Rikyrah, Congress members have decided it's better to abdicate their responsibility as lawmakers rather than actually engage in checks and balances and put Bush and the Executive Branch in CHECK.

Lack of oversight means no one to blame when the dust clears and the bullshyt settles.

If the Congressional Members quit hiring wet behind the ears sons and daughters of their donors, they would get educated, mature staffers with the expertise to decipher terms and conditions of banking contracts, and anything else related to the congressional committees the members serve on.

The CBC is really bad when it comes to some of their staffers - they really hire based on quality of "nookie" as opposed to whether or not that 24-year-old Chief of Staff can actually read and comprehend proposed legislation to the extent they can adequately brief their boss so their boss is not always caught with the "deer-in-headlights" look when they get asked about it like John Conyers got asked if he'd actually read the Patriot Act before he voted on it in "Fahrenheit 9/11".

I still cringe at that memory.
I smell another land grab on the part of the Federal Government.

Think about it. Galveston is beach area, and that means beachfront property that if not inhabitable for the original owners (read: Blacks and Latinos), that property will be taken over by HUD and the next thing you will see is Galveston turning into a Gated, Exclusive, Beachfront Community and the Blacks and Latinos living there get pushed to Houston's Fifth Ward.

Katrina and New Orleans all over again, only its Hurricane Ike and Galveston.

What is going to get crazier with this is...

The Insurance losses after Ike in the Galveston area. They are now reporting 75% of the Homes there were destroyed or rendered "uninhabitable".

Who ... Exactly...

Is going to eat that $50 billion disaster?

Especially after Hurricane Paulson gets a chance to rape the taxpayers to save his crooked buddies $50 million Golden Parachutes.
