It's sad to have closed minds. It's more beneficial to individuals to be curious than to be judgemental. but america is very insular in a way. We don't necessarily have awareness of other people or cultures except in the most superficial ways. One reason why I don't want to change school districts is because my district is so beautifully diverse. Its going to be highly important to have a global mentality and those who don't can relegate themselves to the permanent underclass.

If one wants to forge alliances with the Black diapora, be open to learning about their specific cultures. Don't judge. Be friendly. Be a good ambassador for whatever group you identify with. One of my greatest joys has been to meet people from every corner of the earth. We have more in common than not.
