This is my whole problem with the election though. People give McCain two points for doing absolutely nothing, and then tear down Obama for not playing politics with every single situation.

I think his statement today is the right one. Having him go down there will take away from resources that are needed at this time to help the people in that region. Once they have a full understanding of the situation and the damage, then he can go down there and have his volunteers give money or help as needed where they can.

I get your point, but I am just so sick of it. Yes, let's give McCain a big thumbs up for going to Jackson, MS when he is a presidential candidate, but last year when he was a Senator, he was laughing it up with Bush as they ate birthday cake when Katrina hit. Let's ignore the fact that Obama went down to LA after the Hurricane and has visited five times since. Let's also ignore the fact that McCain voted against legislation to help rebuild the area. Its just too much.

We need to re-frame the issue. Lets stop letting our opponent frame the narrative. McCain going to the gulf coast doesn't look "presidential" to me; it looks opportunistic.

Now you know they were talking about canceling the convention before this, right? Because it's also about money - and no shows - and don't want them to shows.

Anyway, when watching the 60 Minutes segment, I was struck by the fact that neither of them ever mentioned McCaint's running mate's name. They referred to her as "she" "her" "a mother" blah blah blah, but her name was never mentioned by either Obama or Biden.

Biden said, "I think they're looking for more than whether Joe Biden is from Scranton and she hunts."

Obama said, "Obviously she's a fine mother and an up and coming public servant. My sense is that she subscribes to John McCain's agenda." Yet they never once said her name, not even the interviewer, Steve Kroft.
