the O campaign keeps it's cards close to the vest. I been getting the feeling they are keeping track of all registrations completed by their volunteers. Also, it's clear they have extensive canvassing databases.
Then I read this diary. It's a man whose Hispanic wife didn't receive her mail in ballot. She also registered 1200 people, I take it they were Spanish speaking also. It's a good diary if you care to read it....but the thing I'm pointing to, it the bolded line(my emphasis) How would the O campaign know to do a robo call reminding her to fill out her ballot if they weren't keeping track of every supporter in minute detail??
Among those registrations, was her own registration which was a change to permanent mail-in balloting. We became suspicious when a full three weeks after she filed her own registration she never received a mail-in ballot nor any kind of confirmation from the Secretary of State's office. All we did get was a robocall from Michelle Obama informing us that in a few days we would be receiving the mail-in ballot and to be sure that she fills it out and sends it in right away.
We took that as a sign that the campaign was aware that she had signed up for mail-in balloting and that the forms must have been processed by the campaign and turned in to the Secretary of State. We presume that this robocall would not have informed us with certitude that we would be receiving a mail-in ballot if it were simply a random call to voters.

Michelle Bachmann: 'I never called all liberals anti-American'
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said on MSNBC’s “Hardball” Friday that Barack Obama may have “anti-American views” and that the news media should conduct a “penetrating exposé” to determine whether members of Congress are “pro-America or anti-America.”
So you say
Last Friday, all the liberal special interests from California to Vermont found a new outlet for their energy, their frustrations and their money. That would be in defeating me.

They have a CHAPTER in PITTSBURGH []my home town! :>)]
On Friday, a group of devoted Mudflatters in the Pittsburgh area decided that they’d like to meet up, speak to each other in real audible words, enjoy each others physical company, and put a face, instead of a snowflake avatar, with the name. HamletsMill was the organizational brain behind this event and sent photos and a great story (see below).
So, let’s hear from HamletsMill about Mudstock Pittsburgh!
PICS:
Friday night’s Mini-Mudstock three hour event held at Rolands in the famous Strip District of Pittsburgh was a wonderful celebration of the amazing worldwide Mudflats phenomenon! We are sure many of you were there in spirit worldwide!
Eleven Mudpuppies and their MudGuests came to commiserate in person!
By professions identified, we had three lawyers, two university professors, a medical doctor, a nurse, a software engineer, an automotive structural engineer, and an architectural construction planner!
The dinner conversation was lively and the food was first rate!
We originally had thirteen signed up, but two had to cancel due to catching colds during the toxic spill evacuation in a town 40 miles north of Pittsburgh which made the national news earlier this week. (Hmmm. Was this a direct Rovian National Security conspiracy to affect our MudStock turnout?)
THIS IS GREAT! Alaska is going MAINSTREAM!!! Whoooo! Hooo! :>)

Inauguration Inflation Underway at Washington Hotels By Shailagh Murray
Thinking about heading to Washington for Inauguration Day? Get out your wallet ... or bring a tent. Rates are stratospheric for the week of Jan. 20 for the few hotels that aren't yet booked.
At the Mayflower Hotel, the cheapest "inauguration special deluxe room" goes for $700 per night, prepaid, according to the hotel website. A week later, the same room costs $379 per night. The Ritz-Carlton near Georgetown starts at $899 per night and tops out at $7,000 for a "presidential" suite. Among the few D.C. hotels with rates under $500 per night: the Fairfield Inn on New York Ave. NE ($399 per night).
A bargain by comparison: The Ritz-Carlton in Pentagon City -- a short Metro ride to the Capitol -- where rooms run $499 per night, prepaid, with a two-night minimum.
Beyond D.C.'s borders, the rates aren't much cheaper. Rooms at the Hotel Monaco in Alexandria, Va., go for $549 per night, with a three-night minimum, according to the hotel website. The Hilton Alexandria Old Town starts at $469 per night. The Marriott Courtyard at Tyson's Corner, a 30-minute drive from the Capitol, runs $299 per night.
For those who want to walk, the Best Western Capitol Skyline still has space. The aging concrete structure near the Anacostia River is asking $631 per night, with a four-night minimum.
Christopher Hitchens defended his endorsement of Obama on The O'Reilly Factor on Friday. Subbing in for O'Reilly was Laura Ingraham, and the exchange (who would have thought!) got a bit heated at times. Ingraham was rather incredulous as to how Hitchens could support Obama. Hitchens responded that everything Obama has said since his first debate with Hillary Clinton "has been getting better." Hitchens also, reluctantly, uttered rather harsh criticism of McCain:
"McCain is, in my judgment, I hate to have to say it of such a person, is losing height, losing capacity, he's just not quite the man he was. One proof of that, you might add, is his choice of running mate and potential vice president." VIDEO

Lets all send up prayers for Senator Obama's grandmother & family!
Joe the Plumber used to be on welfare with his family. He said it on hannity and Colmes (yes, I tuned it to hear Hannity rant about Powell). I find that IRONIC?
You act like Joe isn't a "great American" (with his lyin' azz), as Hannity said. You also act like he's not the deserving poor. "Welfare" is okay as long as it functions like Jim Crow appropriations -- i.e. WHITE FIRST or WHITE ONLY.
I was just about to say the same thing!!!! Cosign that.
Texas_Girl_in_LA
Prayers go out to Barack Obama and his grandmother. She is seriously ill and Barack will be leaving the campaign trail Thursday and Friday, traveling to Hawaii to be by her side.

I pray O's grandmama lives to see him elected president.
Yes, me too. My mother and I were just talking about it. It would be such a devastaing blow! Obama, his grandmother and the entire family are in our prayers.
"Obama is about as far from being a socialist as Joe The Plumber is from being a rocket scientist," said Darrell West, director of governance studies at the Brookings Institution. "I think it's hard for McCain to call Obama a socialist when George Bush is nationalizing banks."
Second is judgment. The most important decision John McCain made in his long campaign was deciding on a running mate.
That decision showed appalling lack of judgment. Not only is Sarah Palin not close to being acceptable in high office—I would not have hired her for even a mid-level post in the arms-control agency. But that selection contradicted McCain’s main two, and best two, themes for his campaign—Country First, and experience counts. Neither can he credibly claim, post-Palin pick.
You know what? I haven't heard anyone mention Pat Buchanan's ig'nant, racist azz. (Re: His Powell is "ungrateful" line on Sunday, reacting to the endorsement.)

CNN: McCain giving up on Colorado
Wow, this is pretty shocking. John King of CNN is reporting that McCain campaign is believing New Mexico and Iowa are not winnable. Moreover, they think Colorado is gone. Now, they are gonna go strong in Florida, Nevada and especially Pennsylvania.
The two polls out of Pennsylvania had Obama up 8% and 12%.
As we had discussed earlier about Clintonistas working for McCain to steal Pennsylvania from Obama. The McCain people are going broke for PA. I believe that there should be a separate post on those emails. Because PA doesn't have early voting there may be potential problems.
Jocelyne Voltaire, a resident of Queens Village, New York, saw her home go up for auction after a mortgage company foreclosed. She had made a fifty percent down payment twenty years ago, but recently saw her mortgage payments skyrocket under a predatory loan scam. Her mortgage is controlled by the company Litton Mortgage, an affiliate of the Wall Street giant Goldman Sachs. Voltaire had fallen behind on her payments in part because she no longer had the support of her son, a former Marine who served in the Iraq war. She was told her of son’s death just weeks after being informed of the foreclosure. [includes rush transcript]

They reported that story on CNN on the weekend. I don't want to see another mother crying over her lost son...if you take my meaning.
OK, I guess I'm having a dense moment, but I don't get it. It was TOTALLY a non-story. It seems like the writer stopped short of actual innuendo and forces the reader to make assumptions &/or project whatever is within them onto this non-story. I would also challenge some things, like stopping by the friend's home 15 times in a day. That just seems rediculous...unbelievable. How would anyone know that as well? It was a waste of my time reading this drivel. It's a bunch of stupid signifying nothing.
I pray that Barack's grandmother is okay. Will be okay. Will be around to see her grandson elected president.
But if she's become even more ill because of the hate hurled at her grandson....
There is never a good time for serious illness. But if Barack's family situation will keep the hounds away from these kinds of inflammatory no-stories, or at least keep them from gaining traction, then I guess there's a season for everything...
CULLOWHEE, N.C. -- The carcass of a black bear that had been shot in the head was found wrapped in Barack Obama campaign signs on a North Carolina campus Monday.
Western Carolina University Campus Police Chief Tom Johnson said that officers were called about a dead bear on campus at about 7:45 a.m.
When the officers found the bear carcass, they said it was covered with two campaign signs that had been taped together. WCU police called the state wildlife department to remove the bear from the campus.
Johnson said he has "no idea" what the motive for the killing or putting the signs on the body would be.

