Obama rarely directly attacks. He subtly baits. His most brilliant rope-a-dope of the entire campaign was against Bill Clinton in the spring. In a newspaper interview, Obama cited Ronald Reagan as the last transformational president. He didn’t mention Clinton. The former president was offended by being implicitly dissed, took the bait and unleashed a series of unwise public scoffs at the young Democrat, culminating in a dismissal of Obama as another Jesse Jackson. I'll start by recapping the whole shit storm on Friday. I live in Overland Park, KS, and was at a grocery store with my two and a half year old in the cart. As always, I was rocking my Obama T-shirt (one of several) and was going about my business in a laid back manner. I'm stopped in front of the coffee, when all of a sudden my cart is rammed. I look up, and a giant, pink wad of flesh is slowly trying to push his cart into mine. Before I could get a word out, the massive, balding, mouth-breathing troglodyte proceeded to call me a "commie faggot" because I was an Obama supporter.

Clearly the ONLY people who could support John McCain are psychos.

This diary should be made into a short film.

He wrote it yesterday, and today updated with it a follow up call from the cops...the icing on the cake.

McCain put his foot in his mouth again today. He said (paraphrasing) that McCain's believe to love America, is to fight for her. He went on to say that there are other ways to love America, but he doesn't sit on the "sidelines". Of course, this suggests that anyone who doesn't see combat is loving America from the "sidelines", and they are not equal to those who see combat.

GOP Leader Condemns Frederick

- Donald Scoggins, a prominent African-American Republican in Prince William County, has condemned Virginia Republican Party Chairman Jeffrey M. Frederick for comparing Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) to Osama bin Laden.

Scoggins said he’s been involved in the Republican Party for 40 years, but said Frederick’s remarks are “totally unacceptable.” Scoggins once headed Republicans for Black Empowerment, which sought to recruit more African-Americans Republicans to run for office.

“At this point in time, not just in Virginia, but all over, there needs to be a lowering of the decibel of hatred and that was very much uncalled for,” said Scoggins, who has been in touch with other GOP activists and leaders this morning to discuss Frederick’s remarks. “For him to equate (Obama) with someone as vile and destructive as bin Laden is just very much beyond the pale.”

Town, You made me think about the time I tried to take my baby to Byrd/Maymont Zoo park after leaving the DMV and somehow ended up in the middle of a Confederate parade on Boulevard. All the confederate bikers were in front of me. I tried to get out, but Robert E Lee, JEB Stuart, etc in full uniform rode up behind us on horseback. All I had was Eric B and Rakim. Residents at a town hall meeting in Fort Hood.
Residents weren't shy at a town hall meeting in Fort Hood when it came to voicing their concerns about incidents they say happened in Kouma Village, a military housing base on Fort Hood.

Neighbors say several days ago an African-American woman living in the community, was sprayed with lighter fluid when she opened her door, her dog was killed and a noose with a doll and note was found hanging from her tree.

The note read, "Go back to Africa".

And before that, the woman says her lawn was set on fire multiple times.

Fort Hood Garrison Commander, Colonel Bill Hill said it's a main concern that they are investigating.

"That is the number one priority here on Fort Hood. And again, that doesn't mean that there aren't incidents that occur."

The reported victim spoke out at the meeting, but asked media to turn their cameras off to protect her identity.

Military leaders say people who live at Fort Hood experience two-thirds less crime than those living in surrounding cities.

Monday, October 13, 2008 MICHELLE OBAMA SPEAKS IN ST. PAUL, MN.

Hi All,
I just got back from St. Paul to see Michelle Obama. She gave an impassioned speech at Macalester College’s Leonard Center. The center is a state of the art sports and wellness facility. The weather: Raining and 47% Fahrenheit. The line started forming 2 hours before the event. There were 4,450 in attendance. About a 1/3 of the folks were from the college, including folks from every age, every ethnicity, and the energy was so positive.


I spent the first hour in lively discourse with a student named Reco and a 45 year old white women who has a 18 year old daughter. I always love to hear what the young folks have to say, and Reco did not disappoint! Pictures to come. I got to shake Michelle's hands and she even wished my dad a happy 85th birthday! She makes great eye contact ,by the way.

Michelle's message: She brought it on home to the crowd about she and Barack's upbringing. She was genuine, natural and really related to everyone! She said she keeps reminding Barack that he's done 75-85% of the work to get elected. It's now up to us to vote for him.

It's time to pass the torch to the next generation- (The young and ready) Amen!

Hey, ya'll....back from the rally in VA Beach. Don't know if it's actually over or not, as my son started crying-loudly-the minute McCain and Palin walked out. So much for his future as a conservative.

Nothing too terribly offensive from my vantage point....one "Obama bin Lyin" sign that I got a picture of. No off the wall yelling from the crowd that I heard, except the periodic "Nobama" chants and boos. Then again, I didn't really expect that in VA (at least not this part).

