Mccaine could get Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, and Florida. Under that scenario it becomes VERY DIFFICULT for Obama to win. He would Need Virginia, Colorado, New Mexico, Maybe North Carolina.. and the rest of the traditional Dem. States. Obama's chances ARE NOT STRONG!!! OBAMA SUPPORTERS REALLY NEEED TO GET ENERGIZED!! These polls where he is ahead DO NOT CONSIDER THE BRADLEY AFFECT!! BARACK IS PROBABLY PERFORMING WORSE THAN THE POLLS!!

I mean this is a light-hearted manner: I wonder what Senator Obama wrote on the prayer paper he left at the Wailing Wall? Something as simple as, "Dear God, please let me be President"?

Seems as if er'rrybody is going for the money: The Secret Service Agency director, Sullivan says that they will need an additional $9.5 million in order to cover additional expenses that have and are emerging - beyond their original budget. Actually most are related to protecting Mr. Obama - 1. international trips, 2. Lanstuhl would've been a good stop, as it usually the first stop for wounded servicemembers out of Iraq/Afghanistan before heading to Walter Reed.

The military part of the trip is over, though. He saw the two war zones, and while it'd be good for him to pay the wounded guys a visit, he's not under any obligation to.

It won't play well on the right. But......I'll live.

There is a statement from the campaign at politico.com about the cancellation. the campaign said that since this leg of his tour is a campaign funded event, BHO felt it was inappropriate and also mentioned his other visits in Iraq, Afghanistan. I'm sure it won't play well on the right. I have just resigned myself to the fact that whatever Obama does demonstrates his disrespect for the troops and America.

Vets for Freedom is a single-issue group, so we probably wouldn't weigh in on this as an organization. IAVA-Iraq/Afghanistan Veterans of America, who I also belong to (and who helped drive the new GI Bill)-would.

Speaking strictly for myself, though....I don't have a problem with focusing (not "rationing") health care towards combat-wounded veterans. Those whose bodies-and minds-bear the scars of battle deserve our utmost attention, even at the risk of pushing those who have service related/connected injuries (like myself) to the back of the line. If the goal is to reintegrate the combat wounded into society so that they are functional and can survive on their own, then they should take priority.

Of course, there would have to be a standard definition of what a combat related injury/illness is. Would it include PTSD, illnesses related to Agent Orange/Gulf War syndrome? To be fair, I think it would have to...and the results of that discussion would really determine whether the final product is a good idea or not.

Good question, though......

Two observations: With all the beer bottles in front of him and the foreign minister, it looks like Netroots Nation. In the shot in the elevator you can see Obama, but the reflection clearly shows the back of another man's head, proof that Obama is a vampire. This elevates his coolness factor and for all you doubters, vampires can move about by daylight despite the movie myths.

What a beautiful family!! The girls are adorable and act like well-rounded children. Michelle is gorgeous and Obama looks like a good family man and father. I can't say when I've ever seen such a healthy looking family with a president or a candidate. With the family problems in past president's lives, no wonder our country ran aground. We need someone like Obama who genuinely loves his family, is devoted and would run the country the same way.

Let's bring honesty, integrity, ethics, intelligence and true patriotism into the White House! What a refreshing change that will be instead of a president who is for the rich and his friends only, and damn the country and world.

I posted about the documentary as well. They pushed a binary wherein if you are a black female you are either a noble self-sacrificing single mother or an affluent dick starved woman. Whole groups of women were invisible in the documentary. Where were the lesbians, battered wives etc?

There is no way being Black In America can be covered in 4 hours.

Since Clarence is from Chicago, and I know a lot about his backstory, I like Clarence. Is he some firebrand? No. Is he Roland Martin? No. But, he paved the way for Roland to be able to 'just be' and work like he does in the journalism field. Has he been jaded by living in DC, sure? But, knowing his backstory, and especially the story about his first wife, let's just say, I don't believe Clarence will ever turn into Juan Williams. I think his first wife would haunt him if he did. He's center-left, emphasis on center.

PPP Poll: Virginia Remains Very Competitive
A new Public Policy Polling survey in Virginia finds Sen. Barack Obama inching ahead of Sen. John McCain, 46% to 44%.

Key findings: "The contest in Virginia breaks out pretty much as one would expect. Obama has large leads among black voters (77-16) and other non-white voters (50-31) while leading in three out of four age categories. McCain's strength comes from white voters (53-36) and those over 65 (49-38)."

PPP's crosstabls are usally way off. Barack is only getting 77% of black voters? If that holds on election day, I'll be shocked.

McCain is only getting 53% of white voters? I don't buy that either. And he's not even breaking 50% among older voters.

I think Virginia will be close, but these stats don't hold much water.

The Repubs accuse the media of favoring Obama. Yet, they cannot even pretend to be evenhanded about it since they are carrying McCain to the finish line. It doesn't matter what McCain says. He is inconsistent and incoherent. The media will amend, dress up, or completely ignore his (gaffe prone) comments.

The net effect of the media assistance: I've gone from liking McCain to feeling a mixture of contempt and pity for the man.

I almost feel sorry for McCain because it's obvious he's getting the Bob Dole Sacrificial Old Man treatment.

While I've never liked him, I understand contempt for him quite well.

Especially as he raises the bile in this campaign and suggests that Barack is a traitorous leader who wouldn't mind seeing another Holocaust.

That may be appropriate, depending on a couple of things:

1. Is the Obama speech still part of the "congressional delegation" portion of the trip, or is he in campaign mode?

2. Who, specifically, is banned? If it a campaign speech, then certain federal employees legally cannot attend.

Here's the verbiage from the Foreign Affairs Manual:

A U.S. citizen employee, spouse, or family member shall not engage in partisan political activities abroad, other than authorized activities pertaining to U.S. elections. This provision shall not preclude a locally hired U.S. citi-zen employee, who also is a national of the country of residence, from ex-ercising political rights deriving from that foreign nationality.

There has to be more to this story.

Am I the only who's noticed CNN's pattern of having Black/Brown folks attacking Obama? From Amy Holmes, to Larry Elder (who's a regular now), to Linda Sanchez, Mr. Castellanos, and some black female they had on last night on AC360. It was hilarious watching BO being defended by David Gergen and Joe Klein while being attacked by a Black woman.

Amy Holmes is rethug for pay. She's a registered Independent. She straddles the fence as it is convenient, but she's way too perky to be credibly seen as an attack dog. Now Tara Wall is another story. She's just there to take the contrary position no matter what, which to me isn't the same thing as being a conservative. There are some things conservatives can agree on about Obama.

Also I believe that its against regulations to use the Armed Forces for political events though it never stop republicans from doing so.I guess the pictures of Government employees cheering Obama as if their nightmare is coming to an end is to unsettling for McCain chances for bush and his followers.

It's illegal if they're in uniform. Other than that, members of the Armed Forces can participate in partisan events as they see fit.