Former Mr. Gay U.K. Eats Boyfriend October 20, 2008 11:44 AM
BY PHILIP VICTOR, ABC News London
In a world of bizarre stories, here’s one chilling case of a gruesome murder and an act of cannibalism.
A U.K. chef found guilty of brutally stabbing and murdering his former lover and frying up pieces of the man’s flesh will spend at least 30 years behind bars. Anthony Morley, 36, a former Mr. Gay U.K., claims that Damien Oldfield, 33, tried to rape him at his home and that the killing was done in self-defense.
According to the U.K. Sun, police found six lightly fried pieces of Oldfield’s leg mixed with herbs on a chopping board in Morley’s kitchen. A seventh piece, which Morley chewed, was discovered in a trash bag.
OMG. There's a book that came out a few years ago, "How to Cook A Tart". It was kinda standard chick literature (how I hate the term) but spun off into a murder and the main character inadvertently mixes human flesh into her stew. You'd have to read it to get the bawdiness. Of course that story about a real-life chef doing that is pretty sick.
You are deeply ignorant. It's breathtaking. This remark was meant for Indie-ed 's troll activity below. You know, 'Joe the Plumber as an American everyman'. The mind boggles and the stomach turns. "They wear their ignorance with pride".
If you caught my guest appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, you may have seen an ad or two (or twenty) from Senator Obama's campaign.
This barrage of advertising is adding up to the most expensive negative ad buy in political history. And these ads are funded with the nearly $200 million the Obama campaign and the DNC raised in September.
With this new money, they'll only step up their media buying efforts to flood every network with ads attacking our shared values. These ads are full of inaccurate information designed to mislead voters in key media markets.
We need your support to stop the Obama-Biden Democrats' media buying binge. Your immediate contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or more will help fund our team's ads in key media markets across the country.
The current media buying gap is a direct result of Senator Obama's broken pledge to accept public financing. This summer, Senator Obama chose to break his promise to the American people by opting out of the public financing system. But, you can be sure that our entire team will honor all of the promises we make in this campaign because we are men and women of our word.
Our team of reformers has a plan to take America in a new direction. Our economic policies focus on providing economic relief to those who need it most. While the Obama-Biden Democrats say they want to "spread the wealth around," our team won't support economic policies that punish Americans for working hard and pursuing the American Dream.
I'm asking you today to help our team get this message out. The funds you give today will help pay for upcoming ad buys and get-out-the-vote efforts.
If Senator Obama is elected and Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid are in charge of Congress, there will be nothing stopping them from raising your taxes, immediately pulling out of Iraq and placing your healthcare decisions in the hands of government bureaucrats.
We can't let this happen and that's why your financial support is so critical to our efforts. Every dollar we raise goes directly to help fund media buys and get-out-the-vote efforts in important races across the country. So, please make the most generous contribution you can give - whether its $25 or $250. We're certainly grateful for any help you can give. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Governor Sarah Palin
P.S. Are you tired of watching the barrage of liberal television ads the Obama-Biden Democrats are running? If so, then I ask that you help us close the media buying gap by making a generous contribution of any amount to McCain-Palin Victory 2008. And if you can give $75 or more today, we'll send you an exclusive McCain-Palin Victory 2008 lapel pin to show your support during the final days of the campaign. We appreciate your support.
Right. And the other thing is how she basically is putting a minimum on the donations. Asking for $75.. LOL. Dosen't she know the power of nickle and dime donations?
Town
Maybe if she hadn't gone on SNL, her supporters wouldn't have watched to be able to see all those "negative" ads.
Powell has always been socially liberal. A 'moderate.' The choice of Palin pushed Powell away from the ticket and the party but it wasn't that big of a push to begin with. He's more like Lieberman than McCain, and if he wants to give Obama the nod, so be it.

Ken Adelman intends to vote for Barack Obama. Ken Adelman is a lifelong conservative Republican. Campaigned for Goldwater, was hired by Rumsfeld at the Office of Economic Opportunity under Nixon, was assistant to Defense Secretary Rumsfeld under Ford, served as Reagan’s director of arms control, and joined the Defense Policy Board for Rumsfeld’s second go-round at the Pentagon, in 2001. Adelman’s friendship with Rumsfeld, Cheney, and their wives goes back to the sixties, and he introduced Cheney to Paul Wolfowitz at a Washington brunch the day Reagan was sworn in.
In recent years, Adelman and his friends Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz fell out over his criticisms of the botching of the Iraq War. Still, he remains a bona-fide hawk (“not really a neo-con but a con-con”) who has never supported a Democrat for President in his life.
Explain this one away if you can.
Sepia
This is why the Republicans are losing.

Considering that Powell is for the most part held in such high regard across the political spectrum, if the GOP keeps attacking him it has a real chance of backfiring on them.
To which I say they should keep digging that hole for themselves.

In the wake of Colin Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama, conservative critics offered some pushback on the General's decision, with several, most notably Rush Limbaugh, suggesting that the decision was based purely on race. But this morning, CBS' Bob Schieffer made it clear that behind the scenes, Powell's words echoed the criticism of many Republicans, saying, "What Colin Powell said yesterday and why it was so riveting to hear him, he was saying aloud what a lot of Republicans are saying privately."

McCain camp hits up Russian envoy *************************************************************************************
On a day on which McCain campaign manager Rick Davis hinted that Obama was taking foreign money, the Russian Mission to the United Nations has released a standard-issue fundraising letter gone a bit astray: It was addressed to the Russian envoy to the U.N., Vitaly Churkin, at the mission's address, but without his title.
As the Russian newswire RIA-Novosti tells it:
Russia's permanent mission to the UN has received a letter from U.S. Republican presidential candidate John McCain asking for financial support of his election campaign, the mission said in a statement on Monday.
There's a segment on CNN right now on the black McCains. One member, Lily McCain said that it would be great if Senator McCain attended the reunions because it would give him an opportunity to know them. She was responding to a question of whether his participation would help diversity issues. Lily also said that she heard McCain say on 'Meet The Press' that his family owned no slaves. (ouch!)
Kiera asked if there had been any DNA tests (double ouch) The documentary maker, Douglas Blackmon said he wasn't aware of any tests, but the McCain's have said they weren't aware of any blood connections.(HA!) Lily interjects that given the way slave masters interacted with slaves, it wouldn't be uncommon that there were biological connections(triple ouch!). She goes on to say that if there was such a connection, she wouldn't be ashamed of it.(bitch slap supreme!) Lily was a wonderful speaker, and seems a remarkable woman.

"McCain was counting on exactly 0% of the black vote."
-Not surprising, since he (and Republicans) NEVER actively seek the black vote.
"Blacks are voting for Obama because he is black as much as anything else, and you know what, that's OK."
-Way to insult people; people who could possibly be convinced to vote Republican!
It is my hope that Barack Hussein Obama will become the 44th President of the United States of America,,,and that's OK.
Douglas Blackmon is the author of this amazing book - Slavery By Another Name: The Re-Enslavement of Black Americans from The Civil War to World War II. The book is about the neo-slavery across America that emerged after the legal end of slavery (and provided cheap forced labor to mines, farms, railroad builders, etc.
And here is the link to an incredible (and very chilling) audio slide show he did for Newsweek on the subject: http://www.newsweek.com/id/145263

You know what, this is why I believe strongly that no African American should EVER serve in the US military. I'm not buying that "honour" bullshit. Parents should fight tooth and nail to prevent Recruiter access to their children while in school. And, I don't give a damn who disagrees.
Well I agree with you for the simple fact that history has shown that we are viewed as expendable; as if somehow the life of an AA is worth less than someone else's life...
The men in "Slavery By Another Name" were not in the military. They were arrested on trumped up or made up charges and jailed for decades in many cases - forced into these labor camps (re-enslaved). Remember the movie "Life?"
TruthSeeker
I know....I see a correlation between intense military recruitment of the poor & minorities to fight unjust economic wars, the imprisonment of black men and "neo-slavery".
Well, I certainly see the correlation re: the injustice.
But the "neo-slavery" involved no lies, "sweet talk" or incentives. These men were purposely and aggressively railroaded. They had no part in choosing their fate.
Intense military recruitment notwithstanding, joining the military is still a choice. The re-enslavement Blackmon describes in his book was not.
TruthSeeker
Predators learn and adapt. I see economic disadvantage as a kind of aggressive railroading. I see no child left behind as furthering those ends...as I understand it, military recruitment was part of that bill...how peculiar, unless it was by design. If you're economically depressed, unloved and disrespected by society, do you really have a choice but to enter the military? The military meme is "honour"...who wouldn't want that??
Some still fall for it - and others go in cynically hoping to make "college money."
I can see where you are coming from but I still think the literal re-enslavement from the Civil War through WWII trumps military recruitment today. A closer comparison would be literal slavery in places like Sudan and other African countries.
Again, I see where you are coming from, but to me, today's military recruitment can not touch the brutalization suffered by those re-enslaved men of "Slavery By Another Name."
TruthSeeker
Thanks....chilling is right.

BTW, what do you think about McCain holding fundraisers in Europe in March......
McCain fundraising on Europe, Middle East trip.»
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) recently announced he would travel on a “10-day congressional delegation trip to Europe and the Middle East” next week, along with supporters Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Joe Lieberman (I-CT). “I’m going as a member of the Armed Services Committee, not as the nominee of our party,” he insisted. Nevertheless, McCain will still hold fundraisers:
McCain’s campaign has sent out an invitation for a March 20 luncheon at Spencer House — the neo-classical home built for an ancestor of Diana, the late Princess of Wales — “by kind permission of Lord Rothschild OM GBE and the Hon. Nathaniel Rothschild.”
The price to attend is $1000 to $2,300. And the dress code for the event? “Lounge suits” — British for business attire.
Jill Hazelbaker, McCain’s campaign spokeswoman, said today that Congress will be reimbursed for the political portions of the trip.
The McCain campaign and the RNC are sending out a mailer that pushes Gov. Sarah Palin as both the figurehead of the GOP ticket and a centrist.
A reader in Pennsylvania sends over a four-page pamphlet titled "McCain-Palin Solutions for Our Family," which labels as priorities for the Republican team non-traditional conservative positions such as climate change and stem cell research. The inset includes a copy of a USA Today article with the headline: "In targeting big oil, Palin 'governed from the center': She didn't press conservative views on lawmakers."
The next page includes a campaign statement on how "John McCain and Sarah Palin will work with Democrats and Republicans for sensible solutions." And underneath is a graph about how Palin "as the mother of a special needs child... knows first hand the value of advanced medical treatments research."
The final page is a photo of McCain and Palin which noticeably features the vice presidential candidate in a more prominent placement than the presidential candidate himself.

