in all seriousness, i think people are making a HUGE mistake by underestimating palin. if she's spent all her time away from the press prepping for this debate, she could actually come out swinging and impress everyone all over AGAIN. i hope biden is taking this seriously because the last thing we need is a palin enthusiasm resurgence.

also, during the last vp debate, gwen asked about aids and black women. biden better have a good answer if she decides to ask the question again or that's going to look messed up, especially if palin has an answer.

Palin will probably think Gwen Ifill means black women have personal aides.

It is the Republican playbook of contrast those liberal elites vs the regular American. Sarah Palin is one of those 'average Americans" who Republicans pander to all the time. People who cannot compete in the 21st century. She is a member of Nixon's "silent majority": White, angry, Christian fascists who abhor the world because they cannot tolerate or compete in it. She fires up the base because McCain needs them to vote. Remember, they are the ones who gave Goerge W his victory.

I wish I could figure out the angle that Karl Rove and the "Neo Cons" are going for on this one. Everyone involved with picking Gov. Palin new her shortcomings, but there is some underlying scheme going on and I have yet to figure it out. This did not just happen by accident, she was chosen for a reason.

Can anyone tell me what the psycho dynamics are, behind the Sarah Palin pick? Was it only to incite the base? That does not sound like a full plan. Unless they think that SOME white Americans, really were looking for someone to champion their fears.

My theory is that Palin was picked precisely because of her shortcomings. The Neo-cons need somebody to carry out their agenda, and Miss Sarah is the perfect patsy because she's too ignorant to know any better. So early in a McCain presidency, look for him to suddenly become incapacitated or pass away. Palin becomes prez and does the bidding of Cheney, Wolofwitz and company. Win-win situation for the Neo-cons.

Someone likened the pick of Palin to the campaign Coca-Cola ran a few years ago when they switched up their formula for Coke and marketed the switch to the public.

The public let them know in no uncertain terms that they wanted "Original" Coke back.

Maybe Palin is "New Coke" and they can pave the way to put a real Neo-Con in there in her place. In that way, they will have tried the diversity approach and have an excuse to get rid of her without pissing off the women in their base.

To my way of thinking, the GOP women should have been pissed the moment she was announced as McCaint's running partner - especially after all the more qualified women in the GOP McCain could have chosen and still made his point - whatever THAT POINT was.

A second ago on CNN, they showed Joe dropping a bombshell that McCain want to raise taxes on the middle class through taxing health benefits. He said if you earn 50 thou and you have 12 thou in health benefits, you'll move into the 62 thou tax bracket and pay taxes on 62 thou.... essentially paying taxes on an extra 12 thou that you will never see in cash. It is explosive.

Yet after the clip, the two anchors....Malveaux and Bash were chit chatting about Palin's one liners and sexism and all kinds of crap. Malveaux, I find a little ditzy. Bash did keep looking at the monitor like she knew this was explosive, but neither woman said anything in the commentary.

I've heard Ali Velshi say in the fact checks that Barack want to lower taxes on the middle class, and McCain wants to lower taxes on "everybody".

We need to get the word out to CNN to fact check the McCain policy of taxing health benefits. I'm writing a letter and sending it to all the shows.

Cafferty is the only reason I watch Wolf and the so-called Situation Room. BTW, I thought Obama did very well last night and will do even better when the main subject is on domestic issues.

Here's another thought: People are so quick to dismiss the liberal left. Like we are chomping at the bit because she is the opposition and only because of that. The GOP tried to change the discussion by saying that we are just being sexist- forgetting that we were the Party that gave Hillary Clinton 18 million votes to be run as President. The reality is we saw quickly and early that she was UNFIT to VPOTUS and with a 72 year old candidate (hope he has longevity and will be able to serve as a Senator a lot longer,) it is a real possibility that he can die (age, melanoma, being struck by lightening for all his lies....) so it is crucial that the VPOTUS MUST be able to serve. How dare anyone think that her level of understanding and lack of experience qualifies her.

GLH, one can buy a degree off the internet, or she could have her 2nd daughter make one with a photoshop program. Neither Bill Gates nor Ted Turner actually graduated from college, and when my brother hit Wall street in the 80's there were many very rich, old, white brokers/industry leaders who did not have degrees and who were not impressed by those coming in with their Ivy League MBA's. What is my point? The degree doesn't make the person,but if one bothers to get a degree, the public should be able to presume that it is because the person has achieved a certain skill level.

