Did any one see Larry King with Robert Kennedy Jr. and Michael Reagan? Michelle Bachman and another Obama supporter were on split screen. They were discussing you guessed it, Ayers. Robert Kennedy brought up Palin's assosciation with AIP/Successionist. He flat out asked what about it?, and Larry cut him off and told him they were out of time.......cut to advertisements!

I saw that BS....I was like WTF?
Elephants & Flowers
On a happy note, my 8 yr old son (Black) is having a sleepover with two of his classmates. One white (Irish) and one white? (Cuban&Irish). They walked in as I was watching Hardball and one of his young guests said, "I like Obama. I'm voting for Obama." Then, they all started to loudly chant "OBAMA!" - marching around the room and on the furniture.
I should have hurt them for standing on the sofa. But, I was too happy.

Elephants & Flowers: RESPECTFULLY, I would have jumped on the sofa with them!! Just that ONE time for the "O"-MAN!! :>) :>)

Michelle Bachmann (R Rep - Minnesota) may be almost as scary as Sarah Palin. She was on Hardball today going on about Obama's associations, caling him anti-American asking for a media investigation into other members of Congress that may be anti-American and a host of other crap that can't be explained and needs to be viewed to believe her blatant ignorance. I'm sure it will be up on Huffpo, MSNBC and/or Youtube soon. The commentators that followed were a mix of shocked and upset at what they witnessed. Well everyone except Pat. Oh Pat, I try to tolerate him because he is what he is and he will never change but today he really pissed me off. And without going any further because it will just piss me off more does anyone here honestly believe that in the course of Pat's life he has never been to a party with an extreme racist, crook or liar?
GreenLadyHere
pjamma: She was READING The Gov.'s SPEW - -er speech!! :>)
You could hear that she didn't have one original thought.
And she's somebody's official REP>??? How embarrassing!! She's DUMB 2.
Don't the Repugs VET anybody?? Just let any old dog in!!
Whew! Annoying Deep Breaths! :>)

DUMP MICHELE BACHMAN You can view this hussy on Hardball today.
I see she was on Larry King too. I only turned the channel (watching my girl Rachel) to see her and two other Rethugs in the last couple minutes before the show ended.
Needless to say, she still had that stupid smile on her face. We will see for how long.
Honey01
This woman is completely vile. I really thought I was listening to Palin's twin. Not only do they both spew similar hate speech, Bachmann appears to be just as vapid and lacking in depth
I really could not believe what I was hearing. My husband has really been anti-Chris lately because he feels he never interrogates GOP bullshiters. I think Chris goes both ways. On one hand I wanted him to rebut her charges or ask about McCain's associations. However, he simply let the twit show her ignorance and hate with little assistance.
The Obama campaign advisor and the editor from The Nation were clearly upset. I mean emotional after hearing this lunatic.
I don't know what else to say about Pat Buchannan. The constant comparison to KKK associations is well.....beyond. His new catch phrase, what is it "afro-racist"?
I think MSNBC has made a deliberate choice to keep Buchannan. They obviously believe he is good for their network ratings. Perhaps, they believe he balances out Ketih. Any day now he is going to say something so vile ...
I did notice Chris at the end warning him about "watching it" that his natural "instincts" were starting to show. lol

Pat Buchanan is like Mr. Wilson on Dennis the Menace. He's harmless now. They keep him around like that crazy mean old great uncle that your mama made you go visit to take him a carry-out plate from Piccadilly. Every once in a while he says something endearing in between all the batshit crazy rhetoric. I think that's why Rachel actually calls him "Uncle Pat"..that's exactly what he is in her eyes. Does anyone still take Pat Buchanan seriously?

Co-sign, Honey01, I heard that bitch. I live here in MInnesota, and I'm am writing an OP ED and sending it to both the Pioneer Press and the Star Tribune. She's auditioning to play Palin's twin.
Michelle Bachman is up for relection come Nov. 4, and her opponnet is ahead in the polls. So, she's struggling to hang on to her seat right now, and of course she has been handed the filty talking points of hate and divisive slime.
I posted on her last week regarding her blamming minorities for the shitty meltdown on wall street.
Honey01
How do you think her "performance" tonight will be received in Minnesota?
I hope she goes down! Her challenger has already raised $30k since her appearance on Hardball.
spirit_55z
That bitch is going down! Just like Palin, she's known around here as the "Barbie Doll of 10,000 Lakes." Also, another one who hides behind religion to justify her shenanigans.
Yes, and I have donated to Democrat Elwyn Tinklenberg's campaign too.
As for her "no vote" for the bailout, it was just a smokescreen for all the campaign donations she's recieved from corporate America, firms like can you say Freddie & Fannie?