You're not kidding Texas Girl! The McCain/Palin klan rallies are to blame for this!
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if fights break out in the lines on election day.
I already posted that link twice (once in this thread) and I am posting it again and am going to talk about something now.
A few years ago when there were the big immigrant rights marches we had one where I live. Huge march -- families, kids, elders, workers, young and old and in-between.
There was a gathering place with music etc at the end of the march. There is a person in town who is a provocateur -- a sociopath who performs inflammatory anti-Mexico and anti-immigrant "street theater" and he was linked up with the other white nationalist crazies.
They planted themselves in the park where the march ended. Waited for as many people to get there as possible to have maximum impact. Were allowed by the cops to be there. Burned a Mexican flag, used a bullhorn to taunt the crowd trying to provoke pain and a response.
March organizers and others did everything possible to ask the crowd to not respond to the provocation. But it was hard because there was this loud bullhorn such nasty stuff said and also -- there was drama and people are interested in drama and came over to see what was going on rather than stay near the stage where there was music, speakers etc.
Finally after hours of this provoking, someone responded -- threw a water bottle at them. Which symbolically, I find to be entirely appropriate given the burning of the flag. But the cops responded to it as "assault."
The end result: Cops pulled out huge scary-looking weapons and pursued people across the park. 5-6 people were arrested (and some beaten) by the police. All were Latino/a. Including young people.
This is part -- not all, but an important part -- of why I am pushing Al's Stay Cool article so hard.
Are Obama supporters on this blog and elsewhere adequately prepared for the role we may need to play on Nov 4 and before in being cool and calm and encouraging others to be the same?
Do others here think this is crucial in the weeks or is it mostly my issue?
To what extent might we stoke the drama -- and how can we not do that?
Is this worth more discussion from a strategic angle? (as in what are tips from a movement perspective for dealing with these dynamics)
Justice58
Michelle,
Once during the primaries, I stopped at a store to buy gas and when I went inside to pay there were about 3 guys & 2 women standing around talking. One of the women said loudly that she wasn't voting for Hillary but she would NEVER vote for Obama & he was a Muslim....blah blah blah..! I ignored them but they were trying to provoke me. Now, after McCain/Palin has whipped up hatred at their rallies, it is even scarier times. A person could get hurt/beat up just by wearing an Obama shirt. It is scary!
Michelle
What I wonder is, how can Obama supporters offer practical help to each other in these dangerous times -- maximize the practical, minimize the drama, you know?
And, are there people who disagree with us politically, but still think things like what Texas Girl mentions below are over the line ... and can we ask for their practical assistance too in some contexts?
Texas_Girl_in_LA
Justice58,
It is getting scarier out there. These people received death threats in their mailboxes for having an Obama sign in their yard.
"Get the Obama signs off your property—now," the letter reads. "Failure to obey this order will result in the immediate death of all family members."
Michelle
Texas_Girl_in_LA, my thing right now is trying to focus on the practical and minimize the drama as much as possible, if that makes sense. Like I just wrote in a dkos diary mentioning that death threat thing:
A recent rec'd diary described a family (or families) that had received death threats because of an Obama sign on their lawn.
My question would be, is there any way that we could assist in whatever needs thinking about or doing to help these families marshall support for their day to day well-being?
For example -- this is just speculation on my part since I don't know the real neighborhood context it may not be practical and of course the real thing would be to be in communication with those families to try to get at what, if anything can be done, but ... but thinking out loud here, what if volunteers from outside the area, or people from that area, or both, were to go door to door in that neighborhood talking to people about the death threat and asking them to help keep an eye out for the family/families that were threatened? Could there be a point of agreement among the majority of the neighbors that even thought there are differing politics, it is never appropriate to threaten people's lives like that?
I think from the comments I understand that the area this happened in is very Republican. But my suspicion is that most Republicans, no matter how strongly they might feel politically, would not feel it appropriate for someone to threaten their neighbors with death for having and displaying a political opinion. So, even though there are political differences, would it be possible for the people in that area to help look out for the safety of their neighbors -- and if so what would need to happen to make that occur and what kind of help might be useful in making that happen?)...
[Overall] ....given how much energy there is on this site to talk about these incidents, do you think there would be any use to trying to make some sort of system or clearinghouse site or something that could focus on practical needs in a no-drama tone, something that could then pull assistance and resources from concerned people here
When asked on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program Monday for his reaction to Colin Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama, John McCain campaign manager Rick Davis called into question the political acumen of the former Joint Chiefs chairman and Secretary of State.
"Look, I doubt if Colin Powell is equipped to do a whole lot of political prognostication," Davis said, dismissively, adding: "That's what you guys do, right?"
It was perhaps a snarky throwaway line, but it could be seen as a slight to the man McCain himself has described as one of the "most credible, most respected" men in the world.
Davis was certain to add the de rigeur testimony to Powell's service, saying: "He is a great American and served this country with great distinction. What his views are on the political scene are completely up to him."
McCain's campaign manager also addressed the issue of bringing up Bill Ayers, which Powell has criticized as "demagoguery."
THERE IS MORE.
JEALOUSY is such an UGLY thing!! :>) :>) :>)

You missed what happened later on "Morning Joe". Scarborough and Pat Buchanan began to belittling the Powell endorsement. Then to the rescue came Mika's dad Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski an Obama supporter and former United States National Security Advisor. Brzezinski then tells the viewers why Obama is the right man for the job.
Speaking of "sounding like Tina Fey", I listened to The. Gov.'s BROTHER in a video. NO ACCENT!! NO HOW! NO NASAL TWANG!! Hmmm!
I'm believin' that this was another PAGEANT-participant TRICK!! :>) My friend's parent who live in Alaska are saying that THEY don't know where her accent comes from. Hmmm!
That accent is from Minnesota/The Dakotas. That was an act because she didn't have a hint of that accent during the debates for Alaskan Gov. Let me dig up that video. Hold on a sec...
wow. dead on: rural blackface. I'd never call her idiot. She's still wholly unqualified though. I think she tricks herself a bit to think she's so smart as to be adept enough or intelligent enough to feign affections and personalities.
Each morning on Don Imus' show, somebody puts on blackvoice, in his own mind thinking, "yeah, this sounds black."
Some folks, e.g. Mr. Bill, know exactly how to get over a bit more smoothly, and more subtly with it.

OBAMA ON THE OFFENSIVE: Assembles Thousands of Lawyers to Monitor Election
Obama assembles the largest "law firm" in the country:
In Florida, Democratic lawyer Charles H. Lichtman has assembled almost 5,000 lawyers to monitor precincts, assist voters turned away at the polls and litigate any disputes that can't be resolved out of court.
"On Election Day, I will be managing the largest law firm in the country, albeit for one day," said Lichtman, 53, a Fort Lauderdale corporate lawyer and veteran of the five-week recount after the 2000 election when Florida eventually delivered the presidency to George W. Bush...
You know, I almost wonder how this is going to affect the average Republican coming to vote.
If I'm standing in line, and people in front of me are complaining/fighting with the poll workers, AND I'm already disenthused about my candidate...do I continue to wait, or do I go home?
And if that person goes home, and McCain loses, does the GOP then suggest that because of the army of legal overseers, voter suppression took place?
And if so...are they right?
GreenLadyHere
D: **Shaking my head** **saying tsk, tsk, tsk**
1. Who is the AVERAGE Republican? Is there an UN-AVERAGE REpublican?
2. Is the "I" really just YOU?
3. Annnnnd, keeping with the "I" theme, are YOU "projecting" onto other people what they would think about YOU, IFF YOU don't vote?
D, it's NOT their bui'ness! As a "WISE" person said to me - - "YOU DO YOU!"
Ain't nobody watchin' YOU> :>)
Whew! Calm Deep Breaths! :>)
P.S. . . . are they right?. . . NO! They are DEPRESSED VOTERS!! :>) Whoever THEY are??
I'm thinking of the disabled veteran, the elderly person got assistance to come to the polls. Or even the first time voter who is enthusiastic about McCain, but comes to vote on their lunch hour and can't vote because of someone holding up the line with a complaint, justified or not.
Now, none of that will deter the most dedicated (partisan?) of people from the polls. And I agree that, in this election, some measure of oversight is necessary (for all I know, the VA GOP might have some shenanigans cooked up for when I show up to vote).
I'm just wondering how this will be viewed from my side of the street, regardless of how I'm voting.
Or, phrased differently, with the partisanship removed-at what point does it become overkill, and at what point does that overkill adversely affect the electoral process?
RonnieB
D~
The concerns you just laid out are real. And they've been happening for decades to primarily Black and poor voters. Nobody on the Republican side really cared--primarily, because the disenchanted or frustrated voters who decided it was too much trouble, benefitted the Republican party.
And now that a Democrat with a backbone and a grown-man's voice decides to square up against this voting trickery, there's NOW a concern that people will be frustrated and unenthused?
No sympathy here, bruh. The chickens have come home.
You know, just as well as I do, that it will become a national crisis. Hell, maybe McCain will sponsor the campaign reform laws that will never allow the Obama ascendancy to happen again.
BUT, I'm believin/ that most people, especially those who have kept up with all of this discussion in the news, will be ADVISED that there will be HEAVY VOTER TURN-OUT!! So they should be PREPARED for a LOOOOOONG DAY!
And I'm SURE that YOU will be assisting in this effort by also ADVISING those VETS who YOU work with.
Therefore, the NUMBERS that YOU might be PROJECTING will more than likely NOT BE SIGNIFICANT. :>) NOT TO WORRY! :>)
My thought is that all this oversight wouldn't be needed if the last two elections hadn't had so much "tampering" with the democratic process.
To answer your question though, I think that as a general rule you shouldn't have to wait an extremely long time to vote. In addition, people with disabilities and the elderly should be allowed to go to the front of the line. The people with issues should have a separate line they go to in order to get the issue resolved.
If I am there to vote and wind up leaving because it took an unreasonably long time, then I think that should qualify as voter suppression.
It should also be voter suppression if they send more machines to the burbs (who have less people) and fewer machines to the inner city. But that's just me...
I just have this feeling that if the vote ends up being close, the GOP's gonna cry foul and attribute it back to (1) ACORN, which may not fly, or (2) the amount of people brought in to monitor the process, which might some weight.
Yeah, I think #2 might give them some distance. This election is too important, and i don't see either side going down without a fight. We might not know who really wins for a week or two. You never know...
If it's close in McCain's favor, Obama will fight (or, more accurately, the people will fight for him).
If it's close in Obama's, though, I don't see McCain fighting...although the GOP will crucify him for not doing so. He'll make a "good of the country" speech, serve out his term in the Senate, and pack it up for good.
RobM
After all the garbage that has come out of his mouth you now expect him to act like a man for the good of the country. McCain could have stood up long time ago to stop the nonsense coming out of his campaign and he has only done so when he is directly confronted by it on stage. He could have told Gov Palin to stop; he hasn't. He could have suspended his campaign for the good of the country ; he didn't. He is dug in like those Japanese soldiers found in the Phillipines in the 50's, 60's and 70's; armed and fanatical to death. Listen to Colin Powell McCain has become erratic and narrow.
He stopped campaigning. His surrogates did it for him.
That was the suspension.
The "good of the country" part is still up in the air.
That's the reason for the "way the story is told" preface.

