RNC08: Roland Martin Needs His Own Show

Ok, so we’ve already got Rachel Maddow’s new show debuting next week (can’t wait for that!). But, in the spirit of diversifying the media, I’d like to see CNN wise up and finally give Roland Martin his own show on prime timecable news. Just imagine how much better cable news would be with Olbermann, Maddow and Roland Martin on the scene.

The brotha has been holding it down this entire campaign. Take a look at his interview with The Young Turks at the RNC Convention. Whether you agree with him or not, he gives a lot of food-for-thought. . .

Oh, he's good.
There's NO WAY they're letting their daughters carry a pregnancy from a rape. Think of the race issue also. Would Sarah let her daughter carry the baby of a black, or hispanic rapist? Would Sarah let her 12 year old daughter carry the pregnancy of her father or other male relative?
It's good that people are talking about this subject and distilling how the feel about it. It's one think to give lip service to these ideas, but see if you can bear to live by these religious laws.
I hope Obama doesn't allow McCain to get away without hammering him on the economy. It will be funny to see Biden being the feminist crusader in debates. He'll have to shine in foreign policy too. Obama will have to be strong and confident on foreign policy and not back down from McCain.
Dem. Surrogates pointed out today, that Palin gets health care on the public dime. Palin will not have to foot the bills for her daughter's pre-natal care, and delivery at least. Yet, Palin and Republicans don't support universal health care for all women….while they herald this impending birth as a wonderful thing. It wouldn't be a happy occasion if they were dirt poor with no health care.
I think there's room for Obama's campaign to highlight this hypocrisy from the standpoint of policy.

Great job by Roland. He needs to connect the dots more between Palin and teen pregnancy. Her kid is not the issue as much as her public policy stance. THAT is why she is not getting off the hook. Palin wants to decide for other families what choices they have. That is the reason the issue is not private. She has the power to make public policy and as a public official we have the right to question, probe and investigate her stances on issues that affect our families and our lives.
Palin as Governor cut funding for a program that provided shelter for pregnant teens! That is the type of power she has. Her line item veto impacts millions of other teens, women and families.
I like that Roland brought up the pre-marital sex 'sin' for those evangelicals to address. However, he also has to take it to public policy positions of Palin.
He also needs to call this baby momma and baby daddy. If Fox news can label Michelle Obama a baby momma after being married for over 16 years then we damn sure need to apply those derogatory terms when they DO apply!!

what these right to lifers say about carrying these rapists babies to term is that there are families out there just dying to adopt a child. So, that would also answer their 'black' rapist problem as well.
Roland needs to ask about INCEST…Palin is not just pro-rapist she is pro-incest as well…only if the life of the mother is at risk is she willing to make abortion legal.
So, someone needs to ask her about fathers impregnating their daughters, brothers impregnating their sisters!

In 2006 there were 92,455 rapes. What percentage of those would end in conception in Palin's utopia? Who would pay for health care for those mothers and babies? Who will pay for child support? There are children in foster care currently who can't find homes. Should society have an influx of children born from rape entering the foster care system?
This is what happens when religious extremists meddle in affairs of the state. They don't think things through…it's their way, or the highway. If support is provided to women in the form of health care, education etc…then maybe more pregnancies won't be “unwanted”. But Repubs don't believe in that.

It continues to boggle the mind with the numerous double standards. This latest revelation about Palin's daughter's pregnancy is statutory rape in most states (Remember the young interracial couple in Georgia who had consensual sex and it put the young man behind bars?). Palin's daughter's lover is 18 and is no where near a jail for having sex with a minor. This couple is cannonized and the interracial couple was condemned. I'm really tired of “some” folks who just justify whatever they want and demonize any and all who disagree with their sometimes distorted views.