I'm still LMAO at them moving Palin's Richmond rally from the ARTHUR ASHE CENTER to the Richmond International Raceway. They claim it's because of "extreme demand". They know damn well her rally is going to be held in that little bunch of bleachers where they have the horse exhibit at the State Fair every year.

There may be some validity to that; the room we were in was roughly the size
of the Ashe Center, and it was pretty much filled. Not to mention a large
sized crowd outside the hall that was watching the speech . I wouldn't
expect that turnout in Richmond (though I know a lot of people are coming in
for that rally that couldn't make the drive to VA Beach).

The first thing you think about at the raceway is the big bleachers surrounding the raceway. But her rally will be held in that main exihibition hall they always have those traveling flea markets in, or it will be at that horse exhibition place. But they want you to think she'll be at the big track with all the bleachers. I might drive past there on my way home from work, take the scenic route.

Jeremiah Wright.[I HATE this STATEMENT] Just as it wouldn't be inappropriate to raise questions about McCain's association with G. Gordon Liddy, the convicted Watergate burglar whose colorful history includes telling listeners to his radio show in 1994 to shoot federal agents in the head. When McCain went on Liddy's radio show in November 2007, he told Liddy, "I'm proud of you, I'm proud of your family... It's always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great."

With just over three weeks until Election Day, the two presidential nominees appear to be on opposite trajectories, with Sen. Barack Obama gaining momentum and Sen. John McCain stalled or losing ground on a range of issues and personal traits, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Overall, Obama is leading 53 percent to 43 percent among likely voters, and for the first time in the general-election campaign, voters gave the Democrat a clear edge on tax policy and providing strong leadership.

McCain has made little headway in his attempts to convince voters that Obama is too "risky" or too "liberal." Rather, recent strategic shifts may have hurt the Republican nominee, who now has higher negative ratings than his rival and is seen as mostly attacking his opponent rather than addressing the issues that voters care about. Even McCain's supporters are now less enthusiastic about his candidacy, returning to levels not seen since before the Republican National Convention.

A 106-year-old American nun living in a convent in Rome could well be one of the oldest voters to cast a ballot in the 2008 US Presidential election.

Sister Cecilia Gaudette, who last voted for President Eisenhower in 1952, has registered to vote and says she will vote for Democrat Barack Obama.

Although hard of hearing, she keeps herself informed by reading newspapers and watching TV at the convent.

"I'm encouraged by Senator Obama," she says.

"I've never met him, but he seems to be a good man with a good private life. That's the first thing. Then he must be able to govern," she adds.

Sitting in her modest office in the convent where she has lived for the past 50 years, the diminutive nun appears uninterested in the row inside the American Catholic church over Senator Obama's support for pro-choice policies on abortion.

Asked about her hopes for the US under an Obama presidency, she says: "Peace abroad. I don't worry about the Iraq war because I can't do anything about it. Lord knows how it will end."

"It is very complicated," she said. "Those Eastern people are not like we are."

But despite taking part in the 4 November election, Sister Cecilia does not intend to return to the US.

"I have no plans for the future. I am too old to go back to the US. Life has changed too much."

Who is Todd Palin?

According to the Alaska legislative report on what has become known as Troopergate, Sarah Palin's husband used the Governor's office to promote a personal agenda. Indeed, while the report found that Governor Palin "unlawfully abused her authority" in her obsessive vendetta against her former brother in law, the 263 page document focuses heavily on "First Dude" Todd's activities.

The report specifically charges not only that "Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda, to wit: to get Trooper Michael Wooten fired," but that she "permitted Todd to use the Governor's office and the resources of the Governor's office, including access to state employees, to continue to contact subordinate state employees in an effort to find some way to get Trooper Wooten fired."

We also learn from the report that Todd Palin regularly sat in on Alaska's cabinet meetings, which, by the way, are not open to the public, as well as official discussions on the state budget, and that he appears to have been copied on hundreds of official e-mails as a matter of course. In addition, he has taken publicly-funded trips with state commissioners to inspect Alaskan mines and the proposed route for a new pipeline.

McCain was at a radio station in Virginia. When asked if it was appropriate for the head of the VA GOP to teach volunteers to tell people Obama = Osama, McCain claimed he didn't have enough information to know whether or not it was inappropriate.

Glen Dale -- Democrats in Marshall County countered the Palin visit with a Rally of their own on Sunday.

West Virginia State Senator Jeff Kessler hosted an event at St. Jude Park in Glen Dale.

West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin was at the event.

Kessler said recent events in the world economy and Wall Street show the need for change.

"We do need positive change, more of the same is not the way to go," said Kessler.

Kessler predicts West Virginia is now leaning toward the Obama ticket.