The traction that McCain is getting with Senator Obama's "spread the wealth" response to Joe the fake ass plumber eerily reminds me of the traction Senator Clinton got with his infamous "bitter" comments during the PA primary. Just like then, the Campaign fails to appreciate and estimate the exploitive value of these comments. The slow response to clarify/defend the remarks pisses me off!!! Why not have Senator Obama go on tv immediately after to simply say spreading the wealth is short hand for spreading opportunity: allowing middle class tax payers to keep more money in their pockets so that they can invest in a small business, tuition and the like? Why have they allowed McCain to have an entire week of branding Senator Obama a socialist and spreading the non-sense that the non-working aka lazy ass black and brown folks who don't work will get free money from the government? He has $150MM to dispute it! Senator Obama should not open his mouth without saying McCain supports corporate welfare while giving no relief to the middle class.
Joe the fake as plumber is the walking personification of the Reagan SUCCESSFUL strategy of getting poor ass white folks to vote against their own economic interests. Despite having no money and no health care, Joe the fake ass plumber would rather complain about taxes on income he doesn't have AND will NEVER have rather than taking a tax cut. The ass hole can't even pay the taxes his owes making approximately $40K. The piece of shit even admitted his family took welfare for a time all the while complaining about government handouts. That's the wicked but brilliant genius of the Reagan GOP, and McCain is tapping into that now. The question begs why isn't Senator Obama doing more to turn off the spicket?!
Damn, cut a commercial with Warren Buffet, the richest man in the world, with his secretary who pays more of a percentage of her income in taxes than Buffet! The longer this socialist charge goes unanswered in a coordinated and foreceful way the more it will set in.
Senator Obama need not warn us about complacency; rather, he needs to take his own advice. Yes, I LOVE Senator Obama but sometimes I hate his campaign!
djchefron
Why shouldn't we pay more taxes? I guess republicans believe the magic fairy waves her wand and police, firefighters, education, infrastructure etc. automatically gets funded. How do we fund our national defense if we dont pay our taxes?I should be surprised, Bush after 9/11 instead of asking for shared sacrificed instead told us to go shopping further running up debt.Call me when the sane republicans want to talk.
s
Obama is not talking about raising taxes to pay for vital services, national defense, infrastructure, etc.
He specifically addressed the issue of raising taxes as a way to redistribute wealth. Take money from one citizen and give it to another, who is deemed by the government to be in need.
Big difference and you are smart enough to know it. So now, give me a defense of the 'fairness' of Obama's tax plan and explain to me how it will be a boon to our economy.
s
There is nothing 'fake' about Joe or his aspirations. Just as there is nothing 'bitter' about folks looking to religion for strength or anything 'clinging' about enjoying hunting or wanting to protect your loved ones and your home by owning a gun.
The more the Obama/Biden campaign seeks to discredit and insult the very voters they need to win, McCain/Palin are seen as the 'safe choice' .
If Obama taxes my boss, will he be able to keep me as an employee? If I expand my business, will I be taxed more heavily? As I watch my investments and savings shrink, I have to work harder to make up the difference, can I afford to be taxed even more?
The problem is the Obama believes that taxing success is actually' fairness' and that it will promote economic growth.
The problem is not in Kansas but the Obama political philosophy that 'poor white ass folks' want a government handout, oops, I mean 'tax credit' instead of a job that provides opportunity for advancement and greater monetary success.
Michelle
s, interesting to see you back here.
You never answered my specific questions to you from the discussion the other day when you identified youself with "Joe the Plumber." I posted them twice and you responded to me and others about other things (in one case with a lie about "confliting reports" of something that I verified as a lie) -- but not tese questions.
I think you -- like the fake plumber -- are making things up and making arguments ungrounded in the lived reality of your life. I want details.
I am going to repeat the same questions I asked twice the other day and request that you answer them:
S, sorry if I missed this (you may have said elsewhere), but I am very curious.
What is your profession, what training do you have in your profession, what region of the country do you live in and how much do you make annually right now?
I would like to see you answer these questions now, please.
And above you "wrote" : If Obama taxes my boss, will he be able to keep me as an employee? If I expand my business, will I be taxed more heavily?
See now s, this reads as ungrounded ideological rhetoric with no basis in your reality. Is it grounded in your life? Are you employed by someone else? Do you own your own business that you are planning to expand? Which -- both?
See my questions above and answer them.
I would also request that you be a grown-up and take responsibility for what you did wrong the other day: apologize for your errors and lying on actual facts from the last time we spoke.
Disagreements are one thing. But reading or interacting with commenters who lie and evade and aren't what they implicitly claim to be goes over the line for me. And the latter seems to be what S is doing here.
I don't understand the use in interacting with rhetoric that is unattached to anyone's actual lived reality.
Jay
Obama isn't going to RAISE taxes, he's giving a tax break to ppl who make less than 250K.
Isn't it true in ALL instances that when you make more money, your taxes go up anyway, so all of a sudden its called Socialism and 'welfare', 'handout' when Obama wants to lower taxes for the majority of the working force?
s
Say it ain't so Joe.
"It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."
His historical context is correct. If I had to guess, it will probably be Russia, China, or Iran that decides to act a fool in late '09 or '10 (or something will jump off in Iraq, but I think that's less likely).
However, if you're undecided about Obama, this statement doesn't exactly inspire confidence. The GOP would do well to remind people of the Charles Black episode over the summer.
And Obama's better off saying nothing at all. Attempting to "clarify" may only dig the hole more deeper-and could backfire.
I heard that statement earlier and I'm to get what Joe meant by that.
indie-ed
What do you mean, 'I'm to get what Joe meant by that?"
Are you waiting for the damage control spin from the campaign?
Obama's an untested and inexperienced in foreign policy and the world knows it. Our enemies will take advantage of this inexperience at the first opportunity.
While I find your cherry-picking of selective statements slightly amusing, I would entertain you further if you appeared to be interested in a serious discourse on the topic.
If you were truly interested in bringing me around to your way of thinking, is this really the best way to go about it? However, since you seem to only highlight statements as truth when they support your position, I am left to believe that intelligent and logical discourse is not what you seek.
And to be honest with you, I'm not interested in a game of Nanny-Nanny-Boo-Boo.
Okay, so I signed up at the McCain Palin site so that I could get their updates, just so see what they sent out. Here's an email I got from them today. They must have paid Joe the Plumber, because they have an entire ad campaign set up around this fake persona.
Oh yeah, they're looking for new "Joes." Any takers? LOL
Here's the email. I wish you could see the pictures.... ____________________________
How are you "Joe the Plumber"? Tell us in 30 seconds...
We want you to tell us how you are "Joe the Plumber" and why you're supporting John McCain and Sarah Palin in thirty seconds. You could even see your video as an official McCain TV ad.
By now, "Joe the Plumber" is a household name and has become a symbol of Barack Obama's plan to "spread the wealth around." During a recent campaign event in Toledo, Ohio, "Joe the Plumber" asked a simple question and got a surprising answer from the Democratic nominee. When he asked why Barack Obama's tax plan was going to punish him for working hard and living the American Dream, Barack Obama responded, "When you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."
JoeIn that brief exchange, the American people got to see what this campaign is all about ... a choice between honoring the hard work of everyday Americans like "Joe the Plumber" and increasing taxes to "spread the wealth." In these tough economic times, there is no doubt that John McCain and Sarah Palin stand firmly on the side of hardworking "everyday Joes" who understand the value of honest work and the American Dream.
That's why we want to hear from you and share your story with the American public. It's simple ... make an ad telling us why you are "Joe the Plumber" in 30 seconds and we'll put the best ad on the air as a TV ad.
Share your story of living the American Dream, working hard, or owning a small business to tell America why you're standing with John McCain and Sarah Palin. Click here today to learn more and submit your video before Friday, October 24th.
Then help us spread the word about this exciting opportunity - tell your friends to visit JohnMcCain.com/Joe to submit their own video and share their story.
Since Barack Obama already did this with live people at his convention (and has used one recently in an ad) this is another copycat move that reeks of unseriousness about leading this nation.
s
Don't take this stategy for granted.
From the outset of this election, the 'blie collar, white male' has been the key demographic essential to an Obama victory. Why do you think Obama was so anxious to engage Joe in fromt of the cameras? An now 'Joe' has been vilified fro daring to dream of making more money, to dream of being the boss, growin a business and creating jobs.
The Obama/Biden campaign has told every 'Joe' out there...you're not real. I don't know anyone like you. Get your head out of the clouds, get in line and put out your hand because you will benefit from out taxing your boss. But Joe knows that if his boss takes a financial hit, his job is on the line, and no 'tax credit' or welfare check will help him keep his job.
Redistribution of wealth vs. the Creation of wealth
Welfare vs. Opportunity
Freedom vs. Arbitrary government imposed 'fairness'
The "I am Joe' campaign has real resonance with the American people. As much as you would like to destroy the credibility of "Joe the Plumber' he embodies the 'American Dream,' as do the many examples I cited here from my personal experience.
McCain has closed to within 5 points.
Obama offers economic insecurity and now, Joe Biden suggests, international insecurity as well.
You must have listened to Palin's stump speech this morning. Sounds like GOP talking points to me...
I'm just about sick of the buzz words being thrown around (welfare, socialism, etc.). this is nothing more than an attempt to vilify. You can drink that Kool-Aid, but I'm not going to.
As for Joe B., don't know why he made that statement earlier. Seems like it needs clarification to me.
Joe always tells the truth. Whether or not it's good politics.
Only a fool would think an Obama administration would be free of sabotage from within and without.
All Joe was saying is that WHEN they test him, they will find a man with a spine of steal. And we will have to stand WITH Barack.
I really don't see the issue.
But I see the spin. And why it's necessary.
Biden has been on fire on the stump for months and he's been largely ignored. He makes this statement and it's news. It will be parsed from now till November 4.
It's not going to matter.
s
Hey, I take what Obama and Biden say at face value. I hear what they say and I call it like I see it.
Palin may have her finger on the pulse of an "army of Joes" and could it be that she is merely articulating what so many voters actually feel?
Many find the notion of 'spreading the wealth' to be in direct opposition to their interpretation of the "American Dream.'
With all of Obama's style, eloquence, nuance, money and MSM calling the election for him, your "Average Joe' remains deeply skeptical.
No Kool-aid. Just common sense.
Can no one on this blog see how Obama's and Biden's own words have damaged their message with the very voters they are trying so hard to win over?
Is there no 'Joe' among you who is willing to admit that taxing the rich, 'spreading the wealth' in the name of fairness and wrapping it up in 'patriotism' flies in the face of the opportunity and economic freedom that has made this the most prosperous, generous nation in the history of the world?
Listen, I'm gonna tell you the same thing I just told your friend Indie-ed. If you are interested in having a real discourse about the issues, then I can handle that. But you seem to be looking for a fight...
Would you like people to give thought to your ideas, or are you just here to shill for Johnny Mac? Or more precisely to bash Obama?
If you're truly interested in expressing your views so that others consider them, then my suggestion is that you approach the conversation with a bit more respect, and a lot less of a condescending tone.
I don't appreciate the divisiveness that exudes from the McCain/Palin camp, and your tone reminds me a lot of that.
Campaign aides to John McCain told the New York Times last week that "Joe the Plumber" would form the bedrock of their strategy for the rest of the race:
Mr. McCain's advisers said that in his speeches, television advertisements and mailings, he would seize on a remark Mr. Obama made in an encounter with an Ohio voter, Joe Wurzelbacher, who had pressed him to explain his support for a tax increase for upper-income filers. Mr. Obama responded by saying he wanted to "spread the wealth." Mr. McCain repeatedly invoked that encounter with the man, whom he called "Joe the Plumber," during the debate on Wednesday.
Has it worked? Not exactly. A Suffolk University poll of Ohio and Missouri finds that name recognition of "Joe the Plumber" is very high in both states -- but only a handful of voters said it made them more likely to vote for the Republican candidate. In Ohio, 68% of respondents had heard the Joe story. Six percent said it made them more likely to vote for McCain; four percent said it made them more likely to vote for Obama. In Missouri a whopping 80% knew of Joe. Eight percent were more likely to vote McCain as a result; 3 percent more likely to vote Obama. In both states, vast majorities said the plumber's story did not affect their decision at all. Meanwhile, Obama is leading McCain in Ohio and is nearly tied with him in Missouri. More from the poll:
With just over two weeks left before the presidential election, voters in the key state of Ohio are giving the Democratic ticket of Barack Obama and Joe Biden a 9-point lead (51 percent-42 percent) over the Republican ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin, according to a poll released today by Suffolk University.
In Missouri, McCain led by 1 percent (45 percent to 44 percent) statewide. He also led the bellwether test of Platte County, Mo.
"If Ohio goes for Obama, it may be lights out for McCain," said David Paleologos, director of the Political Research Center at Suffolk University in Boston. "At least today, the probability of an Ohio win is supported by the high-single-digit lead in the statewide poll coupled with the Perry County bellwether, which showed Obama leading by 4 percent."
In 2008, Suffolk University bellwethers were 95 percent accurate in predicting straight-up winners in both Democratic and Republican primaries, and, when coupled with statewide Suffolk polls, were 100 percent accurate in predicting straight-up winners.

