“Some Republicans also favor restrictions on executive pay for banks taking part in the bailout. The Treasury fears this could undermine banks' willingness to take part.”

so true. thanks for pointing this out. everybody needs to be screaming that this is not our money. it our kids' money. the debt burden is massive. if we're going to ask the chinese for a $700B loan, we better damn sure make it goes toward something useful and sustainable.

Jill: -IMHO, that would be $700B + ALL the $$ we "LOST" on this war: Estimate: $10M per month X 12 months X 5.5 years = $660M

But all this calculating is "way above my pay grade!" :>)

We don't have $700B to be playing around with. Its nice and dandy that the government wants to fix their boo boo with “tax payer dollars” but we are going to BORROW the money.

For all they know, China can come at us and demand the first born of every tax paying family as debt repayment. (a bit dramatic, I know)
