Val: From reading the TONE of the mother's statements, as a teacher IMHO, I would think that she has had LITTLE to NO control over this boy for a few years!!

Secondly, her TONE/statements [I'm a farmer, or something like that] indicates her simplicity. So all this "city stuff" is WAAAY beyond her at this time. So she just let her son go to be "raised", now, by the Gov."s family.

He will receive a "diploma" from some independent study program. And I'll bet they will fund, beside his life--as long as he stays with the daughter, a modicum of a college/post-secondary educational program. He will be HOOKED UP!! No doubt!! :>) :>)

Contrast all of this with the video by the late Tupac which was posted yesterday!! Hmmmm. SAD BUT TRUE was my reaction! :>(

To your point on Education: The senario of these young people would NOT encourage her to significantly effect an EDUCATION agenda, IMHO. 'cause she would NOT encourage/doesn't believe in SEX EDUCATION!!! And, those 2 . . . . Welllllll! -SIGH- :>)

I have not seen any official statements released, but I thought I heard one of the female reporters (might have been Mitchell, or O'Donnell) who said she spoke with Reid. He said to quote him as being “very disappointed”. Afterwards, someone remarked “there goes his chairmanship”.

I think the Democrats, understandably, don't want to appear vindictive during the middle of an election cycle by kicking Liarman out of the caucus. That said, while it's accurate to note the Democrats hold a slim majority in the Senate, there wouldn't be a change of power if Harry Reid decided to kick him out tomorrow. At the start of the Congressional session, the Senate passed an organizing resolution, which gives Democrats control of the Senate and committee chairmanships until the beginning of the 111th Congress.

But I think it's pretty clear that ol' Joe-mentum knows he's going to be kicked out of the caucus in the new session, so he went for broke last night.

Without Lieberman counting himself as a Democrat...then the GOP would get to determine who the chairs of committees are in the Senate.

That's why!

No Lieberman...no Leahy as chair of Judiciary, no Robert Byrd as head of appropriations, no Biden as chair of Foreign Relations, no Levin as head of Armed Forces, no Kennedy as chair of Health, no Dodd as head of Banking, no Feinstein as head of Rules, no inouye as chair of Finance.

Power in the Senate is based on who the chairs are, they set the agenda and determine what bills make it to the floor, and what is killed in committee.

Now, based on that list do you understand why no one is speaking up for Obama?

Do you understand why it took so much balls for Obama to have cornered Lieberman in the back of the Senate the day after he clinched the nomination?

Power is never relinquished...you have to take it ...and the Democrats have no way of taking that power in the Senate without Lieberman!!

I think Joe Lieberman is toast. Reid has already said that he's tired of him, and after last night, it's over.

According to Wikipedia:

The party balance for the Senate now stands at 51-49 in favor of the Democrats (including independent Bernie Sanders and Independent Democrat Joe Lieberman, who caucus with the Democrats).

The Democrats need Lieberman not to become a Republican, which is what would happen if they pushed him out, because they would lose the slim Democratic majority in the Senate. That means that the entire leadership of all the committees would change and the Republicans would be able to set the agenda.

Only after November when Democrats increase their majority will they be able to deal with Lieberman.