Because you know regular Americans would have been in some deep shit if they engaged in the same questionable behavior as you have.

Well, here's an idea.
Since so many Americans are unfortunately losing their homes, how about John/Cindy McCain give away maybe 6 of their 7-8 homes to some needy families. And guess what, they would still have 2 left over. And while they are at it, donate at least 10 cars from their fleet of cars . They will still have a handful of cars and a private jet.
You need a life and an examination of your brain----because there is truly no comparison of the wealth of the McCain's vs. the Obama's. Go take this foolishness over to Hot Air
MsKitty
Yeah, funny how the candidate whose mama got food stamps, who just paid off his student loans a couple of years ago, and only has one house and one car is painted as the elitist. People must think we're stupid over here.
LOL....but D., most of the trolls "cut and paste" their articles from palces like Hot Air---so naturally they can take their Obama bashing over there. I mean gosh, if indie-ed is going to criticize the Obamas, at least raise an issue with substance. That's the problem with the majority of the trolls here--they don't seem to hold any intelligent reasoning, IMHO.
Folks are having a hard time buying food and filling their gas tanks.
If that be so, I seriously doubt they give a damn about what Michelle or Cindy are eating. They may be more concerned about how to feed themselves.
You know, I have no problem with disagreement, but you're raising some really trivial stuff with this line. If you need better dirt, I can give you any number of mailing lists to subscribe to.

