My bus driver used to sing sixties am radio songs during the drive. I had half days on Tuesdays and would start at one pm. I saw the news after the fact and saw how totally inadequate the word "collapse" was to describe what I saw on my tv. I was stunned but knew my doctor boss would be at work. He helped people with stress and during the previous year's earthquake said in times of crisis we stay for our patients.<br>The sky was quiet, it was strange not to have airplanes over head and it was beautiful. I remember looking out to the Olympics and trying to suck in their majestic serenity to replace the images I had seen. I got on the bus and no one was talking. We were crushed into silence and it was if we didn't speak of it, it wasn't happening. My bus driver didn't sing on the bus for the next six months. <br><br>For all of you who were there, knew people or just watched in a stunned silence at a screen at that moment we were connected.
