But now that we are on a more important subject. I don't think that the government should regulate the free market. The credit card companies have more rights and can adjust interest rates all day, while the people keep losing their freedom of choice in the free market.

The problem is that it isn't a new paradigm for us. Bill Clinton gave a very similar speech in a black church when he was President. I felt the same way then–that he was playing black people like chumps and blaming us for problems that weren't our responsibility–in order to show moderate white voters how hard he was. Hated it then. Why should I have a different opinion just because it's someone black saying it?

If Barack Obama is running for President of AMERICA, rather than President of Black America, then Obama should not only refrain from speaking to “black interests”, he should refrain from using black people the way white candidates have used them (to show how tough he is on crime, welfare, and on democratic “special interests”).

While you're being facetious…you are absolutely right. If he's going to talk about changing politics as we know it, then he should only speak of structural issues dealing with crime, he should only talk about systemic responsibility, and he should only talk about systemic issues with schools.

Nevertheless, a black male incarceration rate is not a platform on which you run a campaign. That is activist work. It is up to activist to lobby on behalf of the community affected by that problem. It would be up to the POTUS to endure that the Justice Department is doing its job.

So, my comments had little if anything to do with saying Obama should have responded saying he was the victim of racism. In this week's incident alone, all he had to do was have his campaign issue a statement and say McCain is just trying to draw attention away from him pattern of flip flopping on issues the most recent of which is his position on the pending referendum item in his own state.
