CNN just named Phil Gramm (who now works for a Swiss company) as one of the ten most wanted culprits of the financial collapse. It was reported that two bills he was able to push through were the beginning of the mess we're in now.
Remember Phil Gramm? He was McCain's friend and campaign financial adviser who said Americans were whining about the economy. He helped the top tier get richer while the middle class dissolved.
It was one of the cattiest exchanges I've ever seen and Frum was being a total bitch.

rikyrah: Mudflats picked up on Tina Fey's statements. But the most important part of the article is the "CAMPAIGN SIGN!" Hilarious!! :>)
Need a good reason (another one, I mean) not to vote for Sen. John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin?
How about to save Tina Fey’s life?
“If she wins, I’m done,” Fey tells TV Guide. “I can’t do that for four years. And by ‘I’m done,’ I mean I’m leaving Earth.”
But that will not keep her from continuing to spoof the former beauty queen right up to election day. And with good reason. The New York Post notes that political impersonations can actually do in a politician.
“Presidential impersonators do influence elections, and in this one, Tina Fey is well on her way to ruining Sarah Palin’s political career,” said Jerald Podair, a professor of American Studies at Lawrence University. THERE IS MORE.
Is anyone listening to the story about the Palin's house being built by the same company who later built the Hockey arena that left Wasilla indebt. Keith O is discussing it. The story is in the Village Voice.
Andrew Sullivan On Obama: Beep, beep: Road Runner lets McCain blow up Barack Obama’s strategy of calm is provoking his rival into fatal errors
Just a small portion of it
Remember the Clintons? They assumed this young liberal black man from Chicago was unelectable. They assembled their massive armoury, cashed in their chits and awaited the victory parade. Obama quietly but ruthlessly followed a stealth caucus and primary campaign that brilliantly leveraged Hillary’s inevitability against her. He made the first potential woman president look like the past. By the beginning of March, she was toast, although it took her a few more months to come to terms with it.
McCain never seemed to learn from the Clintons’ misjudgment of their rival. A key element of Obama’s strategy is classic rope-a-dope. He gets his opponents to splutter with irritation as “that one”, as McCain contemptuously described Obama in last Tuesday’s debate, glides towards them in the polls. He does his thing, raises masses of money, keeps his staff in perfect order and focuses on issues and themes. He can segue from the inspirational agent of change of the spring to the reassuring conventional pol of the autumn without anyone really noticing the seams. That takes political skill. You’ve either got it or you haven’t.
Obama rarely directly attacks. He subtly baits. His most brilliant rope-a-dope of the entire campaign was against Bill Clinton in the spring. In a newspaper interview, Obama cited Ronald Reagan as the last transformational president. He didn’t mention Clinton. The former president was offended by being implicitly dissed, took the bait and unleashed a series of unwise public scoffs at the young Democrat, culminating in a dismissal of Obama as another Jesse Jackson. Suddenly, black Democrats abandoned Clinton’s wife, and the Clintons’ base collapsed. Obama merely stepped out of the way as the Clintons self-destructed. He didn’t just end their campaign; he helped to bury their reputation.

So lemme see if I follow Kristol's logic here: Bush fired Rumsfeld and won the war so therefore McCain should fire his "pathetic campaign" staff in order to win the election...22 days from the election.
I'll start by recapping the whole shit storm on Friday. I live in Overland Park, KS, and was at a grocery store with my two and a half year old in the cart. As always, I was rocking my Obama T-shirt (one of several) and was going about my business in a laid back manner. I'm stopped in front of the coffee, when all of a sudden my cart is rammed. I look up, and a giant, pink wad of flesh is slowly trying to push his cart into mine. McCain put his foot in his mouth again today. He said (paraphrasing) that McCain's believe to love America, is to fight for her. He went on to say that there are other ways to love America, but he doesn't sit on the "sidelines". Of course, this suggests that anyone who doesn't see combat is loving America from the "sidelines", and they are not equal to those who see combat.