What do you think would happen if one of Obama's children did this?
I do have something to say about Robert Bauer's letter to Mukasey.
It was really well written, in that, someone like me could understand it. *lol*
However, I feel on a broader note, the only way to fight against the Republicans and MSM on this topic is to carry a bigger stick. They want to yell false accusations of voter fraud, we yell VOTER SUPPRESSION, louder
Because that is exactly what this is. They have done it in the past and plan to do it by purging the rolls (which has already begun).
The Republican's are playing with fire ... literally. And I truly believe 100% that they would rather see our country burn to the ground than lose their power. Power for them equals MONEY ... and money is the root of most evil.
Yes, the love of money is the root of all evil. And I agree that the GOP seems perfectly fine with the notion that if they can't have the country, nobody will. After watching the reports today of what seems to be an increase in threats of hate crimes against blacks, I am truly disturbed.
I saw a comment on here the other day that said before it is all over they will burn an effigy of Obama. Well guess what they showed on the news today? An effigy...
he meant that J. Wright's "AFRO" was racist, it being of the close-cropped kind in diametrically vehement opposition to the true wild fro worn by the luminaries of times past.
on the real, i'll sorta take afro-racist, not as a statement of fact in this case but rather as a neologism. If accepted, then we must acknowldedge "afro" as a modifier, leading us to the question: If there is such thing as an "afro-racist" then WHO, pray tell, is the plain old everyday racist? [this one needs no modifier, obviously, as we all know who he is.] seems patty B has just indicted himself...

DETROIT — Four Tops lead singer Levi Stubbs, who possessed one of the most dynamic and emotive voices of all the Motown singers, died Friday at 72. He had been ill recently and died in his sleep at the Detroit house he shared with his wife, said Dana Meah, the wife of a grandson. The Wayne County medical examiner's office also confirmed the death.
With Stubbs in the lead, the Four Tops sold millions of records, including such hits as "Baby I Need Your Loving," "Reach Out (I'll Be There)" and "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)."
The group performed for more than four decades without a change in personnel. Stubbs' death leaves one surviving member of the original group: Abdul "Duke" Fakir.
Stubbs "fits right up there with all the icons of Motown," said Audley Smith, chief operating officer of the Motown Historical Museum. "His voice was as unique as Marvin's or as Smokey's or as Stevie's."
The Four Tops began singing together in 1953 under the group name the Four Aims and signed a deal with Chess Records. They later changed their names to the Four Tops to avoid being confused with the Ames Brothers.
They also recorded for Red Top, Riverside and Columbia Records and toured supper clubs.
The Four Tops signed with Motown Records in 1963 and produced 20 Top-40 hits over the next 10 years, making music history with the other acts in Berry Gordy's Motown stable.
Their biggest hits were recorded between 1964 and 1967 with the in-house songwriting and production team of Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland. Both 1965's "I Can't Help Myself" and 1966's "Reach Out" went to No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart. Story continues below
Over the course of the election cycle, I’ve read my share of baseless, disgraceful, ignorant and outright racist criticisms of Barack and Michelle Obama – from both ends of the political spectrum and everywhere in between. But the article I’ve pasted below, in my humble opinion, dwarfs all of them. It is the vilest 218 words I’ve ever read about the Democratic nominee.
Ed Whelan of the National Review writes:
Former Fetus Barack Obama Nearly 48 years ago, a young woman, not yet 18 became pregnant in her freshman year of college. Living in a time and place in which abortion was generally illegal, she proceeded to marry the father of her child and gave birth to a son. Perhaps she would have done so irrespective of the abortion laws at the time, even if, say, she lived in a legal culture that celebrated abortion as a fundamental right. Very possibly not. (I haven’t found any statistics on the percentage of pregnant college freshmen who abort their pregnancies, but indirect indications suggest that it’s very high.)
Barack Obama may actually believe, as he stated yesterday, that Roe v. Wade “was rightly decided.” But it may be very lucky for him, as the son born of that woman, that it hadn’t been decided a dozen or so years earlier.
