Joe lies almost as much as John Kerry. Oh wait , Aren't they buds. If your gonna support a candidate, pick one with the intestinal fortitude to explain his voting record reguardless of the outcome. Joe did not. He lied about it to look good in the debate and because that's not the O'Bama platform.

Washington needs an outsider to step in and shake things up. There are quite a few of the beltway bunch, that in my opinion, could use a good old fashioned Paddling on the hind end, like granny used to give out back in the day.

I still have at least some faith that the Republi-cons will be defeated in November and that the U.S. can get its act together. (domestically and internationally…although the international front will be a little harder due to Obama's misguided foreign policy – or based on what little policy goals he has telegraphed so far). I will wait and see what he does once in office, although i'll remain skeptical about his foreign policy.

But I think this might be the last chance for the Dems if they want to remain a strong viable Party.

There is no way that this election should be close…but it is, because of the racial dynamics involved. It is something that I expected. But Obama has a real chance to pull it off… I check election data twice a day (i'm a junkie) and Obama is making big gains in the West… He is establishing what could be a nice insurance policy in case he doesn't win Ohio, Florida, Virginia, or Missouri. If he wins one of the four, he will win the election for sure.

But I still share Independent2008's frustration. Republicans have an easy time fooling gullible American voters, over and over again.

When the McCain camp mentioned that this election was not about issues, but about personalities and how voters relate to the candidates…. this is what I stated two months ago, in the post “Obama's Fading Hope: America May Be Too Sick To Elect A Black Man for President”. I knew that this would be their strategy.

Unfortunately, the McCain staffer was right. For many voters… it's not about issues. McCain's people understand that and will attempt to exploit it. But I think this time… there are more issues driven voters than usual…and that might tip the balance in Obama's favor. (But I won't bet my rent money on that just yet). If Obama is still looking strong by October… then he will have a shot. But keep your eyes on the West… He may not need it… (Because all indications show that he should win at least one of those 4 big swing States & that may decide it all)…but the West could end up being his backstop.

Also… can't completely count out Indiana. There may be a couple of shockers in this election that the pundits won't be able to explain.

Things could also go the other way too… Obama (due to his race) could fall victim to a condition among voters called Bradley-Effect-itis… an extreme form of the Bradley Effect….where they tell pollsters one thing so they won't feel uncomfortable, but they do something different in the privacy of the voting booth.

Only time will tell.

I think you are dead wrong about Obama, the same way I think Tom Brokaw is wrong for making a blanket statement about Obama supporters. We don't think that he s shoo in to the WH, we know and I'm sure he knows this is not a walk-in-the-park. One thing we know about Obama, he is no fool. He knows this is going to close. He knows, even if he denies it, that this race is now being based on personalities and not substance. He believes, as we believe, that maybe, just maybe, the American people as a whole will not fall for this type of sculdulggery and do the right thing, and vote the bums out.

That is one of my biggest concerns about the election. Since the next Pres. will likely be nominating two or three SCOTUS nominees. I can only imagine who bad things are going to become if that happens, I wish I can here more these issues addressed on the campaign trail.

There will be serious vetting of Cabinet nominees and SCOTUS nominees. No one will sail without hard grilling.

Most of all, McCain/Palin will be hamstrung from the jump and McCain might be stepping down after one term because he will be too ancient for his nerves to hold up. And Palin will get run out on a rail because she will be in ethic violations to her eyeglasses. I see her like Spiro T. Agnew – hell, she might get the boot before McCain does; should they steal the election.

There are other things at stake beyond getting Obama elected. I'm more concerned about Congress because it will take Congress to keep wingnuts in check and restore the balance of power like the Founding Fathers intended.

I prefer to break out the cans of whip-ass, but like roaches with Black Flag, they keep coming back.

So, I will be here armed with the INDUSTRIAL strength can of Whip-Ass.

Should the ReThugs manage to steal this election, it will be official: THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES will have invaded Washington, DC, and we will actually hear about the first instance of domestic abuse actually occurring in the residency of the Vice-President. Levi is either going to cheat on Bristol, beat her up because every time he sees her, he's going to remember “shotgun” wedding and loss of his freedom to “hang out with his boys and shoot shyt”.

Or, we're going to see Sarah Palin wearing turtlenecks and long sleeves in the middle of June because she's covering up bruises, black eyes and missing teeth from catching a beating from that fisherman hubby of hers.

Trig and his nephew are going to fight when they ask the same girl to the sweetheart dance at Sidwell Friends School.

And the hits will keep coming if this version of the Bunkers get the White House.

It's ok, they're getting married, so everything's ok. NO!!!

If you're not ready to be a parent at 17, how can you be ready for a marriage?? How can they handle a baby AND a marriage, at 17???