Yesterday I was reading where someone said they were shocked when they someone knocked on their door, and they opened it to find Obama going door to door speaking to the people in Ohio. Now there are pictures from someone who witness the event.
Kind of makes me wish I was in a swing state and got the honor to open my door to Obama.
But the McCain campaign's distortions are more than dishonest; they are dangerous, as are any misleading invocations of terrorism used to advance political ends. The attacker, if elected, diminishes the credibility he'll need should an actual threat arise. Even should he be defeated, the country is less able to assess the threat of terrorism in a clear-headed way. So ignore, if you must, that the McCain campaign's attacks are misleading, that they rile up the worst passions of the most bigoted voters, and that they are deeply destructive to the right's credibility.
The foremost reason to oppose them is that they make us less safe. That is why every Republican who hasn't denounced them already ought to do so. To tweak that awful phrase, partisan loyalty is not a suicide pact.
- Donald Scoggins, a prominent African-American Republican in Prince William County, has condemned Virginia Republican Party Chairman Jeffrey M. Frederick for comparing Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) to Osama bin Laden.
Scoggins said he’s been involved in the Republican Party for 40 years, but said Frederick’s remarks are “totally unacceptable.” Scoggins once headed Republicans for Black Empowerment, which sought to recruit more African-Americans Republicans to run for office.
“At this point in time, not just in Virginia, but all over, there needs to be a lowering of the decibel of hatred and that was very much uncalled for,” said Scoggins, who has been in touch with other GOP activists and leaders this morning to discuss Frederick’s remarks. “For him to equate (Obama) with someone as vile and destructive as bin Laden is just very much beyond the pale.”

The immigration event, which other photos show was packed with red-shirted Acorn member, was co-sponsored by the local Catholic Archdiocese, the SEIU, and other groups.
McCain, still spiting much of his party on immigration at the time, was the headliner.
Bertha Lewis, Acorn's chief organizer, said in a statement that came with the photo, “It has deeply saddened us to see Senator McCain abandon his historic support for ACORN and our efforts to support the goals of low-income Americans."
”We are sure that the extremists he is trying to get into a froth will be even more excited to learn that John McCain stood shoulder to shoulder with ACORN, at an ACORN co-sponsored event, to promote immigration reform," she said.

In Missouri, John McCain's Lead Among White Voters Has Evaporated: In an election for President of the United States in battleground Missouri today, 10/13/08, three weeks until votes are counted, Democrat Barack Obama has momentum and a meaningful advantage in SurveyUSA's latest tracking poll, conducted for KMOX radio in St Louis and KCTV-TV in Kansas City. The contest in Missouri has swung 10-points to Obama since SurveyUSA's last track point, 3 weeks ago. Then, McCain led by 2. Today, Obama leads, 51% to 43%. Among white voters, McCain had led by 11. Today, tied. There is movement among men, where McCain had led, now trails; among women, where McCain had been tied, now trails; among higher-income voters, where McCain had led, now trails; and among Independents, where McCain had led, now trails. In greater St. Louis, Obama had led by 5, now by 22. In greater Kansas City, Obama had led by 16, now by 31. George W. Bush carried Missouri by 7 points in 2004, and by 3.5 points in 2000. The state has 11 electoral votes, which are critical to any Republican who seeks the White House.

Fort Hood residents voice concerns over hate crime 10/13/2008 8:38 AM By: Brandi Powell
Residents at a town hall meeting in Fort Hood. Residents weren't shy at a town hall meeting in Fort Hood when it came to voicing their concerns about incidents they say happened in Kouma Village, a military housing base on Fort Hood.
Neighbors say several days ago an African-American woman living in the community, was sprayed with lighter fluid when she opened her door, her dog was killed and a noose with a doll and note was found hanging from her tree.
The note read, "Go back to Africa".
And before that, the woman says her lawn was set on fire multiple times.

Monday, October 13, 2008 MICHELLE OBAMA SPEAKS IN ST. PAUL, MN.
Hi All, I just got back from St. Paul to see Michelle Obama. She gave an impassioned speech at Macalester College’s Leonard Center. The center is a state of the art sports and wellness facility. The weather: Raining and 47% Fahrenheit. The line started forming 2 hours before the event. There were 4,450 in attendance. About a 1/3 of the folks were from the college, including folks from every age, every ethnicity, and the energy was so positive.
I spent the first hour in lively discourse with a student named Reco and a 45 year old white women who has a 18 year old daughter. I always love to hear what the young folks have to say, and Reco did not disappoint! Pictures to come. I got to shake Michelle's hands and she even wished my dad a happy 85th birthday! She makes great eye contact ,by the way.
Michelle's message: She brought it on home to the crowd about she and Barack's upbringing. She was genuine, natural and really related to everyone! She said she keeps reminding Barack that he's done 75-85% of the work to get elected. It's now up to us to vote for him.
It's time to pass the torch to the next generation- (The young and ready) Amen!