That Obama may owe his very life to a pre-Roe legal regime that banned abortion is, to be sure, not necessarily a reason that he should favor that regime (though I can’t help noting that Justice Thomas’s critics recklessly accuse him of hypocrisy for opposing racial-preference plans that they say he benefited from). But it ought to lead Obama and others to think more carefully about the valuable role that protective abortion laws play
Lilytiger
It still doesn't explain why the writer's own mother didn't seek out a back street abortion. I guess, ignorance really isn't bliss.
soulsistah02
Whelan's "analysis" is baseless and ill-conceived. With every article I read, I notice that Blacks are not the affirmative action hires, it's white folks.
A family of McCains from Teoc, Miss., have an uncommon view of the campaign: they are descended from slaves held by the family of John McCain's great-great-grandfather.
If I were a Black McCain, I'd damn sure make sure to show up at the reading of John's last will & testament. :)
Sepia
Is it just me or did the article try to make it seem like the white McCains were "only doing what other whites were doing at that time" as a way to exonerate them?
The black McCains of today were raised to believe that they were blood relatives of the white McCains, dating back to slavery times. White McCains say they're unaware of any biological connection between the families. A spokesman for Sen. McCain declined to comment.
Now that's an American story. The Black side raised to believe the truth and the white side claiming to be "unaware of any biological connection between the families."
I hope the Black McCain's star in Henry Louis Gates next PBS special and participate in DNA tests!
Palin's Staffers Keep Her Away From The News To Avoid Being "Depressed"
A day after The Washington Post's Dana Milbank wrote how the Secret Service is blocking press at Sarah Palin's rallies, it appears Palin's staff is blocking her from listening to the press. Palin revealed that she is in an ever growing media bubble at a fundraiser last night. During the same speech, Palin also attributed polling numbers to God: "We even saw today, thank the Lord," she said, looking upwards and raising her fist, "We saw some movement."
"So North Carolina, I appreciate you all so much, who are here who already get it. You know, maybe I'm preaching to the choir a little bit here, but being here encourages me because I know that I'm not alone and I'll send this message back to John McCain also. At those times on the campaign trail when sometimes it's easy to get a little bit discouraged, when, you know, when you happen to turn on the news when your campaign staffers will let you turn on the news," she said, prompting laughter from the group. "Usually they're like 'Oh my gosh, don't watch. You're going to, you know, you're going to get depressed.'"
She added that while she doesn't always appreciate the way reporters portray the GOP ticket, she's been bolstered by the prayers of many of the campaign's backers.
"But yeah, sometimes you do get depressed watching what it is that they're reporting and the spin and some of the distortion of what our message is and what we stand for. Sometimes that, that gets draining," she continued. "But it's at events like these and our rallies that we are so energized and inspired and we know that we are not alone. We feel your strength and we feel the power of prayer, so many of you tell us that you are praying for us and praying for our country and that's why we so appreciate you being here."
Michelle
So let me try to understand:
John McCain is hurt by something John Lewis said, and feels it is appropriate to whine about it on national TV during a debate in a time of national economic crisis.
Sarah Palin's staffers are concerned with keeping her from getting depressed and she feels that this is worth mentioning to the crowd as she campaigns during a time of national economic crisis.
These people are asking the country to elect them to be leaders in this time, but are so blatantly self-centered that they do this stuff.
Dear John and Sarah: leadership means it's not all about you. If you don't understand what I mean, observe Senator Obama's approach. That's what a real leader is like. He gets it.
(Likely Sarah response: GOD and JESUS want us to win! Me me me want want want!)
(Likely John response: I put country first I was a POW and come from a long line of McCains and that should make you trust me -- my friends, I know how to get things done, I know! me me me want want want)
Such greedy self-involved nasty people. Blech.

