i agree. but i've found many of the endorsements to read that way…lukewarm and hesitant. “inchoate” and “diffident” stood out to me too… i no like! lol.

Frankly, I found this read a bit like a backhanded complement: Barack is “diffident” and “vague” but John McCain is worse. I kept expecting them to pull off a New Yorker-type reversal of these words and show how both of those are so very necessary in these times — how about “diffident” = “thoughtful” and “vague” = “pragmatic rather than sound-bite ideological” — but they never went there.

Oh well, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