McCains economic remedy "I have a plan"Dont know what it is but hehas a plan Obamas economic remedy Now, that the governments of Europe and America are dealing with the financial crisis on Wall Street, Barack Obama is now proposing an economic rescue plan for the middle class.
We can't wait to help workers and families and communities who are struggling right now -- who don't know if their job or their retirement will be there tomorrow; who don't know if next week's paycheck will cover this month's bills.
We need to pass an economic rescue plan for the middle-class and we need to do it now. Today I'm proposing a number of steps that we should take immediately to stabilize our financial system, provide relief to families and communities, and help struggling homeowners. It's a plan that begins with one word that's on everyone's mind, and it's spelled J-O-B-S.
We've already lost three-quarters of a million jobs this year, and some experts say that unemployment may rise to 8% by the end of next year. We can't wait until then to start creating new jobs. That's why I'm proposing to give our businesses a new American jobs tax credit for each new employee they hire here in the United States over the next two years.
More, after the fold.
TomP's diary :: :: Obama is proposing a temporary tax credit for firms that create new jobs in the United States over the next two years, a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures for those making a good faith effort to pay, asking the federal government to lend money to struggling states and municipalities, and penalty-free withdrawals from IRAs and 401Ks in 2008 and 2009. See cnn.com for more details.
Democrat Barack Obama is proposing lifting penalties for withdrawals of up to $10,000 from retirement accounts and imposing a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures on some homeowners as part of a plan to boost the economy and aid middle-income taxpayers.
Obama also wants the Federal Reserve and Treasury to lend money to state and municipal governments that are have having trouble raising money and for federal lawmakers to ``keep all options open'' to help struggling automakers.
The Democratic presidential candidate's advisers say all of the measures, including a $3,000 tax credit to companies for each new job they create in the U.S, should be done immediately, either through existing authority or emergency legislation.
Bloomberg: Obama Proposes New Steps to Stem Foreclosures, Aid Taxpayers
I'm okay with tax credits for creating jobs. The other proposals are fine. The idea of a foreclosure moratorium may be a good idea. It can slow down the crash in the housing market as the financial market problems are addressed, and it will help people.
For those Americans in danger of losing their homes, today I'm also proposing a three-month moratorium on foreclosures. If you are a bank or lender that is getting money from the rescue plan that passed Congress, and your customers are making a good-faith effort to make their mortgage payments and re-negotiate their mortgages, you will not be able to foreclose on their home for three months. We need to give people the breathing room they need to get back on their feet.
Prepared Remarks of Barack Obama, from TPM
The most important part of Obama's program is something he has long supported, but that he did not mention today:
"We will pass the Employee Free Choice Act. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. We may have to wait for the next president to sign it, but we will get this thing done." -Sen. Barack Obama
UFCA
Building unions and reversing the great class stratification is the way to rebuild the middle class and Obama knows it. We need a New, New Deal, and I think Barack Obama and a Democratic Congress can make one. http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/10/13/13...

@greenladyhere. I could not believe it myself. Sad really.....
No one talks about poverty much in this race, but I knew that my man would have it covered in his policy proposals. As with everything Obama does, he takes a big picture view and isn't constricted by rigid ideology. That he's using Canada's success with the Harlem Childrens' Project as a big piece of his poverty policy is fantastic.
He's an icon in North Carolina. Here's the thing about the south...we love sports...no seriously - we live and breathe college football especially, but Norrth Carolina is ruled by college basketball and Dean Smith is the grandaddy of all college coaches...ever. A really successful college coach can have twice the pull of any politician in the state in the south.

I'm still LMAO at them moving Palin's Richmond rally from the ARTHUR ASHE CENTER to the Richmond International Raceway. They claim it's because of "extreme demand". They know damn well her rally is going to be held in that little bunch of bleachers where they have the horse exhibit at the State Fair every year.
There may be some validity to that; the room we were in was roughly the size of the Ashe Center, and it was pretty much filled. Not to mention a large sized crowd outside the hall that was watching the speech . I wouldn't expect that turnout in Richmond (though I know a lot of people are coming in for that rally that couldn't make the drive to VA Beach).
Town
The first thing you think about at the raceway is the big bleachers surrounding the raceway. But her rally will be held in that main exihibition hall they always have those traveling flea markets in, or it will be at that horse exhibition place. But they want you to think she'll be at the big track with all the bleachers. I might drive past there on my way home from work, take the scenic route.