McSame relationship to Gordon Liddy.... yet not ONE mention on the hideous MSM Mika and Joe were all Palin/McSame love all the time
Imagine it took Letterman to bring up the relationship I am google bombing that stuff all day Liddy raise over 150,000 for McSame and his senate campaigns
I'm tellin' y'all, the media is going to carry McCain's water bigtime over the next couple of weeks.
Look no further than Morning Joe. Man, I really can't stand that show. A day after McCain compares Obama to bin Laden, conducts a dishonest and deplorable robo-call campaign . . . a day after the GOP makes a racist "Obama Bucks" food stamp smear . . .
all good ole' Joe and Mika can talk about is how swell a guy McCain is because he told a couple of jokes at the Al Smith dinner last night.
Every time McCain smears Obama or links him to terrorists, the media treats just shrugs its shoulders and says, "well, campaigns are tough." Every time Palin incites her crowds to violent rhetoric, Mika is the FIRST person to say how much she admires her fighting spirit. But John Lewis calls the McCain camp on it's dangerous rhetoric and they spend their entire show demanding that Obama reject and denounce.
This stuff is NOT cute.
It's not the bias that gets me. It's the fact that MSNBC allows Morning Joe to masquerade as an objective morning show. Pat Buchanan, Joe Scarborough and Mika B. is not an objective morning show. There's NO WAY MSNBC or any other network would allow Keith O. or Rachel Maddow to host a 3 hour morning show. That's a big deal. The morning shows shape the media cycle. Since they're assumed to be neutral, reporters book appearences on these shows to advertise their newspapers.
It's not a time for political analysis. . . mornings should be a time for straight facts. Tell us the news and move on. People multitask in the morning . . . they're getting ready for work, getting they're kids ready for school. They don't have the time to debunk the bias they hear on Morning Joe.
So when they put a happy face on the hate-speech coming from the GOP . . . when they call McCain the happy warrior and ignore his smear tactics . . . surprise, they push a skewed view of the campaign. All in the name of "fair" journalism. What a joke.
No surprise that Joe share's his morning narrative with the Drudge report and this stupid "shock" poll coming out of Gallup. This "shocking" poll shows a dead-heat, two point race between Obama and McCain.
What Joe doesn't tell you is that he cherry-picked this poll. In fact, Gallup has two other polls that give Obama a slightly narrower, but still significant 6 point lead. Even more, the poll Joe used is Gallup's "Traditional" poll of likely voters, which is not the poll they've been using in this race.
538.com lays it out, here: Slow news day, Matt? If this is a two-point race right now, I'll eat Drudge's fedora. None of the dozen or so other polls that were in the field this week shows a race that close. Nor do either of the alternate versions of Gallup's model, including the so-called Likely Voters II model that I find most credible. (Drudge, of course, had no interest in featuring the Zogby poll, as he had for the past several of days on his site, but which today showed Obama gaining ground.)
Let me be clear: I don't blame Drudge for trying to drive the narrative. Unlike certain other folks, it's not as though he's made any claim to being objective. With real news -- which polls aren't -- he generally has excellent and entertaining instincts.
I do, however, blame those of who allow yourselves to have your day ruined when Drudge moonlights as some kind of polling analyst.
Morning Joe and the rest of the msm will try to shape this election to benefit their ratings. They will descredit polls that show a sizeable Obama lead and overemphasize polls that show a close horse race. They will supplement these cherry-picked polls with media narratives that focus on why "Obama can't close the deal," . . . "Is Obama complacent?" . . . and "McCain is the comeback kid."
Joe had the nerve to act like this "shocking poll" was the direct result of McCain's debate performance when he knows damn well that the tracking polls don't include Thursday's response to Wednesday's debate. Again, he is shaping the media cycle.
Joe starts ranting about ACORN. Funny, I didn't hear Joe say a damn thing about the thousands of voters that are being purged from the voting rolls as we speak. I didn't hear him talk about the GOP efforts to suppress the vote in swing states. But he'll talk about ACORN . . . and blame the "liberal" media while doing it.
And this is supposed to be a fair and balanced morning show? Give me a break.
Sorry for the rant. But it's clear to me that the media wants a close race for ratings purposes. In fact, I get the feeling that shows like morning joe would love to see Obama lose a close race. That way they get their Republican in the White House, but still get the chance to pat themselves on the back for covering Obama's historic campaign.
One morning Mika said outright that she was for McCain. And you know Joe Scar-o is party loyal. Get them together with Pat Buchanan and they have a good time pushing the party line.

