Is it really so difficult for you to believe that McCain could hold his own against Obama before a friendly crowd? Have you completely deluded yourself into thinking that McCain has no qualifications or redeeming values that would make him a viable candidate?

Again, your expectations of McCain are set way too low. He is keeping this race close and Obama supporters are FREAKING OUT!

The NYT, MSNBC, NBC, in the tank. Dail Kos accusing McCain of making up his life story. This will all backfire big time. You all are looking ridiculous and pathetic.

Again, I maintain that Obama is not comfortable answering questions. He is afraid to reveal who he is. He want to keep on being 'the blank slate' persona he is so proud of crafting. He has taken both sides of nearly every position and he remains an enigma.

He cites as his big bipartisan accomplishment to be joining with McCain on ethics reform when in fact, he ultimately deserted McCain's effort to side with the solely Democrat proposal.

He gives a vague, lame 'that's above my pay grade' answer to abortion that tries to obfuscate and hide his unequivocal support for abortion on demand. This stands in stark contrast to McCain's pro-life record and bi-partisan accomplishments. It is what it is.

Obama says that he wants the voters to 'know him well' yet he will take no stand, give no answer that will cost him potential votes.

Now his campaign is whining and accusing. It is all very unbecoming and unfitting.

Obama can't have it both ways anymore. He can't be the blank slate, too many voters want a corner of the chalkboard to write on.

He should state who he is, what he believes in and let the voters decide. Is it too risky? Will he do that at the convention? If he doesn't get specific, if he doesn't stop trying to be all things to all people, he may very well lose the election and it won't be because it was stolen or that McCain cheated or because Americans are racist, it will be because he DIDN'T WIN ENOUGH VOTES.

A source at the debate tells me that McCain had access to some communications devices in the few minutes before he went on stage with you and that there was a monitor in his green room, in violation of the debate rules.

That's absolutely a lie, absolutely a lie. That room was totally free, with no monitors–a flat out lie.

McCain wasn't in the “Cone of Silence” to begin with; therefore he could not violate it. It doesn't matter if there were no monitors in the Green Room if McCain was watching it in his motorcade.

“Saved and forgiven” This was all that he could REMEMBER from his “choich” experience!????

And he sat in that 'choich' for over X years!!??????

Now that I've read through the transcripts, I'm going to cosign with S….to a point.

From where I sit, Obama did really well, for the most part. His abortion answer was bad, the comment about being a Christian and “hoping” his sins would be washed away was worse, and his “agonizing” over opposition to the Iraq war was terrible, seeing as how he had no vote. Won't hurt him.

McCain, oddly enough, exceeded my expectations. He showed himself as a true conservative, in front of a crowd of-what I have to guess were-conservatives. That will help him.

My understanding is that this wasn't competition; it was a forum for the candidates to discuss their views and positions, not a debate. With that, the cries of cheating are, in my opinion, largely irrelevant (as there was nothing to win or lose)-and somewhat juvenile. I don't know how Obama/McCain looked/sounded answering the questions, but you would've thought they both had advance notice of at least the topics from the transcripts.

Call it a warm-up for both candidates…..and let it go. The whining's not becoming.

Look, Obama is a an intelligent, thoughtful young man. He has a bright future, but I feel he needs more experience. You will not find me calling him names, denying his popularity, appeal or political skills, but for me they are not enough. He does not share my positions on Iraq, taxes, energy, school choice, abortion, marriage so he will not get my vote.

You disagree, fine. But to stoop to name calling, accusations of cheating, smacks of paranoia and panic.

McCain can only go up, as expectations of him are so low. Obama's may be too high.

McCain will be a tough opponent and it will come down to issues and experience.

For me those are:

National Security
Energy
Taxes
School Choice

Will 'nuance' serve Obama well when it comes down to the issues? Will trying to straddle the line between 'left' and 'right' remain a tenable position for Obama? I think not. If he keeps trying to have it both ways on issues his 'nuance' will be seen increasingly as 'obfuscation' and he will lose moderates who want him to take firm stands and allow them to make informed decisions.

