Jack & Jill Politics

I'm normally the ultimate pacifist… the warm-and-fuzzy Nana-type who loves all children and quite a few adults. Yet, I wonder sometimes if I'll survive this campaign without going postal on one of these right-wing goons.

The right has created an entire alternate universe for themselves, while dismissing the rest of us as the “reality-based community.” This alternative reality is very dangerous and, I fear, possibly game-ending for this nation. I watched one of Corsi's interviews in which he was pitted against someone from Media Matters, and it was like watching two gladiators speaking two different languages. The same surreal scenario played out in a bit between Hannity and Colmes over whether or not John McCain's affair should be judged under the same light as John Edwards'.

There are times when I think this nation has been undergoing a slow, under-the-radar coup d'etat since the days of Nixon and his Southern Strategy. Or, perhaps, one could date it a bit further back to the Cold War. Andrew Sullivan had a wonderful piece on this last bit yesterday.