And this is eliciting an ugliness at McCain-Palin events that is justifiably raising alarms that some nut job is going to act on the Republican ticket's cynical campaigning. So the McCain camp is trying to raise doubts about Barack Obama -- even though the Illinois senator has been on the national stage for four years and has been under the presidential campaign microscope for the last 20 months. For two days now, there have been stories about boisterous McCain-Palin supporters screaming inflammatory words at the very mention of Obama's name. Words like "terrorist" and "Kill him!" and "treason." And at no point has McCain or Palin called on those folks and others who would imitate them to stop. With just over three weeks until Election Day, the two presidential nominees appear to be on opposite trajectories, with Sen. Barack Obama gaining momentum and Sen. John McCain stalled or losing ground on a range of issues and personal traits, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
Overall, Obama is leading 53 percent to 43 percent among likely voters, and for the first time in the general-election campaign, voters gave the Democrat a clear edge on tax policy and providing strong leadership.
McCain has made little headway in his attempts to convince voters that Obama is too "risky" or too "liberal." Rather, recent strategic shifts may have hurt the Republican nominee, who now has higher negative ratings than his rival and is seen as mostly attacking his opponent rather than addressing the issues that voters care about. Even McCain's supporters are now less enthusiastic about his candidacy, returning to levels not seen since before the Republican National Convention.

Hillary did the same thing, copying Barack. Remember when she changed her slogan to "Solutions for America" like it was supposed to be the new "Change we can believe in?"

Honey01
Hey All,
I just rolled over to find Joy Behar on The View actually bringing up the Palin's ties to the Alaskan secessionist group. So between Keith, Rachel, and Joy this makes three in the MSM who are willing to bring it up? At this point in the election, I almost really do have to include the The VIew as they have provided more critical analysis than some actual journalist.
Oh yeah, Elizabeth Hasselback is an idiot. She actually just compared the "First Dudes" unusual role in running his wife's office to Michelle Obama having a "world view" and having wrote a "thesis"!
K, I am done. Funny thing is, I first turned the television AWAY from Palin's speech on CNN so that I would not hear her shrill stupiditity. Her influence knows no bounds.
Town
Elisabeth Hasselcrack is an idiot. 1st Dud sitting in the Alaska Governor's office running thangs like he's co-governor is in NO WAY comparable to Michelle Robinson writing a thesis in college before she ever even met Barack Obama. Elisabeth is doing all this woofin' and hollering on Michelle and if she ever met up with Michelle in person again she wouldn't sat diddly squat.
Sepia
Elisabeth just don't know how much black women got Michelle's back, so I suggest she not fix her face to talk about Mrs. Obama.
rikyrah
Go Joy!!
GreenLadyHere
Honey01: . . . shrill stupidity. . .
Co-signing! I just mustered up ENOUGH strength to listen to McAncient, so that I could find out what THE ENEMY is saying this morning!
Can we say BELLICOSE!? He is truly "STUCK on STUPID and on his WAR DAYS. No wonder he keeps referring to HISTORY. He is an HISTORICAL PERSON - waaaaay BACK there and NOT IN THIS TIME ZONE!! Whew!!
As you have stated, it is interesting that "The VIEW" is MORE CREDITABLE than MSM! AMAZING times!! :>)
A 106-year-old American nun living in a convent in Rome could well be one of the oldest voters to cast a ballot in the 2008 US Presidential election.
Sister Cecilia Gaudette, who last voted for President Eisenhower in 1952, has registered to vote and says she will vote for Democrat Barack Obama.
Although hard of hearing, she keeps herself informed by reading newspapers and watching TV at the convent.
"I'm encouraged by Senator Obama," she says.
"I've never met him, but he seems to be a good man with a good private life. That's the first thing. Then he must be able to govern," she adds.
Sitting in her modest office in the convent where she has lived for the past 50 years, the diminutive nun appears uninterested in the row inside the American Catholic church over Senator Obama's support for pro-choice policies on abortion.
Asked about her hopes for the US under an Obama presidency, she says: "Peace abroad. I don't worry about the Iraq war because I can't do anything about it. Lord knows how it will end."
"It is very complicated," she said. "Those Eastern people are not like we are."
But despite taking part in the 4 November election, Sister Cecilia does not intend to return to the US.
"I have no plans for the future. I am too old to go back to the US. Life has changed too much."
But she still watches "very important events" on TV. The election comes under this category.
My 3-year-old nephew saw a poster of Barack in my house and said, "That's Barack Obama." I asked, "Do you like him?" He said, firmly, "Yes."
From 3 to 106, Barack is pulling them in.
osiris1906
Just saw a little Black girl chanting 'NOBAMA" Palin speech. Amazing....
GreenLadyHere
osiris1906: Hey! :>) She don't know no betta. Just pray that the chile will be able to wrest herself from her parents in order to live a decent life as a proud African-American and NOT an "OREO".
The parents - LAWD HA'MERCY!! Didn't they look around and SEE the "WHITE SEA" that they were drifting in?
According to the Alaska legislative report on what has become known as Troopergate, Sarah Palin's husband used the Governor's office to promote a personal agenda. Indeed, while the report found that Governor Palin "unlawfully abused her authority" in her obsessive vendetta against her former brother in law, the 263 page document focuses heavily on "First Dude" Todd's activities.
The report specifically charges not only that "Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda, to wit: to get Trooper Michael Wooten fired," but that she "permitted Todd to use the Governor's office and the resources of the Governor's office, including access to state employees, to continue to contact subordinate state employees in an effort to find some way to get Trooper Wooten fired."
We also learn from the report that Todd Palin regularly sat in on Alaska's cabinet meetings, which, by the way, are not open to the public, as well as official discussions on the state budget, and that he appears to have been copied on hundreds of official e-mails as a matter of course. In addition, he has taken publicly-funded trips with state commissioners to inspect Alaskan mines and the proposed route for a new pipeline.

