A black bourgeoisie perspective on U.S. politics
We may be bracing for an onslaught of bigoted remarks, comments, slurs and whatnot against the Obama Campaign from McCaint and crew in the next thirty days, but from where I sit, it’s already started.
Additionally, there’s some rumor floating regarding what color Obama will paint the White House if he’s elected.
Then, I posted the following on a jackass middle school teacher down in Tallahassee.
But what is really worrisome, even though it should be cause for some celebration, is Karl Rove’s call on the Electoral College. At this point, he’s actually calling it for Obama, but I’m used to this slug pulling the dirtiest of GOP dirty tricks, which has earned him enshrinement in the GOP Bastard Hall of Shame:
With 30 days until Nov. 4, Karl Rove projects that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) would get at least 273 electoral votes – three more than are needed to win – if the presidential election were held today.
At this point in the game, I expect ANYTHING to come out of the GOP camp, and I do mean ANYTHING, because it’s time to play scorched-earth political campaigns. It is time for the McCain camp to go kitchen-sink and toss everything at Obama to see what will stick long enough for them to turn the tide. I’m remembering after the last debate, back in 2004, when I thought John Kerry delivered a knockout punch to George Bush, I celebrated the rest of October.
As it turns out, a lot of us celebrated early. Yeah, the Ohio Secretary of State, Ken Blackwell, may have fixed the state of Ohio to go for Bush, but the reality is, the GOP threw a kitchen sink at the Kerry camp and they did nothing to combat it. The Swiftboat guys were allowed to lie and never get called on their lies. When Dan Rather tried to prove GeeShrubya was missing from that National Guard post back in 1972, he got fired from CBS for his trouble.
We don’t need to brace ourselves for the GOP onslaught – the minute they trotted out a college drop-out beauty queen as a VP running mater, the signal was sent. The need for vigilance is more needed than ever.
Like the GOP Dirty Tricks haven’t started already.
UPDATE FROM CPL: Sarah Palin needs to be schooled and badly. Now she’s launching attacks against Obama that have been debunked already. Annnnd, she’s saying the Associated Press is wrong, when they tell her that Hillary Clinton already traveled this path:
But while Ayers and Obama are acquainted, the charge that they “pal around” is a stretch of any reading of the public record. And it’s simply wrong to suggest that they were associated while Ayers was committing terrorist acts. Obama was 8 years old at the time the Weather Underground claimed credit for numerous bombings and was blamed for a pipe bomb that killed a San Francisco policeman. (emphasis mine)
The analysis at this point, is that McCain may come to regret letting her loose like this:
And though she may have scored a political hit each time, her attack was unsubstantiated and carried a racially tinged subtext that John McCain himself may come to regret.
Like I said…the attacks have already started, and what’s worse, this woman is attacking like a pit bull that needs to be put down for recklessness.

As we watch Sarah Palin in the role of attack dog, I am absolutely convinced that she will perform this role with astonishing, black-belt competence. Why? Because she is so filled with anger. She has no interest in matters of policy, as we all know. But she has plenty of interest in every little detail of the vicious political attack.
She won't be shooting any polar bears, at least not until after November 4, but she is loaded for bear.
I am afraid that Obama, who handled Hillary's attacks well, may be making a big mistake if he underestimates the effectiveness of Sarah Palin as attack dog.
Finally, Palin has found her groove! I'm afraid that we probably ain't seen nothing yet. I am seriously worried that Obama may have a more difficult month ahead than any of us suspects.

I have always believed that if you live in a glass house, don't throw stones. Funny how the pitbull in lipstick is saying that Barack Obama is palling around with terrorists, yet she fails to mention the U.S. Council for World Freedom, which was chaired by a guy named John Singlaub, who wound up involved in the Iran contra scandal. She forgot to mention that John McCain sat on the board of this group. Also, according to Paul Begala, the Anti-Defamation League, in 1981 when McCain was on the board, said this about this organization. It was affiliated with the World Anti-Communist League – the parent organization – which ADL said “has increasingly become a gathering place, a forum, a point of contact for extremists, racists and anti-Semites.”
So, it seems a little hypocritical that John McCain would conveniently forget this little gem floating around in the blogosphere.

Be a surrogate.
You're a surrogate when you talk to undecided voters.
You're a surrogate when you register people to vote and tell them that it does in fact mater who is president.
You're a surrogate when you're phonebanking or canvassing.
You're a surrogate when you talk to others about volunteering themselves.
You're a surrogate when you talk to people at the store, at the game, at a barbecue, a social, when you're dropping off or picking up your kids, wherever you are.
You're a surrogate when you write a letter or an op-ed for a local newspaper or newsletter or blog.
Don't wait for the surrogates to speak. Say what you think needs saying.