Oh yeah, that's right...Obama is raising his OWN money, not using the taxpayers' money to finance his campaign.
Thanks so much for posting this. It really is a lovely account of Obama as a father. And it provides further confirmation that it is possible to surf the net every day and read actual positive, uplifting news!
So yesterday I went to Philly to canvass for Obama. I drove down with my partner, Grant, but we also accompanied about 80 people from Brooklyn for Obama. At first we were going to canvass in North Philly but since we had a vehicle we had to move out 2 miles to talk with other voters. The area we canvassed had a pretty diverse group of people as Temple University was only 2 miles away.
We did two passes, knocking on about 150 doors each time. Most of the people were pro Obama with a few hostile McCain supporters. I had an interesting moment with a mentally ill individual who verbally accosted me in the street, trying to engage in discussion about why he supported McCain. Here's a soundbite. "The issue begins with Lee Harvey Oswald..." Yeah he was loony and skittish, and guess what? He was a Vietnam vet- nut. So much for McCain supporters.
It was a great day to walk around and knock on doors. Again, if you haven't canvassed- I highly recommend you do! And if you don't have the time stop by a Obama office and ask what donations they may need.Every office I have ever been to needed paper towels, toilet paper, bottles of water, hard candy (throat gets sore,) and munchies of various sorts. DO something!
Have you seen this? Sepia Mutiny is a desi blog and the writer explains here why he will not be canvassing for Obama in this toxic climate created by the GOP:
If you had any doubt that the GOP was promoting the message “Obama = Arab = Muslim = Terrorist!” this should put your doubts to rest. (To their credit, the state level party quickly had the material removed but that doesn’t undercut the broader campaign.)
One minor personal consequence of this tactic is that I am unable to go canvassing door-to-door in battleground states for either campaign. Can you imagine the reception I would encounter knocking on doors for the Obama campaign in West Virginia? Or how about ringing doorbells for McCain in Missouri?
Sure, I might be able to overcome the xenophobia and fear of certain voters, but that would make the exercise more about me than the candidate, with each minute spent explaining who I am taken away from time avalable to make the case for a particular campaign. No, that would be immensely selfish on my part.
Unfortunately, this leaves me with only one option if I want to participate in face-to-face persuasion of voters. I could pretend to be working for the opposition.
I (along with other black and brown) canvassers did encounter some racism in Rhode Island back in March. It wasn't bad enough not to canvass. But we did notice in some neighborhoods, the white canvassers got much further than we did. Now, in the general election, with white canvassers coming back with racist stories more frequently, I wonder if black and brown canvassers are doing better (and are even safer) in more diverse neighborhoods.
Hers
I'm so glad you brought this up. I actually canvassed in Las Vegas (North Vegas) and I had the same experience. Alot of the white canvassers came back with stories of engaging the residents/discussing Obama's policies while many of the black canvassers (including myself) were eithered yelled at or ignored (someone not coming to the door when you know someone is home).
My partner , an Obama supporter of color (but not black) told me that she encountered a white couple who were both scientist and were voting for McCain because they felt that Obama had gotten in to Harvard based on Affirmative Action. Nevermind the fact that McCain has tried to cut spending for scientific research.
while many of the black canvassers (including myself) were eithered yelled at or ignored (someone not coming to the door when you know someone is home).
Yes!
Although, I have to say, I didn't hear about anyone being yelled at - but I did personally go to several homes where I knew someone was home (I could either hear them as I walked to the door or, in a few cases, I could see them looking through the window!)
Overall, I did have a good experience though (the neighborhoods reminded me of the area in New Jersey where I grew up). I chronicled my experiences on my blog at the time:
I had plenty of that too, but then I had to think to myself- I wouldn't answer the door if I didn't feel like having conversation about it (ether way.)
The day was SO beautiful and the people were so motivated that I felt like it was worthwhile, and I feel like I earned the right to call Obama MY President.
I encounter racism of white supremacy every day, it doesn't stop me from waking up. To the McCain supporters, I smiled big and said "Thank you. ENJOY THE ELECTION!" [dueces...]
I gave many of them the benefit of the doubt too. But I do think it was race in many instances. I canvassed in the primary season and I dare say, even as hard as Hillary vs. Barack was, it was not as toxic as this Palin-McCain environment. In fact, I wonder about some of the McCain supporters I came across at the time. I wonder how many are still with him after all that has happened.
Thankfully, the bulk of my experiences were fine and I would canvass again... depending on the area.
Has anyone seen the picture that's floating around on the internet of Sarah Palin's 5 year old daughter sticking up her middle finger at another little boy?
Some of McCain's black relatives support Obama BY ELGIN JONES
In the rural Teoc community of Carroll County, Miss., where the ancestors of Sen. John McCain owned enslaved Africans on a plantation, black, white and mixed-race family members unite every two years for their Coming Home Reunion, on the land where the plantation operated.
Some of McCain’s black family members say they are not sure exactly where they fall on the family tree, but they do know this: They are either descendants of the McCain family slaves, or of children the McCains fathered with their slaves.
White and black members of the McCain family have met on the plantation several times over the last 15 years, but one invited guest has been conspicuously absent: Sen. John Sidney McCain.
“Why he hasn’t come is anybody’s guess,” said Charles McCain Jr., 60, a distant cousin of John McCain who is black. “I think the best I can come up with, is that he doesn’t have time, or he has just distanced himself, or it doesn’t mean that much to him.”
Other relatives are not as generous.
Lillie McCain, 56, another distant cousin of John McCain who is black, said the Republican presidential nominee is trying to hide his past, and refuses to accept the family’s history.
“After hearing him in 2000 claim his family never owned slaves, I sent him an email,” she recalled. “I told him no matter how much he denies it, it will not make it untrue, and he should accept this and embrace it.”
She said the senator never responded to her email.
Although Charles is uncertain who will get his vote for president, several of John McCain’s black and white relatives are supporting his Democratic rival, Sen. Barack Obama.
“I am absolutely supporting Obama, and it’s not because he’s black. It’s because he is the best person at this time in our history,” said Lillie McCain, a professor of psychology at Mott Community College in Flint, Michigan.
“We simply need to look at the economy, and McCain’s campaign does not take us there,” said Joyce McCain, Lillie’s sister, a retired engineering manager with General Motors who lives in Grand Blanc, Michigan. “He is my cousin, but we are in dire times right now and people are hurting. Sen. Obama is clearly the best choice to be president.’’
Charles McCain and his wife, Theresa, who still live in Teoc, started the reunions over a decade ago. Charles is the deacon of Mitchell Springs Baptist Church, the only black house of worship in the area.
When Theresa McCain started the family reunions in the late 1980s or early ‘90s (neither he nor his wife is sure of the exact starting date), only black family members attended. But as word spread about the gatherings, white members of the McCain family got involved. Today, the reunion has expanded to the point where it is becoming a community event.
The reunion’s website, teocfamilyreunion.ning.com, has pictures, postings and other information about the family gatherings. While Sen. McCain’s brother, Joe, and many of his other white relatives attend the reunions, family members say Sen. McCain has never acknowledged them, or even responded to their invitations.
“Well, a lot of the people who had moved away and were living up north, would send money to help us maintain the church,” said Theresa McCain, 62. “Myself and others began inviting them back home for picnics, just to show our appreciation.”
The McCain campaign did not respond to repeated questions about John McCain’s black relatives, or about his relatives of both races who support Obama. Pablo Carrillo, a media liaison with the McCain campaign, said the senator was aware of his African-American relatives, but asked the reporter to put his questions into writing, and that someone would get back to him.
After the reporter sent questions in writing, and made repeated follow-up phone calls, neither Sen. McCain nor anyone else from the campaign responded.
Based on information obtained by the South Florida Times, the senator has numerous black and mixed-raced relatives who were born on, or in, the area of the McCain plantation. The mixed races in the family can be traced back to the rural Teoc community of Carroll County, Miss., where his family owned slaves.
Sen. John McCain’s great, great grandfather, William Alexander McCain (1812-1863), fought for the Confederacy and owned a 2,000-acre plantation named Waverly in Teoc. The family dealt in the slave trade, and, according to official records, held at least 52 slaves on the family’s plantation. The enslaved Africans were likely used as servants, for labor, and for breeding more slaves.
William McCain’s son, and Sen. John McCain’s great grandfather, John Sidney McCain (1851-1934), eventually assumed the duty of running the family’s plantation.
W.A. “Bill” McCain IV, a white McCain cousin, and his wife Edwina, are the current owners of the land. Both told the South Florida Times that they attend the reunions. They also said the McCain campaign had asked them not to speak to the media about the reunions, or about why the senator has never acknowledged the family gatherings.
In addition to distancing himself from his black family members, John McCain has taken several positions on issues that have put him at odds with members of the larger black community.
While running for the Republican Party nomination in 2000, he sided with protesters who were calling for the rebel battle flag to be removed from the South Carolina statehouse, only to alter that position later.
"Some view it as a symbol of slavery. Others view it as a symbol of heritage,” John McCain said of the flag. "Personally, I see the battle flag as a symbol of heritage. I have ancestors who have fought for the Confederacy, none of whom owned slaves. I believe they fought honorably.’’
Novelist Elizabeth Spencer, another white cousin of John McCain, noted the slaves the family owned in the family’s memoirs, Landscapes of the Heart. Sen. McCain has acknowledged reading the book, but claims to have only glossed over entries about their slaves.
“That’s crazy,” said Spencer, who also attends the reunions in Teoc. “No one had to tell us, because we all knew about the slaves. I may not vote, because I don’t want anyone to think that I have an issue with John, but I don’t want to see him become president because I think Obama is entirely adequate, and it’s time for a Democrat.’’
Spencer acknowledged donating money to the Obama campaign and to what she called “Democratic causes.”
Sen. John McCain was born in 1936 at the Coco Solo Naval Air Station, a segregated military installation in the Panama Canal, where his father was stationed in the U.S. Navy. His family returned to the states shortly after his birth; where he went on to attend segregated schools in the Teoc community and elsewhere around the country.
He served in the Navy, where he was a prisoner of war during Vietnam, before being released and eventually running for Congress.
After he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982, McCain voted against the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. national holiday in 1983. When he arrived in the U.S. Senate in 1986, he joined North Carolina Sen. Jesse Helms in opposing the holiday again, and voted in 1994 to cut funding to the commission that marketed it.
John McCain also aligned himself with former Arizona Gov. Evan Mecham.
Mecham was the governor in McCain’s home state of Arizona from January 1987 to April 1988, when he was impeached and removed from office for campaign finance violations. As a state senator and governor, Mecham publicly used racial slurs against black people and other minorities. He was also a member of the John Birch Society, which opposes civil rights legislation. In 1986, Mecham campaigned for governor on a promise to rescind the state’s recognition of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, which he did in 1987.
Earlier this year, during the 40th anniversary recognition of King’s assassination, McCain, by this time a presidential candidate, said he was wrong for opposing the national King holiday.
Politics in America has long been steeped in the dynamics of the country’s myriad cultures, diverse ethnicities, and varying religious beliefs. Several of Sen. McCain’s black relatives say Obama’s candidacy represents progress.
“He is denying his black and white relatives in Teoc,” said Joyce McCain, 54,. “I think he may not want the country to know his family’s full history, but times have changed and we need to move on, and that’s why I’m supporting Obama.”