Being your wife's best friend is DIFFERENT than doing work for a State office you were NOT elected to do. And, my best friends don't follow me to work.
a better backhand here than Federer... Hillary yesterday in Penn: "I know you have friends and neighbors, and maybe even some family members who are not decided yet. You might even have a few leaning the wrong direction. So I am deputizing every one of you to go out and make the case because Barack and Joe are not asking you to marry them. They are asking you to vote for them - and vote for yourselves."
...your fair young maidens are safe. he just wants to work here is all.
amazing (and not) that grown men and women need such antebellum soothing, complete with twang (check the accent in the video kicking in at 4:18 and amping to height at 4:31)
Okay, now it's time to put Black conservatives on final notice and we'll use Tara Wall's ig'nant statement on CNN as the basis. She tried to down play the racism-that-JohnMcCain-built-up (the buck stops there Mr. Wanna-Be President) by saying "people decide not to vote for candidates for all kinds of reasons -- age, gender, etc."
So we'll go down the line to convict of being too chicken (or lackey) sh*t to make the obvious distinction.
"Tara Wall, Armstrong Williams, Ron Christie (honestly, they can have him)..." "When it came to a candidate's AGE factoring in an election? Did voters use AGE as a proxy to call the AGED candidate a terrorists who would signal a war between the AGED and AGED-less? Yes or No?"
"When it came to a candidate's female GENDER factoring in an election? Did voters view LYNCHING the female gendered candidate as "The Fucking Solution"?? "
"Have a group of voters ever shouted that the AGED or GENDERED candidate should be "killed" because of the threat their AGE or GENDER supposedly presented? Which AGED and GENDERED candidate in the history of the country were subjected to calls to have their heads cut off because of "concerns" that all trace back to their AGE and GENDER?"
Seriously, we should start a campaign not unlike their own and say they don't speak for Black people including themselves because they're obviously done fell, bumped their heads and loss their damn boot lickin' minds.
TruthSeeker
Look, we've got to come to terms with some things here. Tara Wall is but an inch deep, and is not exactly an intellectual genius. Maybe she needs to find another line of work...maybe engineering, or maybe she's a terrific artist, whatever.
yeah - sat next to her on little bitty plane from colo. once. noticed that, classically, even with not a material car in the world, they just don't seem happy, at most getting an odd pleasure out of being politically-serious 24/7 or smiling the schadenfreude smirk at enemies. ever seen the administration smile a real smile? really.
i think a mark of Obama and Michelle's confidence is their ability to honestly SMILE. Ali wasn't scared to smile. Ashe wasn't. Barbara Jordan - true grin and grit ...and grits. (i'm from texas.)
McCain used to smile, but now is stuck on swole for the past few years. the game takes a toll on the soul.
Levi knows he better put on a smiling and happy face or he'll suffer like Mike Wooten suffered.
Todd Palin STALKED Mike Wooten repeatedly. He followed him 100 miles out of the way to bust him so they could deny him the worker comp benefits (Wooten's boss had approved his activity). Todd Palin stalked him dropping his kids off at school.
The day AFTER Sarah Palin got elected Governor, Todd Palin went to the chief of police in Wasilla and told him not to hire him onto the Wasilla Police Force. Remember Wooten was still on the Alaska State Troopers. Sarah Palin was gonna fire Wooten off the Troopers and Todd Palin was gonna make sure he didn't get another job back in Wasilla.
I know Mike Wooten isn't the most sympathetic character, but how would any of us like it if somebody harassed us off the job, then called potential future employers and told them not to hire us?
Levi might be a f'in redneck but he ain't stupid and if he wants to live in peace in Alaska he will go along to get along.
TruthSeeker
No matter what Wooten did, his job is off limits...a person's livelihood is off limits.

