The opponents and their sycophants are attempting to paint every criticism of Palin as sexist, though we know this isn't true. The MSM is also very disingenuous in the framing of the question/statement about Palin being a working mother. Its not that she's a working mother. So was Hillary and so is Michelle Obama. The problem is that she is the working mother of a 5 mon. old, down syndrome baby. It's not that she has children, its the age of the children. Palin is the one who talked about juggling a breast pump and a blackberry (there is no way she is nursing that baby). Obama's children can brush their own teeth and get alarmed if someone says or does something inappropriate to them. Most people would presume that she wants to be with a new baby. You have never seen as much weeping as when I had to turn my 2 year old baby over to day care to return to work. And there are so many who have to turn theirs over after 2 weeks let alone 2 years. Most Americans don't have any paid family leave act unless they work in a profession, and then, it's usually 2-4 weeks at the most. Many women want to be with their babies and they can't be. Many women also can't afford quality daycare or the nanny-cam to go along with the nanny.

To me, it shows her (lack of) family values. It shows why & how her daughter got pregnant. There were no gate keepers at the gate. She is too busy profiling to stay on top of the pulse of her kids. This happens to many families who have to spend a lot of time working, but it isn't voluntary for everyone. Its is voluntary for Palin. Most americans don't have choice on these issues.

The Enquirer has a story that she had an affair. Please let it be true!

B - great posts, excellent advice. I hope someone from Obama's camp is perusing your post - or someone from the DNC - that's exactly what we need to focus on. I watched a bit of the RNC tonight and the pundits are saying that Pallin brings in the youth, women and independents - I'm shaking my head. No, no way.

On a minor note.

In my people of color watch at the RNC I have counted about 8 people of color, although I think I may have counted one senior Black woman twice.

I don't get these people.

You have a billionaire from Massachussets berating the " Eastern elite". You also have the down home former governor champion anti-union, Pro-corporate i.e. no liabilities when we posion, maim or kill you, and of course those selfish greedy teachers for good measure.

How in the world does that rhetoric appeal to the working class? You mean to tell me all those " Salt of the earth" people in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio watched this and really thought Romney cares about their needs?

I can't even look at Palin. Or MSM. Even NPR is handling Palin with kid gloves. Don't they get what's at stake here? She is so vile, so wrong, so dangerous. And MSM interviewing only white mommies. And not just white moms, STUPID white moms, who don't get the issues. So wrong.

I'm a smart white feminist mom for Obama all the way. My slogan: Obama or Else!

"the Democratic Primary portrayed feminism as an exclusively white, middle-class struggle (no surprise there)".

This is the reason the democratic party is in so much trouble. Hilliary went to the very people Palin is attracting. She made it acceptable to attack Obama on race and economics and her as anti-elitist candidate while maintaining her status as one of the nomenklature. Ask yourself whom have been the most racist people you have met in the last 15 years. It is not poor working class white women it is the middle to upper middle class white women in corporate America.

Now they really have to get their act together otherwise the theocrats are going to run their lifes. As I said earlier the stake is out of Hilliary's heart so let's hear her roar.

Palin attacks Obama in convention speech

ST PAUL, Minnesota (AFP) — Republican vice presidential pick Sarah Palin on Wednesday accused Democratic nominee Barack Obama of using the theme of “change” merely as a slogan to promote his political career.

“Here's how I look at the choice Americans face in this election,” the Alaska Governor said in excerpts of her speech to the Republican National Convention.

“In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.”

Palin also defended her credentials to serve as vice president, saying she had entered grass roots local politics to improve the lives of her kids and then worked her way up the executive ladder.

“Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown, and since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves,” Palin said in the excerpts.

“I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer' except that you have actual responsibilities.”

That was another swipe at Obama, as the Democratic nominee worked as a community organizer in Chicago after law school.

Palin also lashed out at the media, which she blamed for fanning a clutch of controversies which have dogged her since Republican presumptive nominee McCain named her as his running mate last week.

“I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment and I've learned quickly, these past few days, that if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone.

“But here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion — I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country.”

This is truly amazing since she has a special needs child herself. But as I stated on another thread, the recklessness with which she treated the birth and subsequent return to work after the birth of her child, truly makes me wonder if she is comfortable
with special needs children. Perhaps that explains her need to cut these funds.

This is a great post, B, and I know many black women, myself included appreciate the sacrifices your mom made to take care of you and your sister. She raised a sharp son.

It's sad, that as usual, this so called feminist movement once again overlooks black women in the big scheme of things.

I'm still waiting on the Dems to unleash their best and brightest women to challenge Palin's proposed policies and positions.
