Matthews can bug the hell out of me, but he's authentic and has some heart. I think the sentiment he expressed is very real, and I think he spoke for plenty of people. I think his suggestion to Obama to appeal to white men as providers, while having some real sexist undertones, was a damned good one.

This time, Chris Matthews has demonstrated the courage to say what so many have been unable or unwilling to say. What more must Barack Obama accomplish, become, or represent in order to be considered worthy or acceptable as a presidential candidate? How much longer will Republicans scrounge around looking for another phoney excuse not to vote for a person of color?

The Republican Party repeatedly claims a monopoly on "traditional American values." It clings to outdated and narrowing views of what it means to be a "real American." It alienates those outside it's narrow views, labeling them "unAmerican" or "anti-American." Little wonder the GOP has been reduced to the party of rich old white men, their "arm candy," and low information voters.

Those who cannot learn to adapt to change and embrace diversity are doomed to self-destruction. In 2008, we are watching it happen day by day, hour by hour, minute, by minute.

Those who feel they hold the monopoly on "real America" have used every trick, every tactic to vilify and discredit Obama. In doing so, they have proven to the world that the "righteous right" are willing to sacrifice their integrity, honor, and honor to advance their blind ambitions. Now, they find themselves depleated, disorganized, disillusioned, demoralized, and desperate.

While the Republicans are stalled on the tracks, change is coming like a freight train. That is the message we will send on November 4th. Republicans will be foreced to reexamine, reassess, reorganize, and readjust in order to become relevent to the future of America.

This same exact unjust situation was happening in our Southern States when poor and mostly uneducated Black Americans were being falsely imprisoned for endless decades without the needed educational skills to properly submit their own written federal trial appeals.

This devious and deceptive judicial process of making our poor and innocent prison inmates formulate and write their own federal appeal legal cases for possible retrials on their state criminal cases,is still in effect today even though everyone in our US judicial system knows that without proper legal representation, these tens of thousands of innocent prison inmates will be denied their rightful opportunities of ever being granted new trials from our federal appeal judges!!

Sadly, the true US *legal* Federal Appeal situation that occurs when any of our uneducated American prison inmates are forced to attempt to submit their own written Federal Appeals (from our prisons nationwide) without the assistance of proper legal counsel, is that they all are in reality being denied their legitimate rights for Habeas Corpus with our US FEDERAL COURTS and will win any future Supreme Court Case concerning this injustice!

Quiet storms. When Barack introduced that language back in Wisconsin after one of the hurricanes swept on through the Gulf Coast, I applauded the poet in him. I sometimes forget just how much of a poet he is. He will always return to a metaphor at just the right time. And that's what I saw last night as well. His entire campaign has been one long epic poem and if the criminals don't succeed with their theft efforts, he will be our next poet in chief.

I saw Matthews go on this rant after the Obama infomercial. I appreciated his comments. They hit home to many in America as they come from a white guy. However, I worry about a broadcaster showing too much partisanship on either side. Obviously, I enjoy it more when it is pro-Obama than I do on Fox News when it is anti-Obama ... but, either way ... I think I prefer for the guests on Hardball to make the news and commentary ... and for Matthews to just ask the tough questions...

I agree with you about broadcasters reporting the news as it is, in a non biased way. Last night, Tweety was on Keith Olberman's show to give his response as a commentator. My whole house was like "Go 'head Tweety!!" Of course, when he's on Hardball....ask the questions. But in the case of his response last night, it wasn't from an "anchor's desk" so, it was cool.

Actually, social commentary such as this isn't partisan at all. It's American. It's what journalists ought to do in the face of some of the bullshit coming out of McCain's campaign.

Matthews will probably piss me off later today when he softballs one of the racist politicians he has on his show, but we must give credit where it's due.

It pisses me off that Obama has to jump through all of these hoops to prove that he's "worthy" of holding the highest office in the land, while a lifelong screw up who has gotten over because of his money, his parentage and his white skin doesn't have to answer for anything!

Matthews has been on an "I'm tired of this bs" roll. Not that I'm a fan of his but I've always thought he was capable and inclined to make fair points with some type of appreciable regularity.

This one here may be his finest (though I'm kinda partial to his pimp slap of Bachman).

I think Matthews point strikes at the bogus "he's not like us" whispers which we all know are the typical "Black people aren't like us" attitudes. Matthews point (which I do have a problem with) exposes fraud behind all the paternalistic preaching too many White folk assume is their birthright when it comes to Black people.

Damn, who was that who said White folks think of Black people as children...?

Anyway, Matthews questions highlight that it never was an issue of Black people doing the X and Y he talked about just as all the talk about "personal responsibility" is a fraudulent proposition (essentially the same proposition) also.

It's also nice to see the "What more do you want?" question turned around and addressed to White people who often ask Black people "what more do you want?" when we've fought for basic human and civil rights like that was "asking" for too much.

But here's another story out of what the right's billing as a slick marketing tool . . . my friend Crixi, who has not been a wholehearted Obama supporter, wrote this just this morning . . .

We watched sitting at the kitchen table. On the same day that the doctor told me I may need more surgery on the same day that Aetna denied coverage for more chemo and told me my co-pay would be over $4,000.00. And I watched that man on TV and I cried because despite the circumstances of my health, our finances and utter wreckage of the Bush years he provides hope.

Thats enough. Just give me hope.


Crixi has been fighting AIDS since the early '90s. He was on the verge of dying when he met Bill Clinton at a rally and Clinton promised that he would help. He did. My friend's still alive as a result of research which resulted in major advances in treatment of AIDS in the '90s.

I am convinced that others across this country were as moved as I was, as moved as Crixi was. We can do this thing and we can ~ just as my candidate says ~ change this country and the world.

See, that's what the cynics don't get....there were millions of people just like your friend sitting in their family rooms watching Obama last night. They're all going through their "quiet storms". And I KNOW it touched them. Those are the people Obama was talking to.
