This is so exciting! Tomorrow I join a panel of some pretty cool people talking about some pretty cool things on the BBC programme (see how I spelled it all British-like?), Newsnight Review

Did a quick search on the Morrison's book. Apparently she spoke about it on NPR on Monday.

Hey Jack,
IMHO, the best artistic response to the Bush Presidency will always be the film, “V for Vendetta.” That film really said it all. I encourage anyone who has not seen it, to rent it.

Congrats, Baratunde! Don't they show Newsnight on PBS? If so, I'll be watching. I am currently reading an advanced copy of A Mercy. I wish I had something profound for you to appropriate…! I'm enjoying it so far, although I suspect it will not attract any new readers. I do like the idea of focusing on an earlier era of slavery that doesn't often get that much attention. In any case, I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say. Good luck!

Please, for God's sake, talk about the Double Standards in Media coverage between McCain's Camp and Obama's.
How McCain/Palin is getting free passes to the point they own the amusement park while Barack has to work for everything and still to some white people, it's not enough.
The BBC America channel is all I watch these days.

Under Reagan and Thatcher ART flourished in the USA and UK [read THAT allot from my fav punk and noise musicians].
MTV killed everything in the mainstream.
There is a HUGE wave of creative bands in the US and UK underground, mostly noise and new folk people, bunch of Leftists.
But I doubt that it has anything to do with Bush.
From my distant observation – I am just a consumer!- there IS cynicism and victimization mostly than objectivism in dealing with 9/11.
But address the UK crime against humanity by getting rid of Chagoans from their homeland [Chagos Island] for USA to make it a military base and constantly denying them the RIGHT to go back.

I haven't seen Generation Kill, but I did see in the Valley of Elah, which I wish had gained more traction last year. It was a very raw and emotional story about a soldier who had returned from Iraq. Great performances by Tommy Lee Jones, Susan Sarandon, and Charlize Theron.
I wonder why you didn't care for W. Was it too sympathetic in your view? I thought that Josh Brolin nailed him! If you haven't, you must see the Charlie Rose interview of Brolin and Oliver Stone about making the film, and how Brolin says that he pretended that he was a rat in a maze to prepare for the part. I did think that the Karl Rove character could have been more ugly, (i.e. fatter and more calculating). Ellen Burstyn was too pretty to be Mama Bush. But I could sense the real conflict between Poppy Bush and W. And Thandie Newton nailed Condi's mannerisms.