You are SOOO wrong, but that is hilarious. Utterly hilarious.
Shoot, I was coming here with this. Looks like Palin's camp got to him and ordered him to say he was happy about marrying Bristol, and IN LOVE, or ELSE.
This, after first being ordered NOT TO TALK TO THE MEDIA:
I say that was a smoke signal to Obama. A cry for help so if/when the sh*t hits the fan, he's not on record dissing the future president. If they ever try to do a Wooten to him, he can just scream from the Alaskan mountain where you can see Russia THEY MADE ME DO IT!! HELP ME!!
LOL!!
I remember his poor mama being quoted when this thing first happened (and packs of reporters were stationed outside of her house) "This stuff is way over my head" so the kid is no dummy. He's only 18 and this charade probably won't last forever.

McCain was at a radio station in Virginia. When asked if it was appropriate for the head of the VA GOP to teach volunteers to tell people Obama = Osama, McCain claimed he didn't have enough information to know whether or not it was inappropriate.
Did he just forget what he told that old lady the other day?
More Americans believe that Barack Obama would "fit in well" in their community than John McCain. (63% vs. 54%).
Maybe it's because McCain's hate rallies are starting to show him as being "out of the mainstream," while Obama continues to demonstrate the kind of class that every neighborhood wants.
Town
Barack Obama = the neighbor who waves at you from the driveway as he gets his morning paper off of his nicely manicured lawn
John McCain = the neighbor who has "NO TRESPASSERS" signs plastered all over his yard and who yells at you to GET OFF MY LAWN.
Joe Biden = the neighbor who's always having a cookout in the backyard and invites you over and argues with you (good naturedly) about sports
Sarah Palin = the busybody neighbor who belongs to the Neighborhood Association. She's quick to point out that your grass is .0034 millimeters over the grass height limit and the flag flying from your front porch is the wrong color, but all of the neighbors who are her friends get away with infraction after infraction. She's the one telling the rest of the neighborhood the property values of the neighborhood will go down with Barack Obama around.
TruthSeeker
Hmmm....I see Biden as the guy in the neighborhood who knows how to do everything. Your sink's flooded?....call Joe. Need to build a retaining wall?...Joe knows how.
Sarah is the one who gossips about everybody's kids, but her kid comes home knocked up.

