In the democratic primary race, the media, especially CNN- Wolf Blitzer, Gloria B., Anderson Cooper, Lou Dobbs, Bill Schneider etc. …..and I won't even talk about Faux News, were always asking the question: Why can't he close the deal? Remember?
Now, their meme is: In this election which favours the democrats, why isn't he leading by double digits?
My point is: Why is it that Obama is the one to prove something? With all the advantages that Hillary had?
John McCain had a 3 month advantage while Obama was still struggling with Hillary (and still is). He claims he has more experience….which he should….being 25 years older, in Washington nearly half Barack's life and spent the last 10 years trying to be President. Why can't he close the (bleeping) deal? Gosh! I need my blood pressure tablets! (smile)

I have researched his record and while fine work, the HOPE Act, which increased Pell Grants to $5100, The Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006, The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, The “Democratic Republic of the Congo Relief, Security, and Democracy Promotion Act, and Summer Learning demonstration project simply do not compare with leading the bipartisan efforts of John McCain on major issues like the 'surge', illegal immigration, global warming, the effort to eliminate earmarks and torture.

Yes and that's the argument of many racists by trying to float that's he's unqualified. People voted for an actor to run this country and the son of a former president. They certainly weren't any more experienced than Senator Obama. He may in fact have a greater ability in the fact that he had to work for everything he's attained in life. It wasn't offered on a platter as a reward for being a gov't informant nor was it passed around like a family heirloom. So let's get real. White men have been given preferential treatment since the beginning of this country. McCain is about as terrible and typical candidate that follows that tradition. It's time for someone different.

Senator McCain votes as a moderate conservative and Senator Obama votes as an extreme or consistent liberal. If Americans are really looking for a moderate who can work in a bipartisan way to solve the nation's problems–from energy prices to international crises–McCain has the record they are looking for and Obama does not.

McCain isn't trying to woo his base. He is trying to woo moderate dems and center left swing voters.

The far right will vote AGAINST Obama, not for McCain.

Rush Limbaugh was nearly apoplectic today because of the response Obama gave to a 7-year old girl. McCain doesn't need to focus on the base, he can count on Rush et al to keep the base riled up against the 'radical' Obama.

I would like to see Senator Obama possess a record of sponsoring/being instrumental in passing major legislation of national importance.
He will have served in the Senate for less than four years and in elected office for little more than a decade but has yet to 'leave his mark' in a significant way.

OR

I would like to see Obama have some administrative experience in either the public or private sector, outside of his presidential campaign.

I would like to see Obama prepared to submit himself to rigorous tough questioning from the press or in a town hall style debate. I want to see him 'unscripted' as much as possible, not to look for a 'gotcha' moment, but to get a better sense of who he is and what he truly believes.

It has become more difficult for me to believe that Obama possesses any core convictions. Sen. Obama may have emerged out of the politics and ethos of Hyde Park, but he does not appear to be a person of any deep political or philosophical convictions. His shifts in positions since the Democratic primary ended has left me feeling that Obama's overwhelming concern is his political career. He seems to me to be willing to make decisions for political expedience and advantage.

He may be an extremely talented politician and an eloquent speaker, that does not mean he will make a good leader.

If your theory were true, no white males would be voting for Obama.

Relax, and concede that not everyone puts race on the list as reasons to vote for or against a candidate.

I could care less that Obama is black, half black, half white, mixed race or whatever you want to call it. I am proud to see that my country has at last allowed a black man and a woman both be able to run for POTUS.

Unfortunately, they just do not see eye to eye with me on issues I care about. And IMO, Obama's resume is too thin.