The choice of Palin is the single most telling thing John McCain has done to telegraph his total disregard for this country, its safety and sanctity. It communicates the most insulting act of this election: that anyone alive would so deeply risk the future of this country in such a vulnerable time by even for one second considering allowing someone as unprepared, immature,self-centered,and misguided as Sarah Palin to govern anything constitutes an immeasurable selfishness on the part of McCain.
It is astounding that people from all walks of life are not calling him on this 24/7. It is astounding that she is not put under the hot microscope all candidates usually are. There is no time to play nice here

Unfortunately, the msm is no longer objective. McCain is bullying msm (his base) from reporting the real truth. We should be hearing more about Troopergate, but we aren't. We have to rely on blogs like Mudflats (excellent blog) and others that can't be touched by McCain's bullying tactics. The blogosphere has the freedom to expose McCain for the lying crook he really is. This is why you hear the right wing whining and vilifying the left and independent blogs, because they can't control the message.
Maddow and Olberman can only do so much. It's up to us to be bold in bringing up McCain/Palin's character, as wel las the blatant double standard against Obama. The blogosphere is the only medium where McCain and his cronies can't intimidate. We have to keep telling the truth since msm is afraid to do it's job.
The best defense against a smear is the aggressive pursuit of facts and truth.

Children Aware of Voter Prejudice
Children are aware white males have monopolized the US presidency, and most attribute the trend to racial prejudice, according to a study published Sunday.
Calling into question the idea children live in a color- and gender-blind world, researchers at the University of Texas, Austin, reveal “most elementary-school-aged children are aware there has been no female, African-American, or Hispanic President.”
In addition, “many of the children attribute the lack of representation to discrimination,” said Rebecca Bigler, professor of psychology at the University of Kansas, and lead author of the study, published in the journal Analyses of Social Issues and Public Policy.
SKIP
If Obama loses his bid for the presidency, there may be little change in children’s attitudes, but it could fuel their perception that American voters are racially prejudiced,” she said.
“In contrast, if Obama wins children may believe that exclusionary laws and racial prejudice no longer shape the outcomes of the presidential elections.”
A blind man could “SEE” the RACISM in this race since DAY 1!
Otherwise, I'd like to see the follow-up AFTER the election. Hmmmm!

CPL: Here's another one that “fits”:
http://blackpoliticsontheweb.com/2008/10/05/ana...
Analysis: Palin's Words Carry Racial Tinge
By claiming that Democrat Barack Obama is “palling around with terrorists” and doesn’t see the U.S. like other Americans, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin targeted key goals for a faltering campaign.
And though she may have scored a political hit each time, her attack was unsubstantiated and carried a racially tinged subtext that John McCain himself may come to regret.
SKIP
“Our opponent … is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country,” Palin told a group of donors in Englewood, Colo. A deliberate attempt to smear Obama, McCain’s ticket-mate echoed the line at three separate events Saturday.
“This is not a man who sees America like you and I see America,” she said. “We see America as a force of good in this world. We see an America of exceptionalism.”
SKIP
With her criticism, Palin is taking on the running mate’s traditional role of attacker, said Rich Galen, a Republican strategist.
“There appears to be a newfound sense of confidence in Sarah Palin as a candidate, given her performance the other night,” Galen said. “I think that they are comfortable enough with her now that she’s got the standing with the electorate to take off after Obama.”
SKIP
“It’s a giant changing of the subject,” said Jenny Backus, a Democratic strategist. “The problem is the messenger. If you want to start throwing fire bombs, you don’t send out the fluffy bunny to do it. I think people don’t take Sarah Palin seriously.”
SKIP
Palin’s words avoid repulsing voters with overt racism. But is there another subtext for creating the false image of a black presidential nominee “palling around” with terrorists while assuring a predominantly white audience that he doesn’t see their America?
In a post-Sept. 11 America, terrorists are envisioned as dark-skinned radical Muslims, not the homegrown anarchists of Ayers’ day 40 years ago. With Obama a relative unknown when he began his campaign, the Internet hummed with false e-mails about ties to radical Islam of a foreign-born candidate.
Whether intended or not by the McCain campaign, portraying Obama as “not like us” is another potential appeal to racism. It suggests that the Hawaiian-born Christian is, at heart, un-American.
SKIP
ohn McCain occasionally looks back on decisions with regret. He has apologized for opposing a holiday to honor Martin Luther King Jr. He has apologized for refusing to call for the removal of a Confederate flag from South Carolina’s Capitol.
When the 2008 campaign is over McCain might regret appeals such as Palin’s perhaps more so if he wins.

DOES OBAMA'S RACE TRUMP THE ECONOMY?
Apparently “The Heartland of America” believes it does and McCain is staking his presidency on it. McCain/Pallin/GOP is so convinced that if they get the discussion back to Obama's skin color, McCain can win. McCain is working hard at returning the Obama discussion back to “We don't really know him” which in code translates to “DON'T FORGET HE'S BLACK.”
It has to be our hope that ones pocket book, the recession, gas prices, two wars, lost mortgages, lost jobs, lost retirements and the $700B deficit economy would outweigh the issue of race. The sad part is that the issue of race may be more deeply entrenched, particularly in the heartland, than we realize. When race trumps people's bank accounts, it's a sad state of affairs in the USA.
What's unsaid on the race issue: Although the discussion about the debate has been all about Chess Queen Sarah Pallin, Joe Biden is the real victor. We don't talk about race much in this country but if the minds of men could speak, this is what we would hear from majority voters: “I feel more comfortable now voting for Obama with Biden at his side based on his performance at the debate.” Biden delivers the vote and wins over the minds of vascillating men.
The OCTOBER SURPRISE: WILL OBAMA'S RACE TRUMP THE ECONOMY?

My prediction: Obama's unprecedented rise to power IS Divine Providence. No weapon formed against him shall prosper, it won't work.