McCain memorizes the talking points his campaign staff give him. Obama actually has a brain and thinks about his answers. He realizes, as much as Republicans would like it to be otherwise, the world often cannot be divided into good/evil, black/white, for us/against us. It is simplistic and simple-minded to paint anyone who disagrees with your perspective as evil. It will eventually lead to trouble just as it has with President Bush.

If McCain had been president this month, we would now be embroiled in a war with Russia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. We would have begun a war based entirely on the politicking of the Georgian lobbyist on McCain's staff.

John McCain does not speak for the McCain campaign.

I don't know about you, but I want a president who puts America's interests first– not a politician's interests, not Isreal's, not Georgia's.

Dear Mr. Jack and Ms. Jill: I'm very happy to have my daughter – uh- Green Lady Here- visiting me. Again, that was NOT the name that we gave her and she seems to have changed a little since I last saw her.

She has taken a new name. She keeps talking about her “PEEPS”! Now the only thing peeps have meant to me was the ones that I waited for ta turn into chickens so that we could have them for dinner on Sunday! :>) :>)

And she keeps talking about her JJP “fam”! Well, I told her that her dad and I were true to each other and that we didn't have no family outside of the ones that we have pictures of in the family scrapbook. And I told her that we cain't have no more people coming to this year's family reunion 'cause we ain't got enough food. The economy bein' what it is now.

So, I'm tryin' ta understand her, as she moves into the 21st Century. You know when they put a computer in her office 'bout 5 years ago, the poor child thought it was a television! LAWD ha'mercy! And I know that she didn't even know what the word BLOG meant 4 months ago!! :>) :>) Now that she's on Medicare – she thinks she's “all that”!

You are doing Obama a grave disservice by promoting this meme. It is increasingly being seen as a way to distract the public from Obama's lackluster performance.

Raising taxes in a time of economic uncertainty is a recipe for disaster. Obama's own advisors have now backtracked somewhat on taxes.

Its truly pathetic that you sincerely want to believe that McCain was late for a nationally televised forum because of…of what? traffic? A bad accident blocked up the streets? Whatever. The man was late to a nationally televised forum. The “coin toss” to see who would go first…well, if only one person is there at 8pm, I guess its HE who will go first. But in your delusional psychosis, you have created a cocoon which ignores the little fact that McCain WAS NOT IN THE CONE OF SILENCE FROM 8pm until at least 8:30pm. Now you can continue to deny that truth, because if you don't it might just cause something to pop off, but everybody's not on those drugs, so stop the perpetrating.

But you just said a few posts ago that Obama did well during the forum. So which is it? He did well or he was 'lackluster?” You're flip flopping worse than McCain. Regardless of if Obama was lackluster or not, McCain was not in the “Cone of Silence” (as confirmed by both Rick Davis and Rick Warren) and had every opportunity to find out what the questions were beforehand.

Look, the accusation is that McCain cheated, that he was too well prepared, he did too well, so he must have heard Obama's interview or had the questions in advance.

There is no way to prove this charge. In his limo, in the ready room, I do not believe that McCain cheated.

It is looking increasingly like a desperate move to distract the public from Obama's lackluster performance.

His 'nuance' is not playing as well as anticipated and stands in stark contrast to McCain's strong, decisive answers.

But if you want to persist with this meme by all means go ahead, but I feel it simply looks immature and desperate.

As opposed to the rookie of the year candidate who's been sitting on the sidelines for the majority of the decade?

Course, if we're going to look at the candidates by the actions of their party….didn't the dhimmicrats say they were going to lower fuel price and break foreign dependence on energy when they took control of Congress in 2006? And haven't they gone up since then?

How does that motivate me to trust a dhimmicrat with the country in a time of war?

Raising taxes on corporations (2/3 of which paid NO taxes last year) and people making $250K will actually help close the deficit Bush has been running up for the last 8 years. Poor people spend the money they have, they can't hoard it or invest in overseas companies like rich people and corporations do, thereby putting more money in the economy. Middle and lower income people will actually see a tax BREAK under Obama.
