I have seen arguments for Obama keeping Gates based on slapping down Air Force HQ over sloppy everything, his calling for strengthening the State Dept and by doing so understands that the US has lost its Prestige by not using soft power. Given whom he currently works for …, but it is something that needs to be pursued. The Democratic bench for Armed Services is very thin, has very few people w/ combat experience and executive level experience in military matters. As much as we look forward to getting out of Iraq and the huge expenditure being there involves, Russia's action keeps security matters forefront.

The one guy I think Obama better get on the horn to is the Representative from SE Pennsylvania who was an Admiral. McCain is going to have many old guard military people out stumping for him about the dangers to the country.