CANTON, Ohio – A man who burned a cross in front of his home says he was arrested in a misunderstanding over his Halloween decorations.
Thirty-six-year-old Shane Helson said he wanted to make his annual yard display more authentic and set fire to the T-shaped wooden cross so it would look more weathered.
The fire department responded Tuesday night, and a police complaint said Helson continued to spray lighter fluid on the wood after authorities arrived.
He pleaded guilty to having a disorderly house, a misdemeanor. Municipal Judge Mary Falvey fined Helson $100 and ordered him to complete 75 hours of community service. He is also barred from burning any more crosses on his display.
If Helson violates any conditions set by the court, he would have to serve 30 days in jail.
Helson is white, as is next-door neighbor Stephanie Blankenship. But her husband is black, and Blankenship says they have had problems with Helson and his roommate before and she feels intimidated.
Where are Black Republicans when things like this (and Chicken & Watermelon; assassination jokes, etc.) happen? Notice how these well-trained Black Repubicans stand mute in the face of racist attacks and caricatures of Black people?
The racist cowardice that's exhibited in cross-burnings and cartoons, is matched only by that exhibited by the Black (Republican) folk who stand by and do nothing about it.
You Black righties need to study the words of Reverend Dietrich Bonhoffer (you know: "First they came for the Catholics, but I wasn't a Catholic ...")
Things like this kick in the self-preservation gene. If you call someone on this, you're either drummed out, or you get the non-apology, or you're given something to placate you until you forget what happened (or until the next incident). You can't walk away in protest, because then you'll realize (or be reminded of) how much you weren't needed in the first place.
But, eventually (hopefully) you wake up one day and realize how f'd up it all is. And you snap, damage to your credibility within the organization be dammed.
Now, you might see one person come out and make the requsite "that's f'd up" statement for all black conservatives/Republicans. But it has to be someone awfully damn credible (a Powell, Rice, Michael Steele) for it to be taken seriously. And God help the black conservative/Republican who tries to defend this (off subject: thanks to whoever stole my screename )....James Harris, anyone? I'll check that out and get back to you.
True, freedom of speech does include the freedom to say something I don't like. But it also gives me the freedom to tell you I don't like it. Some black Republicans/conservatives check that freedom at the door as the price of admission.
GreenLadyHere
D: Party aside, 1st Amendment granted, etc. , etc., etc., - Did THIS OFFEND you as a Black person? YES or NO?
'cause I couldn't read your position through ALL that you wrote. Unless you didn't think that that was a question.
D, many people--myself included--have walked away from the Democratic Party for much less. So in this day of racist cartoons, violence-inspiring rallies, and other racialized coded messages, there really isn't a burdensome conundrum of a choice: either one accepts this kind of racism as the cost of membership, or one walks away with his or her self-respect and dignity intact.
Teacher
Right. Plus, Michael Smerconish can flip, & the Chicago Tribune, who has NEVER endorsed a dem since it was founded in 1847 can flip, but Black repubs can't flip....Friends without benefits.
Issues.
Town
You can't walk away in protest, because then you'll realize (or be reminded of) how much you weren't needed in the first place.
If the Republican party thinks that little of black Republicans, why are you there in the first place?
I'm not saying you should vote Democrat, but stuff like the Obama food stamps and ignoring black Republicans and not supporting black Republican candidates should really tell black Republicans they are not wanted, needed or liked. Why stay?
I'd like to see a VIABLE third party. The problem for me with third parties is they always start at the top (Presidential race). They never start at the bottom (school board, city council, dogcatcher) and build support from the ground up. I don't see why black Republicans couldn't start their own party and work from the ground up to make changes in our communities.
GreenLadyHere
Town: So co-signing!! WHY STAY??
Those who stay - I feel sorry for the way that they, apparently, think of themselves. SAD - but true.
Life's great question....and the one that I'm dealing with now.
If I decide to run somewhere in '10, it will be as an "independent conservative." I can't, in good conscience, align myself with the GOP in what could be a contest against another black man. Not after this year.
There's a threefold problem with what you're suggesting:
1. I'm not sure there's enough of us to form a viable organization,
2. Black Republicans/conservatives are gonna have to deal with the same internal illnesses the rest of the GOP is gonna face,
3. It's the ultimate catch 22: we'd be disowned by the black community (wait, we are now!!), and we'd lose the weight of the ol' boy network. That would put us completely on our own.
Town
But the ol' boy network isn't applying its' weight to you now. I guarantee, if you run as a black Republican in '10, the Virginia Republican party will pay about as much as attention as they are paying to Jim Gilmore -- zilch, nada, zero.
I think many more black people than not have a lot of the same conservative values as black Republicans. But they'll never vote Republican because the Republican Party does not like black people. The Republican Party doesn't even like the black people IN the Republican Party.
Start out small, like with a school board or board of supervisors. A black man with a funny name is NOT supposed to be 19 days away from possibly being elected the next leader of the United States. Yes He Can and Yes You Can. If black conservatives actually talked TO black people instead of talking AT or talking DOWN to black people, you'd get more headway. James T. Harris "might" have a good message but nobody is going to be receptive to it when they're being told by him that they're sheep, simple, don't think and not as good a Negro as he is.
I'm starting to come to that same conclusion, even though I can't tell how much of the nonsupport is because I'm talking about something two years out or because I'm black.
I'd have to talk to people; probably have to literally go house to house in Hampton Roads and Richmond. Not to mention that I'd have to do it several times, cause the first few would probably be a round of slamming doors.
Town
I think if you went door to door, people would remember it and appreciate it. I remember when Donald McEachin was running to be my delegate, and he walked from door to door asking for people's vote. The white guy he was running against (this was a majority black district --East Richmond) said he wasn't going to go into the neighborhoods because they were "too dangerous." Then why you tryna be the delegate from that district? Then after he got called out for that he said he was going to spend the night with a black family "to see how they live." Bitch, we live the same as you, in a HOUSE, paying the bills, etc. Needless to say he lost.
And before you say "well of course he was going to lose, he's a white guy," the guy representing that district today is white. Still a majority black district.
Point is, people appreciate it when you reach out to them instead of reaching over them. Try talking to people (and starting now), just to really talk to them and find out what their concerns are.
It's like they are in serious denial about some of the core activities going on in the party. This is so sad. It's like we've turned the clock back 50 years. What's next, lynchings, police dogs and water hoses, intimidation at the voting booths?
Sepia
According to Democratic Underground, Thom Hartman announced on his show that Joe the Plumber was arrested 3 times for domestic violence.
Sepia: Just from the texture of his skin [I've worked with many of them], he looks like he "sips a bit" also. That matches the "domestic violence" actions.
Annnnnd, if I cared, his educational/employment history would be very telling.
And those "buddies" he kept referring to in his interviews are probably part of the same militia.

