Your points are valid, TRW; I merely was pointing out if McCain had wanted to deal the type of blow he was trying to deal with picking Palin, Condi would have been the better choice.

Not for one minute will I forget this heifer basically helped facilitate 9/11 when she had that memo about Bin Laden Determined to Strike U. S. and didn't tell Bush to get off his ass on that cow chip ranch of his to head back to DC and prevent it.

I will not forget she lied about her part in the whole shyt. As well as having her ass in New York shopping for Ferragamo shoes (at $500 a pair or more) when Katrina hit.

I haven't forgotten any of her wrongdoings. I just pointed out how she would have been a better pick than Palin. Or Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Christie Whitman, hell, even Liddy Dole may have been a better pick than Alaskan Barbie.

I agree with you also, TRW. But those who are voting for someone just because that someone is white just can't wrap their minds around it. Those who are voting for someone just because she is female can't wap their minds around it either. We aren't the ones most guilty of playing identity politics, but the media is spinning otherwise.

Why do people keep playing into the identity politics theme though? I just find it really offensive that either political party thinks they can prop up a minority and we will follow like lemmings.

I think Condi Rice is brilliant, but the truth of the matter is, she has been the sidekick to the major foreign policy decisions that I have disagreed with coming from this administration. Her skin color and uterus do not change this fact.

I do not support Barack because of his race. I can't deny that I am proud of his personal and professional achievements, but if I really and honestly believed that he didn't have the judgment and temperament to lead this country, I would not vote for him. Have we learned nothing from the Nikki Tinker fiasco? Identity politics is NOT whats hot in the streets. Just because a candidate is a minority does NOT mean that they should automatically receive support.

MotorCity, if McCain had only five choices to make the decision, then I would say Sarah Palin was an honest mistake.

He was three times prepared, and out of seventeen candidates, sixteen of them were better than Sarah Palin. If he'd really wanted to toast Obama, he could have gone with Condi and there wouldn't have been a damned thing we could have said about it, either. Condi has the foreign policy experience, served in government for eight years (I can't believe I'm doing this), and at least has a clue as to the duties of the VP.

She's also an African-American female and that alone would have split the Black vote again, because we wouldn't be dealing with the Missy Hillary crowd loyalty folks like Sheila Jackson-Lee and Bobcat Bob Johnson.

Nope, he just flunked the Commander-In-Chief Test...BIG TIME.

I love Europe. They are so much more humane and mellow than the states. I wish you the greatest success. I wish I could move there too. I'm not sure how easy that is.

I haven't been in a long time, but I guess I'll try to plan a trip and take the kids (I'm kinda waiting for the $ to get stronger). I noticed a lot of interracial relationships there, especially in Paris. There were scores of white daddys with their Black children. Sisters, if you want to feel queenly, go to Paris. Black women are adored there. To me the attention was flattering and non-offensive there, as opposed to Spain where it was very offensive. My mother's cousin married a Frenchman, but I never thought anything of it. They love us there.

They have their racism too, especially against Arabs and Eastern Europeans who are referred to as Gypsies. They take issue with various immigrants being allowed in their countries at a time they feel there are not enough resources to provide everyone with a good quality of life (not enough jobs). So they talk about those groups like we talk about Mexicans. But if you fall down on the street they will not pretend like they don't notice it and step over you. I found them to be very compassionate. I learned a lot about how humans are suppose to be when I visited Europe. It changed me for the better. I would prefer to live there than here, but I would never leave my kids or my mother.

No one is denying that when McCain chose her he was being a sexist. My issue is repeating the pattern of sexism in our critique of her. When you throw sexism at her you are just validating McCains choice of her. There are plenty of things to pick her apart on, her pro life stance, anti-gay marriage, pro death penalty, creationism etc to not have to resort to diminishing her because of her sex. That kind of attack is demeaning to all women. What it says is that if you are woman people do not have to bother with sticking to the issues because you are irrelevant.

I'm on a roll today! Borrowed this one though.

Give poor McCain a break.

Here"s what happened. McCain was given the following prioritized list. He mistakenly thought that the numbers on the left represented the score each candidate received.

1. Mitt Romney
2. Joe Lieberman
3. Tim Pawlenty
4. Rudy Giuliani
5. Tom Ridge
6. Mike Huckabee
7. Haley Barbour
8. Marsha Blackburn
9. Tom Coburn
10. Charlie Crist
11. Elizabeth Dole
12. Duncan Hunter
13. Kay Bailey Hutchison
14. Rick Perry
15. Bobby Jindal
16.
Like my mom used to say when I was growing up, "GOD Don't Like UGLY!"

See, the "Focus on the Family evangelicals" prayed and prayed for rain, and now they got it. Even though they prayed for it to rain on Obama during his convention, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/usel...) God had something else in mind. Now the Repugs are going to use this as an excuse for:
1.) A McCain Photo Op. (Someone please show the Bush/McCain cake photo on MSM)
2.) A reason to say McCain puts his country first. (See above)
3.) Bush and Cheney to stay hid in the closet. (They canceled 1st chance they got)
4.) All the other Republicans to avoid being seen with Bush/Cheney/McCain in public (Arnold already blew them off a week ago)

See, when you pray for harm or discomfort to come to others you bring it on yourself.

I will not curse on Sunday, but did this dude grow balls overnight? I have mixed feelings about Juan Williams' commentary sometimes, but he hit the nail on the head. People may disagree with me, but I think this is a racial issue. The Republicans have been stressing repeatedly about how serious this election is because of the problems we face in the upcoming years, and how we don't need anyone in the office that has to have on the job training---purposefully overlooking the fact that no one knows what its like to be president.

So in that theme, they have been hammering Obama about his supposed lack of experience. The media, and his fellow Democrats have been making him jump through hoops and dodge balls of fire to prove his readiness and he has passed every test. But the second, the absolute second, this white woman shows up with barely a political resume, people can't wait to fall all over themselves to say that experience doesn't count. That even though she has only been in office a short time, she has done remarkable things and is a "reformer" and a "maverick" despite the fact that she is under investigation for abuse of power, and at her coming out party she misstated her position on the bridge to nowhere.

I realize that all Republicans don't agree with this pick. But for these same people that attacked Obama to come out and defend her is very telling. For these same people that moan and groan about affirmative action and how Obama is the affirmative action candidate, to be mums the word on John "legacy, fifth from the bottom of my class" McCain is very telling.

I mean to parallel to the whole affirmative action argument is very striking. While many minorities get the badge of shame for supposedly benefiting from affirmative action, when they have proven their intellectual worth, people have nothing to say about the fact that traditionally it has been White women that have been the greatest beneficiaries.

Oh yes! That's the new GOP Talking Point. Cindy McCain was just on This Week.... saying that, along with saying she's offended that Obama would talk about the McCain's owning 7+ houses. And of course, Georgie S. let her get away with that nonsense.

Between This Week..... and MTP, the MSM were showing their asses this morning.

CPL - FYI - I've tracked my ancestors through the slave markets of Richmond, Virginia in the 1850s and am trying to go back even further. Which I suspect is much more that your tiny mind has even thought about doing. Despite having to deal with people like you and the myriad of problems we deal with every day in the US, I love this country and have no desire to leave it for anything other than a short vacation.

I think that I can have more impact from within versus running away to Europe - where BTW - they don't really like black folks. Have a good life overseas - we'll do better without you.

Thanks CPL... Wow! This is deep. I think it's true (maybe cause I think the worst about any Repug, but at least I admit it) I wonder will the MSM grab a hold of this story... Somebody outside of the family knows the truth.. just a matter of time.
