I have never liked the two-party system that we currently have in place. Growing up, I always made a point to be aware of what both Democrats and Republicans are doing to further their platforms. However, since Bush has been in office, and neo-conservatives have successfully hijacked the party, the Repugnantcans have become ridiculous.

That is why I was so inspired by Kucinich's speech. "Wake Up America" should be the rallying cry of modern Democrats. The vast majority of my friends who are Republicans have been quietly frustrated with the party for years. At the end of the day, Republicans like to balance their checkbook. The current debt in place, as well as the cementation of Socialized Capitalism that is happening under the Bush administration, has disillusioned most of the Republicans I know. The polarization of the political state of America has helped Repugnantcans. It allows people to link personal identity with political party, as opposed to personal beliefs with political party.

*It is only out of loyalty that most of them stay with the party*

It is not because they believe in the actions taking place in the name of Republicanism. If we move forward with this in mind, we will become more appealing to people who are right of center; if only because the Republican Party itself is not addressing these issues. This is a golden moment for Democrats. Even progressives like me (not all of us mind you) are biting our tongues at the Center movement of the Democratic Party, because this is really our election to lose. We. Must. Be. Unified. That is the only way we will make it guys. Let’s get ‘em elected.

Not at all relevant, but check out this site I made: http://obamataxcut.com ... you can calculate the tax cut you'll get when Obama's President and see if it'll be higher than what McCain's promised.

Also, I remember reading an article from a few years ago, how the GOP and its penchant for letting big business do anything it wants had invaded the West, and the reason for a lot of those folks leaving the GOP was because they were letting corporations do whatever they wanted out there, and it was infringing on the little guys life.

That's why Governor Cowboy should have been the Keynote instead of Warner. That guy kicked ass and took names, and we're lucky as hell to have him as a Democrat.

I just talked to some folks who are ranchers from the west who are disillusioned GOP. They came here to the Big Tent to talk to bloggers and to say they want to work with Democrats who just seem to "get it" more than their former party that we need a responsible energy development policy. I think there's opportunity to really bring over some folks who realize that the Republicans are bad news and status quo politics are over. Thanks for this larger perspective CPL