Is Colin Powel going to endorse Obama?
Town
Why is Colin Powell's endorsement so important?
Fox News is already saying that because Powell was dancing with rappers that it means he's ready to endorse Obama.
Translation: Of course Colin Powell is going to endorse Obama because he's black.
I think the white undecideds & conservatives will just see Powell endorsing Obama because he's black.
Progressive/liberals will just see Powell endorsing Obama to jump on the bandwagon.
I don't know, the "endorsement" seems too late in coming. Maybe if he had endorsed during the Rev. Wright saga or around the time of the DNC, but an endorsement now just seems like bandwagon jumping, just like when Edwards finally endorsed Obama after seeing twhich way the wind was blowing.

Ms. Martin, we have 19 days until O becomes President of the United States of America and leader of the free world. Let that sink in for a minute and fill you with excitement and contentment.
Those who are endorsing now are just jumping on the bandwagon of the winning team, IMO, like Bill Clinton. If they endorse or don't endorse, no one cares. If Powell backs McLiar, it might give a minute of solace & justification to Black repubs who insist on going down with the ship. Other than this, no one really cares one way or another.
This is Powell's chance-after thirty-odd years of carrying out the orders he didn't like-to be his own man.
He'll endorse Obama, and then tell the world to leave him in peace (read: no job in the administration).
Admiral_Komack
About Powell's chance to be his own man...I would agree with that if Powell had endorsed Obama earlier.
But now...I don't care who Powell endorses.
Obama, McCain, Puff The Magic Dragon...whatever.
Nate_Wesley
A meaningful Colin Powell endorsement of Obama will require Powell to pointedly acknowledge the real shortcomings and blunders of the administration that he worked for. As much as I want to believe he'd do so (and to some extent he has), I'm not very optimistic that he will go that hard or that far.
I'm expecting more of a 'non-endorsement endorsement' similar to the one Condoleeza Rice gave, where she said that the country would be in good hands under an Obama presidency (or a McCain one, as she mentioned both).
And endorsement by Powell would be a wonderful revenge on the Bushes for making him look like an ass to the world for that bullshit he read at the UN. It would also be a sign that he is not looking for a career in politics.
A non-endorsement could mean that he may angle for 2012
I agree. I really think that Colin has had his fill with the dirty game of politics. Hopefully he has the sense to stay out and keep making rounds in the lecture circuit...
Powell can't run in 2012, unless Obama is a complete, utter failure (for you liberals, read: worse than Bush).
And even with that, the GOP wouldn't put him up. Not ready for a black candidate yet.
I think he really wants to just be left alone.

If Obama has a week of Honeymoon, I'll be shocked. Joe & Mika are already paying people to think up clever, snarky oneliners that would be insulting, demoralizing and would simultaneously errode any confidence that the viewer might have. Here's Joe: "What's Obama waiting for? See we told you he was all talk and you, the american voter, didn't believe us. Now, look at what you strapped us with for the next 4 years. It's going to be a long 4 years."
The REAL deal is that the country is in the toilet. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO PULL OURSELVES OUT AND IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN OVER NIGHT. The National Treasury and banks have all been raided and the cupboard is bare. The robber barons paid themselves extra for getting rid of you neighbor's job. The stockmarket is tanking. Costs are going up for basic necessities. If you have to pick between food & car insurance, what are you going to pick? Yet, if you happen to get stopped by the police without the insurance, you will be criminalized. If a tornado or hurricane knocks you house down & your insurance company says they can't pay, you're shit out of luck. The country is so financially leveraged, that it is actually a national security risk. If you see O in Saudi Arabia holding hands with Sheik Muhammad, you know he's begging for more time to pay the note. Ditto with China. I'm not trying to make folks depressed, but he picked a very challenging time to want to be POTUS. Bush left our country in a "NOLA after Katrina" state. If I didn't like him (O) so much, I'd think he was a fool. We have to support him & his good ideas as best we can, and remind people who made the mess. Times might get hard, and Obama will be the easy target.