LOVED THIS PART!! :>) :>)
It's like: IFFFF we don't go to the REUNION, THEN we are NOT related!! HAH! :>)
And McCain, well they should just use some of his DNA (you know the DNA they used to determine who all the heads of state are related to), and see if he's related to them.
I can just imagine Maury reading the results, "In the case of the black McCains vs. the white McCains, John Sydney McCain III, YOU ARE related!!!!"
LMAO
GreenLadyHere
Cheri: LOL! on Maury! :>)
SPEAKING of DNA: Now here's where we need ta be in order to DETERMINE the PATERNITY of TRIG!!
Bur, we cain't even get The Gov.'s MEDICAL RECORDS!
the Gov ain't giving up them records until they have been thoroughly scrubbed!
Speaking of which,I hard Biden was supposed to release his records today...

Now that Gen. Powell has endorsed Barack, not only are there plenty of white folks in crisis mode, the House Negroes are in meltdown mode, too.
So know that it's on, now. The grins are gettin' bigger 'n cheesier; the head-scratchin's gettin' faster; the buck dancin's gettin' sweatier; and the chittlin's and hot sowce is fitty cents a plate.

I disagree (or, maybe more accurately, hope you're wrong):
James Harris' 15 minutes are up. And I think the rest of his ilk will just kind of ride it out.
They will, however, be the talking heads for the next four years...if for no other reason to call out the "stupidity" of "voting for someone just because they're black."
OMG, Ronnie I'm supposed to be getting the kids off to school and I can't stop laughing!!!
Honey01
The McCain campaign's jealousy with respect to Obama's fundraising numbers is evident.
I recall a couple of days ago when McCain said he "could prove" that Obama has spent more money than any other campaign in recent history. U-duh.
So now in addition to the meme that his contributions are from questionable sources, the McCain campaign is now floating the idea that "he is buying this election". Gee, you need a mountain hill of cash to be able to counteract the hate the GOP is formenting.
Justice58
Honey01,
I heard Howard Kurtz quote the same thing on Reliable Sources yesterday. They are sickening with their stinking jealousy! Such haters. lalalalalalalalalala
I should clarify. Stephanie Cutter chewed up Tamron Hall and spit her out.
Just in case anybody thought it was the other way around.
TruthSeeker
Stephanie was the one on Hardball who was so busy trying to sass Chris, she got her facts wrong. He asked her who would get a tax cut under Barack's plan, but she had such an attitude and chip on her shoulder, she couldn's see that Chris was giving her a freebie. He'd just finished demolishing her Repub counterpart...duh.
Both Barack Obama and Joe Biden released recent medical records to the Times showing that they were healthy, though Altman notes that Biden's documents "did not indicate whether he had had a test in recent years to detect any new aneurysm," and Obama's most recent check-up was in January 2007.
Meanwhile, "Nothing is known publicly about Ms. Palin's medical history," Altman reports, "aside from the much-discussed circumstances surrounding the birth of her fifth child last April. Ms. Palin has said that her water broke while she was at a conference in Dallas and that she flew to Anchorage, where she gave birth to her son Trig hours after landing.
"Last week Maria Comella, a spokeswoman for Ms. Palin, said the governor declined to be interviewed or provide any health records."
_____________________________________________________________ Now, why would a healthy 44 year old woman refuse to release her medical records? Could it have to do with the parentage of baby Trig?
I'm just saying.
rikyrah
As I wrote below:
Not that I've forgotten about her not releasing the MEDICAL RECORDS - I hadn't.
You can call it a rumor. You can call it speculation. You can say that I read too many National Enquirers.
Call it whatever the hell you want to.
But that Downs Syndrome baby is either NOT hers(i.e., it's a grandkid) or NOT her secessionist hubby's. (it's the business partner's kid)
I'll bet REAL MONEY on that.

DUMB COMMENT OF THE DAY: Blond anchor on Fox and Friends says that maybe Tina Fey didn't stand next to Palin (on the SNL skit) because she knew Palin looks better than her.

Well that's why that dumb blond won't stand next to Billo because she may look dumber than even him.
Sepia, I admire your fortitude to be able to stomach Fox.

Can sombody give me a recap of Palin's appearance on SNL? I didn't see it and I don't want to raise my blood pressure by looking at the screeching harpy.
Jay
@ MsKitty -
I saw the 2 skits online...honestly she didn't contribute much, very little talking on her part...but here it is.
Yeah, that was a dumb comment. Palin sucked on SNL. Why did they even let her go on there? I could run their campaign better than they're doing, and I'm an amateur.
Sepia
Can someone give me more info on this?
Joe Madison said that when Colin Powell was contemplating a run for the presidency, Newt Gingrich told Powell that it wasn't his turn.
Town
The way I see it is this:
George HW Bush's turn was in '88 because he was the VP. He then became POTUS.
Since he was still POTUS in '92, it was his turn. But he lost and that opened it up for everyone else. McCain couldn't have run in '92 because Keating 5 was still hot.
Bob Dole had run 3 (?) times for the Republican nomination, so it was his turn in '96. And I think Cindy was either in trouble with the drugs or had a stroke, so no McCain.
McCain ran in '00 but George W. Bush jumped in and had better name recognition. He pushed McCain to the side and of course became POTUS.
And since Bush was POTUS in '04, McCain had to wait.
Now in '08, it's McCain's turn. Romney or Gingrich will probably feel it's THEIR turn in '12. I know Palin will be stupid enough to think it's her turn in '12.
Colin Powell NEVER EVER would have gotten support from the Republicans to run for the nomination. They give good lip service but Powell would have kept getting pushed to the back of the line. He ain't stupid, he knows this.
Part of why McCain is salty towards Obama is because he waited and waited and its' finally HIS turn and here comes Obama out of nowhere stealing his show. That's why Hillary & Co. were so salty towards Obama as well.
I gave hillary's website an exclusive email address so I could see what her campaign was sending out. I don't use that address for anything else.
Beginning on October 16, someone named "Paul Revere" from Indiana has been sending me a message or two a day entitled "Learn the Truth About Obama from HIllary Supporters Before You Vote."
Keep an eye on Pennsylvania, people.
They're going to try to steal it in Philly and the suburbs.
Barack is still going to win, but they're working the Clinton machine in PA for John McCain's benefit. That's why they won't pull out and are even doubling down with more Klan rallies, even though the polls have consistently been 13 points to their disadvantage for a month.
TruthSeeker
I've been wondering about PA...I expected them to pull out a week ago. Why would a typically blue state turn red in a year where Democrats have momentum??
Lilytiger
Craig, that's smart.
I read one imploding puma site pretty regularly to see how easy it is for people to throw away everything they claim to have worked for during the last forty years because Hillary was accused of cackling.
There are some twisted folks out there and I am not above leaving the Clintons out of that statement.
rikyrah
craig, if you would email me with copies of those emails, I'd appreciate it.
They come from a similar but different address everyday. This one is from PaulRevere2008@myway.com:
I urge you to read what many Hillary supporters have learned about Obama before you vote. The implication is that "paul revere" is getting email lists from the Hillary campaign.
Texas_Girl_in_LA
Craig,
I was just about to suggest that you send it to Action Wire (Obama Campaign) about this bs.
Interesting Obama and Hillary will be appearing together today in Orlando, FL, Bill in Nevada and Missouri. Hillary will be hitting FL, MN and NE for the next couple of days.
AnthonyMason360
Craig, is there anyway we can get a hold of those emails?
Micheline
It also explains why McCain is opening offices in SW Philly.
I have a friend on the ground in PA with the Obama camp. She says she spends her days trying to convince people that Obama isn't a "Arab Muslim baby eater."
rikyrah
he's not stupid, and Mrs. Powell was legitimately scared for him. She had lived in Jim Crow Birmingham, where her activist father kept numerous guns in the house so that he could get to one at a moment's notice.
I interpret this as meaning that each of the parties have possible candidates, which usually come from pools of people who are thought to have paid their dues (done a lot of favors for those in power, etc.). Saying that it wasn't Colin's turn was probably a reference to the fact that others ahead of him were already being prepped (and had promises of support) for the spot. Therefore, it wasn't his turn.
Many folks believe that this was one of the reasons that Hillary Clinton was so incensed by Obama not only running, but getting the support of a lot of Dems. In her eyes, it wasn't "his turn."
I am a firm believer that had the ticket been Powell/Bush in 2000, the GOP would've had the White House-and quite possibly Congress as well-for anywhere from 12-16 years.
By '00, Powell had more than paid his dues...and by all accounts that I've seen, he did it without kissing any ass. Not to mention that the country (again, from my limited viewpoint, as I spent the first half of '00 in boot camp) seemed to be really behind him.
Obama is what Powell should have been...but Powell wasn't what the GOP "wanted" at the time. Now we need a Obama, and there's no one in the pipeline that I can see.
Nate_Wesley
I will go to my grave believing that the day Powell was dissuaded from running for the presidency, the GOP's best chance at attracting significant Black support died. I can believe there would have been some maneuvering to hurt a Powell candidacy because his nomination might have caused a center-right split.
Great point, and I agree with you. The smart move would have been to pick Powell, but i really believe that the reason this was not done is because Powell ain't a punk. He's also not as far to the right as the direction of the party was moving, and with him calling the shots it would have been much harder for them to push their right wing agenda through.
And the other big reason I think they didn't pick him is because they didn't want to deal with the race issue. They know their party well...
And just to clarify, I wasn't trying to say that Powell hadn't paid his dues, but that that was the way those whose support he would need to run viewed it.
"Paying your dues" within the GOP means kissing a lot of ass and being able to slit a lot of throats. Neither one of those fit Powell; not his style. So you're right, the establishment needed to see a side of Powell that, in my opinion, doesn't exist.
And I'm sure that race had something to do with it as well. If Rove had to run a campaign against Powell instead of McCain in '00, Rove would've been a footnote in history. That crap wouldn't have flown against someone with Powell's resume.

