It just bothers me when people are not informed about the process of reparations. Every other group that the American govt has done harm to has gotten reparations and grants specifically SET- ASIDE for that group.

A few years ago the US government had to give 1000’s of Jewish people money for some shit they said some soldiers took back in WWII. You did not see a bunch of Jewish people protesting, saying that the people that brought the lawsuit should just move on and let the past be the past.

I am bewildered at black folks that don’t read and do not understand how things work.

There are perfectly well maintained legal records documenting just who owned my great-great grand mother and great-great grandfather. My family has good genes and we live long (God willing)
Anyway, my great grandmother Hattie Newkirk just passed away in 2003; she was 103 years old and picked cotton for peanuts. My great grand father Willie Newkirk was born in 1896. This shit was not sooo long ago.
So it would not take but a quick minute to give their descendants what’s DUE. (Excuse my ebonics) Grandma Hattie aint got but two children left. Don’t worry about me, but give my grandmother and her sister what is owed to them.

And another thing, affirmative action never had a chance to do what it was set-up to do, because within a few years they expanded it to include everybody damn else. And none of the “everybody else's” picked any cotton or went through the hardships of slavery and Jim Crow.

But of course you know this…I am done.

They seem very other dimensional.

We’re talking 82-89 years of slavery, and two Wars that combined for 12 years during that time (both fought for freedom).

1) 1776 – Declaration of Independence.
2) 1775 to 1783 – War of Independence (NOTE: 8 years of War, but 7 years if at 1776. “More than 20,000 black soldiers fought on the British side”).
3) 1783 – Treaty of Paris.
4) 1861 to 1865 -Civil War (NOTE: 4 years of War).

Where is the need or reason for reparations?!? There is none. Sorry, but you statement – “even one day after independence from England” is preposterous.

The point of reparations is acknowledging that, in this country, founded on the principles of self-determination the very thought of slavery was contradictory to those ideals and to continue the practice for even one day after independence from England was unacceptable.

Slavery in other countries and in cultures isn't even important to the discussion. The United States was the first country founded with the thought that all men are created equal but it was a damn lie in practice. It was a lie at the founding and the lie continues.

That aside… notice how you've stopped trying to assert that the CBC “hasn't pushed for reparations.” You asked that question like you knew that for a fact. That or you thought you could paint that picture of the CBC trying to use the Reparations issue to hurt Barack because you thought no one would actually challenge your ignorance.