Co-signing. If I were to say one thing for Colin Powell, it would be that he's very loyal to the Bush Admistration in which he served. He had to have known there were no WMD before he went before the U.N.
His type of loyalty reminds me of some of the mosst overused Star Trek episode plots. A member of the crew must decide between their loyalty to the captain or.......
Teacher
Aaaaaah. I'm not sure about this and would like to have more data. But the loyalty you describe, as I interpret it, is the type of loyalty where the slave refused to accept freedom after emancipation because s/he loved the massa so deeply and felt s/he would be better off as an item of property than as a free person. If Colin Powell feels this way, and it's really hard for me to wrap my little mind around the idea that he could, I would totally lose all respect for him forever. Totally. Forever.
Admiral_Komack
...or wear the red shirt and beam down with Kirk, Spock, and Mc Coy, NOTE: If you are a nameless crewman, you won't be beaming back up, laddie.
spirit_55z
Boooyah! Admiral. "I've given it all I got captain" LOL!
I think he will... Colin has been shown to have good sense Hell he had the good sense to leave the Bush Administration. I think this makes him feel less obligated to tow the party line. I guess we'll see...
Below is a letter sent by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), chair of the House judiciary committee, to Attorney General Michael Mukasey and FBI director Robert Mueller, in reaction to the news that the FBI has launched an investigation into ACORN in connection with its voter-registration activities.
In raising questions about DOJ's motives, Conyers makes the obvious link to the U.S. attorneys scandal, in which several U.S. attorneys were fired for not pursuing voter fraud cases with sufficient aggressiveness. And he makes the point that John McCain had raised the ACORN issue in last night's debate.
Here's the letter:
Dear Mr. Attorney General and Director Mueller:
It is with shock and disappointment that I read today's Associated Press report that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has opened and leaked an investigation into whether ACORN, a longstanding and well regarded organization that fights for the poor and working class, is involved in nationwide voter fraud.
SKIP A LOT:
Accordingly, I condemn the leak of this sensitive information and remind you both of your and your agencies' obligations to handle election-related matters in an appropriate and non-political matter as the election season proceeds. In addition, please let me know no later than Thursday, October 23, 2008, if the release of information and all other actions taken regarding this investigation are consistent with the US Attorneys Manual and the Election Crimes Manual and, if not, what action has been taken in response. Please direct your response to the Judiciary Committee Office at XXXXXXXX (tel: XXXXXXXXXX, fax: XXXXXXXXXX).
Sincerely,
John Conyers, Jr.

But you know what, GLH? After all the lies, smears, robo-calls, race baiting, inciting, kitchen sink throwing, threats, falsehoods & falsifications & now misuse of government authorities, McCain IS STILL GOING TO LOSE!!!! He is going to have to learn it like Billary. Don't go away mad, just go away.
Since we know for a fact that McLoser planted "Joe" the nazi skin head wannabe plummer, we can suspect that if there was any voter fraud committed by any ACORN "member," they might be plants too, for the purpose of creating a sandstorm while the repubs continue to try to steal an election they obviously can't win fairly. Investigate that!

(Newser) – Rep. John Murtha apologized for saying yesterday that “racist” western Pennsylvanians wouldn’t vote for Barack Obama, CNN reports. “While we cannot deny that race is a factor in this election, I believe we've been able to look beyond race these past few months,” the Democrat said today in a statement. “I believe he will win both Pennsylvania and the White House.”

Heck! I didn't have time to post his ORIGINAL statement B4 he turns around the NEXT DAY to do a FAUX -APOLOGY!
Whew! What a rapid CONVERSION!! :>):>) He done SEEN DA LIGHT!! Hallelujer!! :>)
(Newser) – Over the past three weeks, Northern Virginia TV viewers have seen 1,342 commercials from Barack Obama … and eight from John McCain. Obama is dominating the airwaves, Politico reports, outspending McCain and the Republican National Committee as much as 8-1 in some markets, blunting GOP attacks with a sustained presence. “McCain is virtually invisible in the commercial breaks,” said one station executive.
McCain is running almost entirely attack ads, but Obama has been able to match his spending on negative spots, and use his remaining cash for positive ones. “He’s able to be both the good cop and the bad cop,” said one analyst. Pennsylvania is one state where McCain’s keeping up, with each campaign dropping $16.5 million there since June.

Is it, finnaly, time to dust off that PRESIDENTIAL SEAL that Mr. Obama used at one of his meetings?? :>) :>)

OR - maybe they feel the need to look as if they are supporting McAncient since many Repugs have "JOINED THE RAT PACK" and JUMPED [scurried off] SHIP!! :>)
(Newser) – It’s been a fun time for liberals, writes Rosa Brooks in the LA Times. Though initially worried about the boost Sarah Palin gave to John McCain’s polling numbers, Dems were then treated to the defections of some of the GOP’s brightest thinkers. Columnists David Brooks, Charles Krauthammer, and former Bush speechwriter David Frum all backed away from McCain, charging that the Alaska governor was out of her league.
Then conservative dissatisfaction boiled over—Christopher Hitchens, former National Review editor Wick Allison, and even Christopher Buckley, heir to the conservative legacy of William F., actually endorsed Obama. But wait, these intelligent defectors were the reason Brooks respected, if disagreed with the GOP, and their absence means the party is fully in the grips of “rage-driven, xenophobic nuts”—and that’s a scary thought.

