I thought that Josh Brolin nailed him! If you haven't, you must see the Charlie Rose interview of Brolin and Oliver Stone about making the film, and how Brolin says that he pretended that he was a rat in a maze to prepare for the part. I did think that the Karl Rove character could have been more ugly, (i.e. fatter and more calculating). Ellen Burstyn was too pretty to be Mama Bush. But I could sense the real conflict between Poppy Bush and W. And Thandie Newton nailed Condi's mannerisms.

Good Luck!

Congrats, Baratunde! Don't they show Newsnight on PBS? If so, I'll be watching. I am currently reading an advanced copy of A Mercy. I wish I had something profound for you to appropriate...! I'm enjoying it so far, although I suspect it will not attract any new readers. I do like the idea of focusing on an earlier era of slavery that doesn't often get that much attention. In any case, I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say. Good luck!

Good Luck!
