I think McCain has Alzheimer's. The first symptoms my father displayed was fidgetiness and ambling.

That is cause for concern.

Melanoma is no JOKE. People have died from A BOUT of melanoma.

Despite Bob Dole's obvious disability, he was in much better shape and looks better than McCain, even to the point at one time, Dole was hawking Viagra and advertising that he was on that lil blue pill. And that was probably an attempt to paint himself as vigorous as Bill Clinton.

You put Dole side by side with McCain and guess who comes out looking better? Bob Dole, and he's pushed past 80 (I think he's 82 now).

McCain's not helping himself – release the records and settle this curiosity.

On McCain's health

McCain likes to deflect questions about his age and health with jokes. “I'm older than dirt—more scars than Frankenstein,” he says, often before telling a story about the spry antics of his still vibrant 96-year-old mother Roberta. At a recent meeting with newspaper editors in Washington, McCain pretended to fall asleep when asked about his age. Humor aside, the campaign has clearly decided that the candidate is his own best defense. “Obviously, I think there will be a greater observance of me,” he said about his age while on a bus tour through Iowa last year. “Whether it has an impact or not will be directly related to my performance.”

He is religious about taking precautions. When outdoors, he usually dons a baseball cap, even in the dim light of winter. His chalk-pale skin is a testament to the care he now takes in the sun. “I hope everyone has some sunscreen,” he told the traveling press at a recent campaign stop in the coal hills of Kentucky. His doctor checks for new blemishes every few months, with his last announced checkup taking place in March. “Everything's fine,” McCain said the following day.

McCain in 'excellent health,' doctor says

FOUNTAIN HILLS, Arizona (CNN) — A team of doctors from the Mayo Clinic declared Friday that there appears to be no physical reason why Sen. John McCain, the 71-year-old presumed Republican presidential candidate, could not carry out the duties of the office.

“Sen. McCain enjoys excellent health and displays extraordinary energy, and, while it is impossible to predict any person's future health, I and my colleagues can find no medical reason or problem that would preclude Sen. McCain from fulfilling all of the duties or obligations of the president of the United States,” said Dr. John D. Eckstein, an internist who has been overseeing McCain's treatment for 16 years at the famed research center's campus in Scottsdale, Arizona.

McCain has been undergoing periodic examinations there since the 1990s and annual examinations since 2000, Eckstein said. His most recent comprehensive examination took place in March, with follow-up tests this month.

The doctors described a number of health issues faced by McCain, many of them typical for a man of his age but at least one of them potentially serious.

McCain has had four malignant melanomas removed. Three of them — on his left shoulder, left arm and left nasal wall — were limited to the top skin layer and were not invasive. They were removed in 1993, 2000 and 2002, and all were declared Stage 0, of little long-term concern.

But a fourth melanoma proved to be invasive and was removed from his left lower temple in 2000, Eckstein said.

The surgery on McCain's temple was carried out in August 2000 by Dr. Michael Hinni, who described the melanoma as 2.2 mm thick at the thickest point and 2 cm across.

Unlike Bill Frist, the doctors quoted by AmericaBlog qualified their statements as a guess, and not an actual diagnosis, having never physically seen or examined McCain – if they did, they would be in violation of all sorts of confidentiality laws and HIPAA regulations. Bush's doctor can't tell you what's going on with him unless Bush gives the okay.

If McCain has nothing to hide about his medical condition, he should produce the records. Obama did.
