The BIGGEST incentive we can offer to corporations is a lower tax rate.

U.S. corporate taxes are way too high and they are inhibiting American competitiveness. Corporations are sitting on literally trillions of dollars of gains locked up on their balance sheets. They’re sitting on this cash hoard because it doesn’t make sense to unlock them at the current 35 percent rate. It’s too high. Deals that look attractive on a pre-tax basis make little sense at all on an after-tax basis.

Not only would slashing the corporate rate result in making the U.S. more competitive, and attract more investment to our shores (as it has done with remarkable success in Ireland and Eastern Europe), but it would actually result in higher wages for American workers. This would help ameliorate the wage inequality problem because the tax savings would go roughly 70 percent to workers and 30 percent to shareholders.

But Obama and Democrats in general demonize corporations for wanting to (gasp) actually make money and they oppose pro-growth tax policies that would lay the foundation for US cities to compete for their business, spurring improvements in infrastructure and creating jobs.

Obama's general view of this nation is not one of optimism and exceptionalism but one of moral equivalence that places totalitarian regimes such as China and Russia on the same plane as the US. I do not ascribe to this philosophy. We are an outstanding nation because of our freedom, our confidence and our drive and our ingenuity, yet nothing in Obama's remarks convey that positive attitude.

To further illustrate my point today Obama equated Russia's invasion of Georgia with our toppling of Saddam Hussein:

“Democrat Barack Obama scolded Russia again on Wednesday for invading another country’s sovereign territory while adding a new twist: the United States, he said, should set a better example on that front, too.

The Illinois senator’s opposition to the Iraq war, which his comment clearly referenced, is well known. But this was the first time the Democratic presidential candidate has made a comparison between the U.S. invasion of Iraq and Russia’s recent military activity in Georgia.

“We’ve got to send a clear message to Russia and unify our allies,” Obama told a crowd of supporters in Virginia. “They can’t charge into other countries. Of course it helps if we are leading by example on that point.”

So our “charging into” Iraq–with dozens of allies, supported by a U.N. resolution, as a last resort after six months of build-up and negotiations, to unseat one of the cruelest dictators of modern times who had twice invaded neighboring states, was in violation of more than a dozen U.N. resolutions and was responsible for the deaths of something like two million people, who was shooting at American aircraft and had tried to assassinate a former President of the United States, in Obama's mind, was just like Russia's “charging into” Georgia, which resembles Saddam's Iraq in no respect.

Russia invaded a peaceful democracy that it wants to re-incorporate into its empire.

It was George F. Kennan, America’s ambassador to the Soviet Union, who said, 'Russia can have at its borders only enemies or vassals.' Now, Georgia has been all but dismembered. The opening phase of this crisis may soon come to a close, but it is shaping up to be merely the first chapter in a potentially long and dangerous era.

The liberal progressive mindset that Obama possess and professes: moral equivalence with our enemies and a general worldview that we are the problem is not a message voters will respond favorably to.