That's funny.
It reminds me of the video of Joe when being stalked by the media trying to see if he's the VP choice for Obama. He was handing out coffee and bagels to the reporters.
Lilytiger
And that he had had a good dump.
I finally get the image of Barack and Joe that has been miraging in my mind.....
I am surprised you have not mentioned J T Harris begging John McCain to get aggressive with Barack Obama!
On Wednesday, Barack just be your calm self and let John McCain make a fool of himself again!
Peace
James T. Harris, a local African-American talk-show host, stood and said, "I doubt that anyone in this room has taken, pardon me, the ass-whuppin' that I have taken for supporting you. Sir, I believe that in the next coming debate it is absolutely vital that you take it to Obama and that you hit him where it hits" [sic]. The crowd exploded. "ACORN is out there, we have Reverend Wright, all of these shady characters that surrounded him. I am begging you, sir." McCain told the man that he would take his advice—but that he also will offer a "positive plan of action" to address the financial crisis.
This blog posts and discusses nearly every thing associated with this election- 3 to 4 days before the mainstream gets the info. Check BACK from last week's discussion.
I'm done discussing this self loathing individual and support the end of his 15 minutes of fame.
That must be a concerted campaign strategy. Knowing the stoking of racist fears and anxiety would draw questions about their racism, they went to the old tried and tired rent-a-lackey strategy.
Proof?
Armstrong Williams had his on-the-take azz on Fox News this morning parroting the "beyond the pale" line the McCain campaign made about Rep. Lewis.
Again, if I'm John Lewis, I hold a press conference and call McCain's punk-azz out. First thing on the agenda: mf you know you've never had a relationship with me but when you thought telling that lie would help you, you tried to boost your rep. by calling me one of the wise men you would consult when you're president. Well, my remarks about the conduct of your campaign is pro-bono. Now f*ck the knee-jerk, read my whole statement and take full responsibility for what comes out of your campaign rallies instead of playing politics.
Nquest, ask Armstrong about those payoffs he made not to catch a case of sexual harassment...from other men he works with.
***eye roll***
Ever since he got busted for taking money from Bush to hawk "No Child Left Behind", he has no credibility and is nothing more than a House Negro trying to turn slave catcher.
McCain is supposed to be the head of his party, but he can't control his people. Tom Brokaw was on the Today Show and said that McCain's camp is in disarray. If you can't run your campaign and lead your party, how can you run and lead the country?
Sepia, Brokaw totes water for McCain's camp, the dirty mofo.
Now its sounding like he's seen the clusterf--k up close and personal and trying to desert the ship with the rest of the rats.
I used to respect Brokaw; after this shyt, I'm hanging his connection to McCain around his neck and refute the "objective journalist" label he's been wearing all these years.
msmartin
You are so right about Brokaw - I used to respect him too. I found out alot about a lot of folks during this election cycle.

As I've said before, there needs to be a serious social consequence for statements like this.
You notice how hardly anyone makes anti-Jewish remarks in public anymore? That's because our Jewish brothers ain't havin' it. There's a serious penalty for it; but the white boys and girls who think it's OK to clown us, don't believe there's a penalty. Simply being called a racist is a badge of honor today.
We've got to return to a time when racialized public comments about Black people are met with quick, decisive, severe, and lasting consequences.
Ronnie, if there's repercussions administered "Harriet Tubman" style, that would stop the comments.
RonnieB
"And then we saw the lightning, and that was the guns; and then we heard the thunder, and that was the big guns; and then we heard the rain falling, and that was the drops of blood falling; and when we came to get the crops, it was dead men that we reaped." -- Harriet Tubman
Val
of course they won't Sepia. But that is alright because the VOTERS will denounce it.
Four months ago—when the presidential race was still in its polite phase—Axelrod conducted war games. Campaign consultants drafted a "vulnerability study," and produced a series of mock attack ads against Obama, to get a sense of what might be coming. They tested the mock commercials in focus groups. Later they developed a series of real ads to defend Obama and take on John McCain, including several that paint the Arizona senator as being "out of touch" on the economy. When the McCain campaign started blasting Obama on his relationship with Bill Ayers, a 1960s radical with the Weather Underground who later became a college professor, Axelrod's team had its own attack ad ready to go: a 13-minute Web video (complete with sinister whispers and menacing shadows) about McCain's relationship with Charles Keating, the disgraced 1980s financier.
McCain Campaign Volunteers Taught To Accuse Obama of Terrorism:
"In other words, by bringing to light the rhetoric being taught to his campaign volunteers, Time Magazine has provided the explanation for why attendees at McCain and Palin rallies have called for the death of Sen. Obama rather than just his defeat, which would be the norm in such events. When supporters of a Presidential candidate view the opposing candidate as merely an election threat, they call for his defeat. But when they view the opposing candidate as a national security threat--as they are being taught by the McCain campaign--they call for that threat to be eradicated".
What the hell is McCain trying to do here?

There was a kos diary where someone said they were told that by canvassers who came to their door.
