YAY!!! This makes me really happy! It was so damaging for the media to debate the idea that Hispanics will never vote for Obama because he's Black. I hate all this speculation about why the polls are the way they are. They are just guessing and when you say one group will not vote for Obama because they are racists that is really disgusting and obviously untrue. They made me think that Hispanic and Latino people hated Black people. Some probably do, but the media made it seem like some sort of widespread tradition!

What have I been telling you, mi hermanos y hermanas? It is true that we are overcoming the divide and conquer mentality foisted upon us by power wanting to retain that power. Our struggles are different in small ways only. There are many stories of "legal" Americans who have no documents on them, or are suspected of having false documents that they are being retained or worse deported. This story is particularly sad.

http://articles.latimes.com/2007/jun/12/local/m...

In Seattle last month over forty grassroots communities joined together from Latino, to Pacific Islander, to Somali to Russian and pledged to support Obama and do what they could to get the votes out and cast..

These last eight years I have read stories of Mexicans left in semi truck trailers by the side of the road only to die. I have seen little outrage and have felt scared for humans who are following an urge of the species- to go where they can find food and greener pastures. To provide a better life for themselves and loved ones. We have always been migratory.

Go Obama

This is potentially very damaging! I can see the ads right now!

Palin with a I support the bridge to nowhere T shirt!

She basicly lied to the American people in that introduction speech when she said she was against it.
It's kind of like the Obama/ Hillary voters discussion. From the most recent Gallup poll:

The Democratic convention appears to have helped solidify support for Barack Obama among former Hillary Clinton supporters, with the percent saying they will vote for Obama in November moving from 70% pre-convention to 81% after the convention, and the percent certain to vote for Obama jumping from 47% to 65%.

That is great news. The pundits tried to say that he didn't get a bounce from the Convention but I seriously doubt that is true. The McCain/Palin ticket is not as strong as the Republicans are trying to say. My bet is that Barack Obama will prevail in the Fall. There is too much as stake and people are just fed up with the GOP. Did you guys see President Bush, the father, looking at his watch again during a presidential campaign? It clearly shows where his mind is, once again.

Check out http://blackpoliticalthought.blogspot.com.

That's wonderful news! Let's just hope that Obama continues to gain on McCain in the Latino vote. It could come down to some anti-immigrant rhetoric in the next two months or a gaffe by James Dobson in a dress since she probably doesn't know what brown people look like.

It's actually not too surprising since it's the conservatives who are driving the immigrant hatred, and when white Americans think immigrant they think Mexican first and other Latinos second. Even for those who are many generation American citizens will be racially profiled and hated just for being Latino, and they know it's the conservatives/republicans who are doing this othering and encouraging hate and discrimination against them and their families.
