Civil Rights Activist Fannie Lou Hamer. Very few have fought to empower the Black community-politically- more than Mrs. Hamer. Through her work with the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, she broke down the barriers to make the Votings Rights Act means something in electoral politics for Black folk.

Well, I'm fighting the tears like Jackie Chan. i FEEL SO EMOTIONAL. I'm going to make the kids watch O's acceptance speech, even if I cry (which upsets them). It is history. I guess it's the fact that so many people (of the ancestoral persuasion) have paid for this moment. Little girls have been blown up in church, people have been hosed, beaten, bit by dogs, killed in cold blood….We were denied participation in this event….This is for those who fought the good fight. YOUR WORK WAS NOT IN VAIN. And even if O doesn't win, we've had the break thru as a nation. We all know that it's just a matter of time; not if, but when. We are witnessing this for our ancestors and for our children.
Let me also say that Melissa Etheridge's patriotic medly was so spiritual for me last night. It was like being in church when the music permeates your body on a cellular level and gives you the shivers. I hope I can get a tape of it. It was all that to me.

I have a coworker from Russia and I asked her the same thing. She didn't think so, but its not impossible, especially since one of Georgia's lobbyists is high up on the Crypster's campaign staff. The crypster was on the phone with Sakasvili immediately after the invasion.

I think that O could afford to pay for it without taking $ from tax payers, unlike the Cryptkeeper & the repugnant's convention.

tom brokaw is a pompous ass. i can't stand the tone of his stuck up voice. he is talking about how the stage is presumptious and imperious. well he would know. this a day after saying mccain is above criticism because he was a pow in our genocidal madness in vietnam. and brokaw is moderating a debate.