(Putting on Kitty's tin foil hat) This could be some Karl Rovian/Dick Cheneyian subterfuge. No one would be surprised at all if anything alluding to this was leaked. They probably even promised to throw in a double wide for Bristol & Levi. It's easy to imagine them selling it to her as her national duty because God Almighty has ordained us to defeat Islam. I'm with Nquest on this one: Wolf's attempted rationalizations or attempt to blunt the harshness of Jack's blow were intellectually dishonest and semi-unprofessional. If he is going to give Jack a place on his show for Jack's punditry then let him have his say and don't try to muzzle him. Wolf and Crowley spend so much time trying to LOOK objective, as compared to actually BEING objective, that they just end up looking AND being intellectually dishonest.

Palin IS a damn trainwreck - why can't Jack say that and let it stand without clarification, excuse or rationalization?

Even if the gruesome death prospect is taken out, we still have Palin on the world stage saying "don't see trade as some scary thing" or, in that same Couric interview, sticking her finger in her mouth to show the wind-test criticism of Obama. On Jack? right,CPL, he's not one to scatter blows. Refreshing. On Wolf? Women don't like women who slide into positions they don't deserve. Sarah Palin is the equivalent of a PTA president and she's trying to slide into the VP position on the back of Hillary Clinton's popularity. Women don't like it when they've had to go to school and not be taken seriously because they're women, and worker harder than a man, all to see some bimbo get chosen for such a high position all because she's marginally cute and eats mooseburgers. When they know that other GOP women have gone to school, put in the time, worked the committees, gotten the experience but were looked over because maybe they weren't as cute and perky as Sarah. Women don't like it when they know if Chelsea Clinton had gotten pregnant at 17 she would have been called all sorts of whores and trash (like Jamie Lynn Spears was called) but because Sarah's part of the in-crowd it's hands off Bristol because she's the child of the chosen one.

So I understand why women are leading the charge against Sarah Palin just like I understand why the McCain camp is keeping Cindy out of the spotlight and spinning their "love" story because when women discover that Cindy was the pill popping other woman that Johnny Mac dumped his long suffering wife for, they aren't too keen on Cindy.

And the galling thing about women like Sarah Palin is this: they actually think they have every right to be in the big leagues and they have the right to slide in on the efforts of others. The Campbell Browns and Katie Courics are looking at this chick like "If I was stupid like this, nobody ever would have hired me. I'd still be reporting the traffic or weather on the 5:30 am news."

So Palin was brought in to snatch the women's vote, but I think women will be the ones to do Palin in.

Don't forget that Hillary is a Dominionist too.

And despite her own intelligence and poltical chops. a front piece for her husband's ambition.

They see all of their hard work being nullified by Sarah Palin, via John McCain.

And the polls are verifying - McCain with his condescending attitude towards Obama could easily be applied to them, too and that's pissing them off. You may very well see a lot of white women revolt by telling their husbands "Yes, dear, I'm voting for McCain" but once they get in that voting booth and it comes out for Obama, those husbands will be crying "WTH" while their wives murmur in soothing tones with their secret that they voted for Obama instead of McCaint.

The men know who Sarah Palin is too: the bimbo receptionist who dropped that call that lost you the biggest deal of your career to date all those years ago....

and unlike us, These women KNOW the qualified GOP women. They socialize with them, they live in the same neighborhoods. those are the women, like them., but just Republican. They can relate to those women.

I've said before, it's not like the GOP female bench was EMPTY (like the Black GOP bench). They've got a nice -sized bench, of women who have paid their dues and know their shit. I'd never vote for them, but i wouldn't be insulted everytime I see them on tv like I feel with Caribou Barbie.

Apparently Jack was one of the few CNN personalities who didn't get the excuse making memo. If it wasn't Wolf trying to rationalize Palin not giving her "best answer" and trying to act like "(you have to understand) she's been cramming an awful lot..." as if it would have been acceptable for any other likely VP candidate to still be in training and not expected to pass basic interview tests... THEN it was Ed Rollins and Paul Begala talking about the McCain campaign ruined her confidence by being so afraid of letting her be herself when she addresses the media.

Yeah, like that's the sh*t they would say if Tim Pawlenty would have been the VP, let alone Romney, Huck-a-berry or Rudy!Rudy!