I wonder who Keith's special comment will be about tonight.

I got distracted and missed it. I'm still pissed about the day long anti-Obama campaign that they waged over on Fox news. They did a whole special on the Ayers thing, and a bunch of other bull.
They went all into ACORN and got two of the silliest looking black folk to explain why they had registered bunches of times. They also had Al Sharpton on there. He was about the most sane thing they had on the whole day...
NAIROBI, Kenya — When Michelle Nzaumi's communications professor at the University of Nairobi asked students recently to bring to class a favorite speech by a world leader, their choices were remarkably predictable.
"Out of 50 students, half of us came with Obama speeches," said Nzaumi, a 20-year-old studying actuarial sciences. "He's that great to us."
Nzaumi, who said she watched all three presidential debates between Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain live, at 4 a.m. Kenyan time, admits to a serious case of Obama fever — and in Kenya, the East African nation where Obama's father was born, she's far from alone.
With Obama leading in the polls in the closing days of the U.S. presidential race, his name is featured daily on talk shows and in newspaper columns in Kenya. In Kisumu, the lakeside town in western Kenya which his father's family hails, seemingly every resident brags of being an Obama cousin.

More challenges for John McCain: Likely voters overwhelmingly reject his effort to make an issue of Barack Obama's association with 1960s radical William Ayers. Fallout continues from McCain's pick of Sarah Palin for vice president, with 52 percent saying it weakens their confidence in his judgment. And on optimism, it's Obama by 2-1.
SKIP
Optimism, meanwhile, is a strong point of differentiation between the two candidates. Likely voters by 62 percent to 30 percent see Obama as more optimistic than McCain – all else equal, an attractive quality in a candidate, as Ronald Reagan demonstrated. And in a similar attribute, voters by a 17-point margin, 54-37 percent, see Obama has having the better personality and temperament for office.
I was there! It was very crispy and chilly! But he was hot!
Hey, I just got back from seeing Joe. He was his ol devil self. That man is one big flirt. http://tacoma.rainiers.milb.com/ballpark/page.j... I was behind home with a straight shot of Joe. The stadium has 9600 seats and most of them filled or so it looked to me. One of the speakers said that we may have been the largest crowd for Joe.
Yeah.
This is for those who need to know. He was in a smart suit and an ice blue tie. On stage we were treated to speeches by Jim McDermott, (yeah the anti american guy, LOL), Adam Smith, Norm Dicks and then all the women. Darcy Burner, Maria Cantwell, Patty Murray (whom Joe kind of hugged, kissed and mentioned a little too much, the old codger) and Chris Gregroire.
You can see the crowd in this, one post said there were 12,000 but the stadium sits only 9600. Still the bleachers in Right Field were filled, too and there were people behind the stage and on the grass so probably about 9600. Still, it was good.
This is a good video of him up close and giving his speech. He was so smooth and calm and built and built to a crescendo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydHuE5N5RcU Great day, even if the air was a bit too crispy.
The strange thing is that I sat by an older skinny white couple who seemed like they were plants at first. They hated Gregoire, Murray and Cantwell. But they loved Joe. They were the rare animal that may vote republican down ticket but will be voting for Obama/Biden.

rikyrah: Seems like there IS some IN-FIGHTING - GOP-style:
There are important stories in regional papers today that touch on something that has been happening behind closed doors and is now starting to become public: clashing between state parties and the McCain campaign in two key states.
In Florida, the differences between Gov. Charlie Crist's state party and the McCain campaign have for weeks been an open secret among the political class.
Now comes word, via the St. Pete Times' Adam Smith, that the Florida GOP is holding back some of its money for the next cycle.
"State party officials announced to their state executive committee Saturday that they expect to carry over at least $2 million into 2009, rather than spend all their money on this election."
The news came on the same day that Crist was explaining why he hadn't appeared in any ads for McCain in the state.
''I haven't been asked,'' Crist explained to the Miami Herald's Mary Ellen Klas.
Up I-95, in Virginia, it isn't much better.
Party Chairman Jeff Frederick was rebuked by McCain for likening Obama to Osama bin Laden last week. And when McCain was in Frederick's backyard for a rally in Prince William County yesterday — he's also a state legislator — the chairman had no role in the program.
Some of the commentors don't seem to recall McAncient's REBUKE of Frederick's statement!

rikyrah: HuffPost reported 2 pieces of information on the Repug candidates' health:
UPDATE: The New York Times piece is now online. Reporter Lawrence Altman, a medical doctor himself, finds that "serious gaps remain in the public's knowledge about the health of the presidential and vice-presidential nominees," which is "a striking departure from recent campaigns, in which many candidates and their doctors were more forthcoming."
Of McCain, the Times reports:
If elected, Senator John McCain of Arizona, 72, the Republican nominee, would be the oldest man to be sworn in to a first term as president and the first cancer survivor to win the office. The scars on his puffy left cheek are cosmetic reminders of the extensive surgery he underwent in 2000 to remove a malignant melanoma.
Last May, his campaign and his doctors released nearly 1,200 pages of medical information, far more than the three other nominees. But the documents were released in a restricted way that leaves questions, even confusion, about his cancer.
A critical question concerns inconsistencies in medical opinions about the severity of his melanoma; if the classification of his melanoma is more severe, it would increase the statistical likelihood of death from a recurrence of the cancer. [...]
By not allowing reporters to interview him or his doctors extensively about his entire medical history, he has made it impossible to get a complete picture of his diagnoses and treatment.

Palin, said the governor declined to be interviewed or provide any health records." Story continues below
"Is there a doctor in the house?" :>) :>)

sorry Greenlady posted the same article. But Yeah, my comment was now why would a 44 year old healthy woman not provide health records? I suspect it has to do with Trig.
as Rikyrah said either she did not give birth to the baby or it isn't her hubby's. I am leaning toward -- she didn't give birth to the baby. just my take.

Val: Hey! :>) Let's just make it a 3-PERSON POST!! :>)
It's NOT like we are using up some commodity [like PAPER :>)].
Just shows that THIS TOPIC is that important!! :>) :>)
rikyrah
Not that I've forgotten about her not releasing the MEDICAL RECORDS - I hadn't.
You can call it a rumor. You can call it speculation. You can say that I read too many National Enquirers.
Call it whatever the hell you want to.
But that Downs Syndrome baby is either NOT hers(i.e., it's a grandkid) or NOT her secessionist hubby's. (it's the business partner's kid)
I'll bet REAL MONEY on that.
islandgirl550
I am with you on this. Before the story broke about her daughter I was sure there was a story surrounding that child. Where there's smoke...

rikyrah: Speaking of the National Enquirer - I'm STILL WAITING for their BIG EXPOSE from ALaska. They've been up there toooo long and we've ONLY heard about the "alleged affair" with the 1st Dude's "best friend!" :>) That hasn't gone so far, however.
Sooo, I expect ta hear a little somethin' somethin' from them.
I'm believin' that SHE had the Down Syndrome child for all the biological reasons that Down's Syndrome exist. Therefore, I CAN believe that he's the "alleged BF's ' child! :>)
WAITING TO EXHALE!!! :>) :>)
rikyrah
I just came to post this. It's about damn time that someone in the media started asking serious questions about this man's health.
IT IS AN ISSUE.

rikyrah: O.K. We'll SHARE!! :>) :>) My pleasure! :>)
Barack Obama profited Sunday from the coveted backing of former secretary of state Colin Powell and a jaw-dropping cash haul entering into the final fortnight of the epic White House race.
The Republican Powell, the first African-American to serve at the apex of the US military as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the 47-year-old Democrat would be a “transformational president.”
Powell carries the burden of his role in promoting the Iraq invasion. But his endorsement was still a stinging rebuff to Republican candidate John McCain, 72, and could help sway swing voters and military veterans.
His backing came as the Obama campaign announced a fundraising take of more than 150 million dollars last month, demolishing its previous record of 66 million set in August.
The gigantic treasure trove is enabling Obama, who enjoyed a 10-point lead in Sunday’s Gallup tracking poll, to hit McCain even harder with a nationwide advertising blitz before the November 4 election.

Addressing a carnival-like rally of more than 10,000 supporters here, Obama said he was “beyond honored and deeply humbled to have the support of General Colin Powell.”

Furniture salesman Mike Long, 33, said he had been less than 50 percent likely to vote for Obama. But after discussing health care with the candidate, he was now “98 percent” certain.
In this article, [I didn't want to cite her whole statement] some woman used the term RINO[Repug In Name Only] to refer to Mr. Powell. HATED HER!
Powerful video that drives home the messages in Powell's endorsement with videos of the bigots at the Palin-McCain rallies - and different pictures of the late Specialist Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan.

Thanks for bringing that over. That's powerful.

Anovelista: Very analytical! The people that were going to the KKKRally - - OOOPS! - McAncient/The Gov. Rally, were EVIL and WELL INDOCTRINATED with their "talking points." They REALLY had a "STIFF DRINK of the HATER-AID!!"
All were stupid enough not to realize that their violent racist rants were not only broadcast around the country but around the world they are so ignorant and afraid of. They have run off most Republicans with a brain and have basically helped hammer the nail into the coffin that is the McCain campaign.
They're turning out to be "Useful Idiots" - for the opposing team!
GreenLadyHere
Anovelista: All were stupid. . . . AGREED!! :>) :>)
I just posted that on Twitter and I'm going to pass it around. Weve got to shout from the rooftops any and every instance of GOP fraud from now until the night of November 4 when every single poll is closed!
