouri.

My building has its wireless back up and running!! I cannot tell you what a pain it is trying to read websites on a cell phone no matter how fast the network. This is a reward for greed and a support of white supremacist structure. It sucks all around. Here's to hoping people read the bill and call their House reps and complain so they tank it again. This is a temporary stop gap and the valve is going to burst again – then what? All of the main street people should get a 10 year tax break to make up for being shafted.

Yes, more tax breaks for corporations and less regulations– all to appease Reagan Republicans. They voted against the first bill, which was bad in favor of a second bill, which was worse and will put us further in debt.

I know this country runs on credit; and credit was drying up on “main street.” But this will put us in debt by as much as 10 trillion, which will hurt us for a long time. Although he want say it, I think the next president is going to have to cut spending, raise taxes if he is going to do universal healthcare and put in extra funding for education.

Congress is never popular because Congress, unlike the President, must compromise.

We are giving up a lot to the Congressional Republicans, not that we will really appease the most radical ones (who, at least, are intellectually honest compared with their pork-barrel brethren).

But if you believe — as I do — that we are on the brink of a Depression, I think we just have to suck it up.

I'm not saying we should like it. But I'm taking Robert Reich's attitude: “The Era of Angry Populism has only just begun. Let's hope Obama wins, and is able to mobilize the anger into fierce pressure on Congress to get his agenda enacted, as well as reform Wall Street and Washington.”

I was however pleasantly surprised that Maria Cantwell voted “no”.