From DailyKos:
ND-Pres: Another poll shows Obama lead by kos Thu Oct 16, 2008 at 12:20:09 PM PDT
DFM Research for the North Dakota United Transportation Union. 10/13-14. Adults. MoE 4.4% (No trend lines)
McCain (R) 41 Obama (D) 44
Two quick points -- there's no need for a voter registration screen in North Dakota because the state does not have any voter registration. Anyone over the age of 18 can vote as long as they've lived in their precinct for 30 days. So a poll of "adults" is equivalent to a poll of "registered voters". But that's all it is, there were no "likely voter" screens applied.
We've got a poll in the field right now, so hopefully we can be the third poll in a row showing a neck-and-neck (or better) race in the state.
The Obama campaign is hitting back at McCain over the two McCain robocalls we've reported on here today and yesterday, one saying that Obama put "Hollywood above America," and the other saying that Obama and Dems "aren't who you think they are."
Asked for comment on the calls, Obama spokesperson Tommy Vietor sends over this statement:
"John McCain's campaign has admitted that the economy is a losing issue for them, so he's chosen to launch dishonorable and dishonest attacks like this. John McCain can't defend the fact that he's voted with George Bush's disastrous policies 90% of the time and will continue the same Bush-McCain economic policies American families can't afford."
Not a single reader has reported any Obama robocalls.
By contrast, we have unconfirmed reader reports that the "Hollywood above America" call has reached seven states -- North Carolina, Missouri, Wisconsin, Colorado, Pennsylvania. Minnesota, Virginia, and Ohio. That suggests a major campaign is underway. More as we learn it.
I have received these call. I have not picked up my telephone because I didn't recognize the number. These call did NOT leave a message and they are coming from distant AREA CODES!
PLEASE BE ALERT to this DESPICABLE CAMPAIGN technique!!
And he smiled in Mr. Obama's face tonight! SSSSSSSSSSSSnake!!! Do NOT TRUST!!
At this point, any half-aware voter knows that ACORN doesn't refer to "a single-seeded, thick-walled nut" (as per the American Heritage dictionary).
And the McCain campaign is making sure of that by repeatedly amping up the rhetoric linking the group, currently being investigated by the FBI, to Barack Obama.
(Despite McCain's own past support for the group, as evidenced by his attendance at an ACORN-hosted rally in 2006.)
SKIP
Today, the group fired back by releasing a report, "ACORN vs. McCain: The Real Story of the Financial Crisis 1999 to 2008," attacking McCain for his lack of warnings about the impending subprime mortgage crisis last year.
Austin King, the director of the ACORN Financial Justice Center, writes:
In casting blame on ACORN, Senator McCain demonstrated a true misunderstanding of the cause of the financial crisis and in so doing belied the notion that he is qualified to solve it. Indeed, in looking at the totality of their work, the only available conclusion is that ACORN fought with all its might for a decade to prevent this crisis while Senator McCain sat on the sidelines and cheered on the deregulation of the financial services industry that paved the way for the nation's economic collapse.
SKIP
Comparing the records of both ACORN and Senator John McCain, the only available conclusion is that in the decade leading up to the financial crisis America faces today, ACORN fought with all its might against the predatory lending practices and resulting foreclosures that triggered the crisis, while Senator McCain took no actions to stem the crisis while voting for deregulation.

rikyrah: "Mr. President "on OUR COUNTRY'S flag! How appropriate! :>)
Standing in line to cast his ballot for Barack Obama, Andrew Young was told to wait outside until he was called. And for a moment, he froze.
Years ago, in the Jim Crow South, Young spent his youth teaching blacks how to read and write so they could pass frivolous literacy tests meant to keep them from voting. The innocent instructions of an elections clerk on Thursday set off a flashback.
“It almost felt like that was Selma again,” and his days alongside the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on the front lines of the struggle for voting and civil rights for black Americans, Young said.
“When you’d go to register in Selma, they’d tell you that you couldn’t come into the courthouse, to stand in line,” he said. “And they’d just let you stand outside all day long.”
For Young, the moment passed quickly this time. As his name was called, Young walked stiffly toward the voting machines, waving and shaking hands with others waiting in line, their eyes twinkling with recognition and pride. As he approached the machine, a poll worker whispered, “Who is that?”
It’s Andrew Young, he was told. The worker grinned and nodded. “That’s great,” he said, recognizing the name of the civil rights movement veteran who went on to Congress, the United Nations and the mayor’s office in City Hall.
SKIP
“He’s trying to unite the American people,” Young said. “It’s strength and vision that I’m looking for. Barack Obama is demonstrating that.”
O.K. I'm posting this with serious reservations. This man had been a "HATA" from jump! And I really don't think that things have changed that much! BUT, we'll count the VOTE! That's all.
Yeah I heard that. The sad part is Tina Fey probably plays a better her than she does. LOL
