It would also show their bigotry if they admit “I won't vote for him because he's Black.”
Deep down inside, whites know the insidiousness of racism and they also know it's wrong to judge a person by the color of their skin; but they are so ingrained that they do it anyway. It's like the KKK – if you're proud of being a bigot, why hide behind the hood and robe? Show yourself!
